@@EugeValovirta230V couple of questions. Did Eddie use chorus and flanger or chorus and phaser together? I couldn't get it to sound good together as it just became an overbearing effect. Secondly, about the drop pedal, when you use it to downtune, can you still hear ( through the feel) that your strings are in a different tuning than what's coming out of the speakers? I've heard people say that it feels weird at first because your strings acoustically ring out at the tuning they are in and the amplified sound is in a drop tuning.

Eddie was such an very innovative player. I admit, I've never been as influenced by him as much in my style as much as players like Petrucci, Satch and Lynch, but he really had a great and unique voice on the guitar and way of phrasing things in rhythm and lead like no one else. May he rest in peace. Or even better in the bosoms of all the dead strippers in heaven with a glass of single malt and a Cuban Montecristo.

Excellent tribute to the king. Still makes me sad thinking about him being gone. I learned a lot from this video too - I wasn't sure what he did in the bridge of Dance the Night Away - knew it was something with harmonics and tapping but now I know and just played it finally haha. For his solos: its cool that when you see what hes playing how theres a logic to it within the confines of the song. I'm not sure how to describe it - but his solos often have these 'themes' running throughout them - and when you see them on the fretboard and the fingerings its like you get to follow him through his line of thinking as he constructed it. It's like That "falling down the stairs and landing on your feet" analogy is perfect for some of his faster connecting licks; but the composition of the solos is like 'engineered' - but he has such great feel and melodic sense that they aren't rigid at all - but just fun to see the patterns. His rhythm playing is underrated too (maybe not as much since his passing though) - he had these gigantic expressive chords that rang out as he'd move the lower notes before the original (still ringing) higher stings finished. (Decent example is intro to "Humans Being") - his use of drone notes/open strings in his rhythm playing is still my base for writing songs - allows me to hear lead and rhythm at the same time and sounds so full. I like the Van Hagar era as much as the Van Roth era (different reasons) - but am very glad Hagar didn't play the guitar much - Eddie's got it covered. ANyway sorry for the tangent lol great video. Learned a tonne.

@@EugeValovirta230V Yes you did do the symmetrical scale patterns. I mean the note order patterns which are called 4 note sequences or 5 note sequence note patterns. EVH and Randy Rhoads use these 4 note and 5 note sequence patterns. Its completely different than symmetrical scale patterns. When playing a major or minor scale you do 4 notes in a ORDER pattern. EVH and Randy Rhoads have trade mark ways of doing these 4 note and 5 note scale patterns. Its not Symmetrical Scale Patterns its completely different. Instead of playing a major or minor scale one note to the next the standard way, EVH and Randy Rhoads will create a 4 note Pattern or 5 note Pattern. Make a video lesson on these types of patterns. I know you're a big EVH fan so listen to all the albums again and try focus on the scale note order patterns.

A lot of overlap between Eddie's playing and Dime's! Especially with chromatics and moveable patterns. That approach "falling down the stairs and landing on your feet" is a perfect description. It's not very musical in the traditional sense (it's not thematic, you can't sing it), but it works.
