When I visited the Boswells Chambersburg store I asked if they would ever consider putting a shop in my town. Their reply was, no, because we could never make enough pipes to keep up with the supply for another store, while still making their pipes as special and unique as they do. I can respect that.

I met Mr Boswell at the Chambersburg store, where he was working on a pipe. He is as knowledgeable and as nice as you would imagine. At the time I wanted a cigar, and he took the time to show me around the walk-in humidor, giving me excellent advice as a new cigar smoker. I can't stress enough how much I agree with Muttonchop about Boswell's. He is known and appreciated throughout the world.

I agree, I live near the store and I'm a frequent customer, both JM and Dan are truly professional and have top shelf products and service and Boswell pipes are great custom pipes.

Just visited JM’s shop in Alexandria PA this last weekend. He is the most amazing business owner I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting, and is an absolute wealth of knowledge! From likes to cigars, he knows his stuff! My Boswell pipe is my favorite, and from talking to him and his family, they’re all super invested in their products and services! Couldn’t be happier with them!

The best thing about JM is who he is as a person. He shares his business with his family and his Customers. He always stops what he’s doing and talks to you. Knows almost everyone who is a repeat customer and gives so much away to our men and women in uniform. He is what’s right with our country. And sad to say he along with ,any others will be legislated out of existence in a matter of years. Our government gets to pick and chose winners and that just isn’t right. I hope I’m wrong, but go visit him and the gang while you still can and get a piece of piping royalty.

I'm smoking some English blend in my 103 year old calabash pipe from London. I don't normally smoke briar pipes, but I'll be picking up a Boswell. I like their kind approach and quality. Chris you are absolutely correct, this is anachronistic. It's like something from the 50s.

I since have been on their website numerous times, i have bough some tobacco, and i just bought a pipe, since then, i will probably stick with my savinellis, and buy from boswell and get his pipes and tobacco as well, very good products, and their customer service is spot on.

The writing on their box reminds me of two of my favorite quotes. Wil Foster wrote, "Quality is never an accident,...it is always the result of sincere effort, intelligent direction,....it represents wise choices of many alternatives." And Mac Anderson, "Customer service is the lifeblood of any organization''. Everything flows from it and is nourished by it. Customer service is not a dept , it is an attitude."

Yes!!! Love that pipe, sir! I just KNEW you'd go for one like that, given your preference of Savs, haha! Like you, I was beyond impressed with everything Boswell does. The tobacco, the pipes, the presentation, and obviously their service. The are a class outfit. I bought a few pipes since last year from the Chambersburg store and called in an order... They're just perfect in nearly every way. One is a charcoal finish large Oom Paul sitter, one is a charcoal finish Dublin/freeform, and one is a traditional light stain, straight stemmed large billiard. All 3 are incredible. One was custom made for me and it's my best pipe, hands down. My only gripe is that the free tamper they include as a gift is stamped "made in China," which never rings my bell... But that's my ONLY complaint.

Muttnchop, just a friendly FYI, the agency that makes the rules/laws for tobacco is the FDA, not the EPA. I think I’d also be impressed and very pleased with receiving my pipe purchase in a nicely printed box with a pipe sock, cleaners, tamper/reamer and a box of matches! Very cool! Nice to have this level of customer care and service. A lot of folks complain that it’s a dying concept these days… but I think some folks expect too much from some of the caliber of places they’re patronizing… you can’t expect national chain stores to give you your stuff in a custom printed, gold foil embossed box! Pipe-artisans and tobacconists… I would expect the extra mile and that custom touch. It’s appreciated all that much more because it IS not a regular thing these days…. Because we allowed Mom n Pop stores to get run out by corporations and national chains! Gotta get out to Chambersburg and visit this shop… I definitely want to add a Boswell to my collection! Thanks for the video, Muttnchop!

Muttnchop, hello! If it doesn’t exist already, would you please put together an inventory of your personal pipe collection, that highlights what style/brand they are and why you like or don’t like them? From the number of pipes you have, I full well realize this is a big ask, but I don’t think I’d be speaking for just myself, when I say we’d LOVE to see it! Too long for a single video certainly, but maybe a “My Pipe Collection” video that highlights your Seven Day Collection and links to your write up of the remaining? What do you think? You rock, by the way…appreciate the heck out of you and your amazing content. Happy Piping, to you my friend. HUA!

There is a relationship or tie to the renowned Carl Weber of Weber Briars, Inc., Jersey City, NJ. Mr. Weber has passed on as has his company. It was at one time a large manufacturing of quality briars in the latter half of the last century; 1938 and through the 60’s and 70’s. I believe he once owned and manufactured pipes under the Jobey name. Like Weber’s own maker’s mark Jobey too was in an oval on the shank and sometimes on the stem. Carl Weber manufactured private label pipes for many individually owned pipe shops in the US. Among those was Barlclay Rex formerly of Maiden Lane, New York City. I used to spend many a happy lunch hour in the shop when I worked downtown. As it was on my way to the office, I’d pass it going to and from work daily. 13:37 In the Boswell “museum” there are some artifacts from the Jersey City operation.

You know really get the word out about you wanting to work with a company to produce a tobacco blend we as a group/community could do something to show that it would be worth their time. We could sign a petition to show how many people would be interested in buying a muttonchop blend. (Just brainstorming)

Hi there. I got a question to you guys, every time i try to smoke my pipe using a breathing method through nose, it goes out quickly, am i doing something wrong? It is really frustrating to have to light up every few seconds or so, and i inadvertently revert to my usual method of drawing in and out through my mouth and producing much smoke to keep the pipe lit.
@1stSgt022 жыл бұрын
Tornike, your pipe is more than likely packed too tightly, and/or tamped too much. If you haven’t already, watch Muttn’s videos on how to smoke a pipe, they’re amazing and walk you through the entire process. You’ll get it!
