@@EugeValovirta230V also after that album I bought boss super overdrive, a rotovibe pedal and a dunlop JH-1 Wah, old one, as Zakk had that days
@EugeValovirta230V4 жыл бұрын
I still have those old ones too and I used them on this video but not the Rotovibe ’cos I have no idea where it is 😊. I bought the SD-1actually before I heard that Zakk uses it by a recommendation of a local music shop Musamaailma with whom I still do business together. I also bought my first tube amp at the same time from them too which happened to be none other than JCM800 2203 (actually one of the key selling points from them was that ”Zakk Wylde uses these too” and I was like ”ok we have a deal” 😊. I still have two of those: one from 1984 with 6550 tubes and one from 1985 with EL34’s. Classics never go out of style 😎. At one point I had three JCM2203s at the same time and one JMP2203 🔥😁

Hi Euge, thank you so much for going through the playing of Zakk (especially Pride and Glory - 'Toe 'in the Line' is freaking amazing and one of my favorite songs of all time), and also for covering my personal favourite guitarist of all time Jake.E.Lee, especially with The Ultimate Sin and Badlands and Voodoo Highway. Jake is so underrated, along with Gary Holt of Exodus and the master of all genre Sir John5. I love Zakk's first 2 Ozz albums No Rest and No More Tears, but P&G was something else along with Book of Shadows. I am not a gifted guitar player like yourself, I have played on and off for 20+ years & I struggle with learning songs by ear. I look forward to your breakdown of songs. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your time and effort, so very much appreciated. Please continue them, I love how you describe sounds, effects, etc. I am jealous you got to hang with the Viking himself though. Thank you again!✌🤘🤘🤘🤘

Euge Valovirta the famous one that you can see on KZbin still wow that’s cool. Mine was Monster of Rock and then the “Gibson Night of 100 guitars” in London. My dad was a guitar player so we both went and it was blown away by Zakk and Slash.

this album is super underrated, i love how late dimebag and zack picked a lot of influence from country players. their licks are so saucy, also I think that Billy Gibbons influenced their playing a lot. if I had to name the genre to this album it would probably be heavy country-blues.

Great work as always Euge! Pride & Glory will forever be my favorite thing that Zakk has done apart from his early work with Ozzy. I really feel like that genre/style is where Zakk shines the best! I mean, P&G only released one album, 28 years ago, and it still holds up against everything Zakk has done since then (IMO)! Oh, what I would give to have been around in the "Shaved Era" of Zakk, to see Pride & Glory live. I prefer this album/sound/style over any BLS stuff period. Heck, these three songs you showcased were a HUGE reason I even picked up the guitar in the first place 16 years ago

I still remember meeting him a couple of times before he joined Ozzy back in the mid 80's thru my older brother and friends of my neighborhood (Harfield where his wife came from). I've made a blind test of two wahs, whitch wah tone is closer to that frickin' wah tone on that album. I have two wahs: JH-1 from early 2000's and Crybaby Original from early 90's(with no battery door underside and open-coil inductor on the PCB), so, it's true wah pedal from that era. Worthy to say, Crybaby Original is pretty close, to my ears much closer than JH-one. I know It can be a some sort of paranoia, but my ears a not so often lies to me.

Pride&Glory was recorded and mixed mostly @LondonBridgeStudio places in Seattle USA on amazing vintage Neve console by Rick Parashar(R. I. P. Rick) and Jonathan Plum. These guys recorded lots of bands such as Pearl Jam, Mother Love Bone, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden,Blind Melon and Temple of a Dog. Any details are cloudly, 'cos no footage, no producers notes or stuff like that, but as we can hear, they recorded live on the floor. We can hear lots of room reflections, tons of microphone bleed and tube hiss from the Zakk's amp when he don't play.

I think he can definitely write by himself but a good producer always brings more input & vision to song writing, recording, sound etc. to the whole project in general. At least in my 20 years experience as a recording artist for independent & major labels 😎. For example I think Zakk’s best guitar solos are from the albums that has had a great producer involved. I can’t count how many times a producer has said to me for example like: ”Well...the solo was good but let’s do another take ’cos you can do better and try to come up with something more memorable and not just play million notes as fast as you can” 😊👍.

Terve! You have way too much gain/distortion for pride & glory stuff. That’s back when Wylde still let the sound be organic and breath and sounded like a man. Yes P&G was/is one my favorite records all time. The later BlB stuff is just shit. Why, too much gain zero definition on the sound. Hyvin soitettu mutta huonot soundit pilaa koko hoidon 🤷🏻♂️
