Not the most responsive interviewee but some fragments of a rare insight into how people recorded before the onset of digital technology and not having to commit to a particular take. The challenge back then was getting it right it one take, of capturing a live performance. People being in the same room playing at the same time can not be recreated digitally. Long live analogue!!!

Lots of good stuff, thanks. His perspective is really valuable, getting under the bonnet of all these great albums. I’m off to listen to Geoff Mulduar.

Brilliant, thanks! Levy's recorded those Embassy non-original-artists records sole by Woolworths. That must have been a grind!

Mr Wood seems to be attracting plenty of criticism. Maybe it should be remembered that he is 85, and as this video's description tells us, he isn't here to sell a book or anything else. Having worked at close quarters with these artists, maybe he wasn't quite as enamored with them as their various fans were. Perhaps not the sort of person that you invite onto a chat show; but this isn't a chat show.

On the negative side, no-one can afford to start up a studio like Sound Techniques any more. On the positive side, you can now upload your tracks to be mixed by John Wood through his website! P.S. Joe Boyd wasn't kidding about him being blunt....

I get the impression he’s a bit sick of talking about Nick Drake

Wow that was a hard one. Maybe John should sit up straight and had some beers down him ;-) . Great producer.
