My Great Grandpa used to sing and hum these kind of songs under his breath everytime I saw him, lol...he never said 1 word to me straight...but I knew he had a voice when I'd hear him rhyme and hum in riddles and ridiculous words and phrases, lol...He was a train hobo in the 1910's all over the US...made his home in Arkansas and then California...dust bowl blues,, lol..I would have appreciated those moments more with all the life experience and context I have now. Abby you make me happy. My dad taught me to play guitar but the very first thing he taught me was spoons. I was a bit unfocused as a kid so that was about the only thing he could get my attention with. I learned to play them and it brought me joy. My mom didn't like me bending all her tablespoons though. Now having said that, I don't have your moves or rolls. I want to learn and perfect my own way. Lord knows I don't want to be generic. I think in order to be a real entertainer you have to love what you do but do it differently. I am an actress and singer. I write music and stories but my heart is in music. When you play I see the joy in your face. You are a precious lady. I remember taking spoons in the lunchroom when I was in elementary showing some kids that I knew how to peck them to make a sound. I would put rhythm to it and I was so proud of what I was doing. I just knew the other kids would love it... boy was I wrong. They laughed at me and I didn't pick up a set of spoons again until I was well into my 30's. I played for some kids in different churches while I related the playing to sharing your God-given talents. Most of the kids I shared with loved it. Then I went through a spell where I didn't play as life happened. I love your style. I love that you play and get joy from it without caring if anyone likes it or not. You are so your own power. The rest of the world could learn a lot from you. I love your story as well. Stay true sweetness. :) Thank you for sharing your beautiful self with the rest of us.
