@Westend Greens Extortion How are there 32,550 negative reviews on IMDb when there are less than 3,000 total reviews? It seems to me that you've decided to tether yourself to a completely unjustified opinion that you have to make up bullshit facts to support. I suggest you finish watching the movie, realize what a masterpiece it truly is (and, no, the first 40 minutes are not enough to determine otherwise; trust me), then you come back here and apologize to me and everyone else you've insulted before deleting your comment and never speaking of this again. The story isn't about liberal agendas or whatever bullshit propaganda you think it is. The movie is about love, and finding meaning in a world where meaning is becoming harder and harder to come by. It's a story with a universal message that even someone as rude and ignorant as you can take to heart.
@matthewlowe2193 Жыл бұрын
@Westend Greens Extortion You do not get to say ANY OF THIS without finishing the movie. Up to that point, you are simply blowing hot air. You may as well be speaking from your ass.

In the mood for love is a movie about a couple who can never be together in spite of the passion they have for each other, because fate just keeps bringing them apart. This is kinda how its like in this Universe for Evelyn and Waymond. The male protagonist in that movie where this scene took inspiration from lived the rest of his life dealing with all the what-could-have-beens. Just like Waymond here.

We do tend to love the thing's that hurt us in just the right ways. Why? Because it's an inherent part of our evolution. Evolution and modern day psychology have arrived at the point's they're at, due to one tool and a singular result: Respectively, mistake and being uncomfortable. Mistake is the tool that's forged evolutionary science to the point it's at now. Comforts will ruin one's motivation to rise above and become better than beforehand. Yet, it's our duty as humans for us to aspire towards rising above our inherent, animalistic nature. And the perfection built in subtleties within this film are what makes my point's true. They're what makes it and us as a species, just perfect. 'Tis all about perspective though, after all. "Heartbreakingly beautiful" is probably one of the best compliments one could recieve. Thanks for sharing your thoughts

I immediately saw the similarities between Wong Kar Wai's style and that universe in EEAAO and thought of such a back to back montage. I'm glad someone actually did it ! Great tribute to both of them !

this movie is what's keeping me going through a really rough breakup of a long-term relationship. it makes me believe in love and kindness, even when it feels like i'm not loved and that being kind does nothing. i trust in waymond and his philosophy that putting kindness into the world is an act of survival, a way of fighting against how cruel and unforgiving life can be, and will be returned in due time.

The laundromat was failing because of Evelyn alone. Waymond is able to live in the moment with a positive outlook, which is why he never strives for success, because to him, he had everything he would ever need already, so instead he just loved and supported those around him. His success in this unmarried universe proves that he being himself (positive, in the moment) would ultimately lead to success if there’s nothing he ties himself to but himself. But in the main universe, he ties himself to Evelyn.
@mynameisrandy Жыл бұрын
But in the universe in the clip, Evelyn didn't have him and she became a movie star. So you could just as easily say that he caused her to fail. I don't actually agree with either of those interpretations, though. The point is that we really don't know how our lives will turn out, nor how the lives of others will turn out. Waymond's positive outlook may or may not lead to "success". But it's a valuable perspective no matter what our circumstances end up being.

WKW should have had more critical acclaim. He is a brilliant film maker. ITMFL is one of my favourite films of all time

Isn't critical acclaim exactly what he had? He just didn't have a huge amount of commercial success, right? Or am I way off here?
@djstarsign Жыл бұрын
@@ellocoavs exactly, he’s an icon for cineastes and a critical darling. ITMFL was voted second best film of the new millennium. He’s respected as a first class director in the world cinema category. He is by no means overlooked or underrated in critical circles. But maybe the original poster meant that he should be more popular to a mainstream moviegoing audience.
