BMW should bring out the G310GS Rally in line with their 1200GS Rally. I just feel the product manager and interviewer seemed very careful not to say "Dirt roads" and the like. I don't know why since the 1200GS weighs a lot more and also has a 19" front wheel. So I don't see why this 310GS can't do "Dirt" roads. I'm not saying "Enduro" or MX type tracks of course but people are going to put more aggressive offroad bias tyres on this motorcycle. Thats for sure. They will take this through SoCal desert roads etc. I hope the marketing vids show at least as much gravel roads as they did with the RnineT Scrambler. Seems like a great little bike. I think I want one :)

Okay, Finally we have the BMW G310GS here in India. The bike was made here in India and sold all across the world first then launched here in India. Now the cost factor, let me tell BMW that we Indian are not cheap but can pay what ever price you need for your motorcycles but it need to make sence. Now BMW makes the bikes here in India and prices more than USA and that does not make the cut. I am a die hard fan of BMW and Germany products because I appreciate the German approach for quality and high level of workmanship. At this price both the G310R and G310GS is not going to sell, atleast I am not going to buy it. Bikes made in Indian facility, built by Indian Engineers and workers, parts made in Indian Engineering facility and after all this making Indian pay a higher price..not going to work out BMW. I really stood with the German products but this time around I really hope the Austrian and the Japanese beat the hell out of the German with their product line like Versys X, Honda XRE 300, V Storm 250. Long live Sacred Germany but this time you guys need thrashing.

BMW Motorrad I am very disappointed to see that the bike is made in India and launched everywhere else. But it takes this long a time in India. The best suggestion for BMW is to have tie-up for both days and ASS with TVS who has already captured the market. It will be very difficult and time consuming for BMW to create a market now in each corner of India. With TVS partnership you can capture volume sales like you could never even dream of in the entire world Market.

So good to see BMW addressing the needs of shorter, more svelte ADV riders, both men & women - my sister, as example, wants to do ADV riding especially after hearing about my adventures on my R1200GS this past summer, riding through the Tetons, Palouse Empire, Colorado Rockies and so many other amazing places, totaling more than 12,000 kilometers over 44 days - I actually even managed to fit a little work in there here and there to allow much greater extension of my ride! (where on Earth did I manage to pack a 17" laptop, tablet and accessories onto my already packed GS with camping gear?!)

This is so exciting!!! The province I live in (saskatchewan) my boyfriends R1200 GS adv is over $2000 a year for insurance because they base it on engine size... and under 400 cc is SOOOOOOOOO much less and my bike is for on road and small amounts of gravel roads only!

I'm debating getting one of these for a cross-country trip with my brother in 2018. I'm a big guy, 6'3", 250lbs, but I'm a beginner rider. I didn't want to get anything with too much power and too heavy. I'm debating between this and the G 650 GS and the Kawasaki KLR 650. What do you think? I live in Germany and I see them for sale here but I'll be coming to the states next year for the trip. I haven't seen any for sale on any US sites yet. Any idea when they will be available?

I heard from a local western BMW motorcycle dealership that the G310R will be in showroom come January 2017. I have a deposit down on one for a Feb/Mar delivery since I won't be riding during winter. So if we're talking Jan2017 for the G310R and if the GS version will hit the Canadian market come ....oh let's say April then I would switch my deposit to the GS, but if we're talking summer 2017 then I keep things as is. Hi Kevin, I really don't know about Chris' now, but maybe Chris follows this post. However we have three options for the seat height: 835 mm (820 mm: Low Seat; 850 mm: Comfort Seat) Our current F 700 GS or F 800 R have a standard seat height of 820mm and the F 800 GS of 880mm. You could try out at your local BMW Motorrad dealer which size fits you the most before the G 310 GS is available in the second half of 2017. All the best Joerg of the BMW Motorrad Team

Is there any sports faried G310R version will come later with clip-on bars or even split seat design?? Speaking about Indian midrange motorcyclist,a part of them loves great sporty looks besides power & quality and the same time asks for millage and affordability . BMW G310R and 310GS gonna be the best in class with its manufacturing specification and brand quality but its a naked Roadster & adventure bike respectively. We hope for a Sport Faried version with clip-on handlebar too. :)

Hi, I am from India, My height is 5'7 and am comfortable with seat height of 800mm, Your official bike reports says 310GS model starts with 820mm seat height and goes upto 850mm... Any ways of lowering the seat height to 800mm officially. Really looking for an adventure bike, Himalayan and Mojo didnt like...

Hi Martin, I really don't know about Chris' size right now and until I can reach somebody who knows it's mid January. However we have three options for the seat height: 835 mm (820 mm: Low Seat; 850 mm: Comfort Seat) Our current F 700 GS or F 800 R have a standard seat height of 820mm and the F 800 GS of 880mm. You could try out at your local BMW Motorrad dealer which size fits you the most before the G 310 GS is available in the second half of 2017. All the best Joerg of the BMW Motorrad Team
