When referring to the OL/DL, you never want to hear the word soft. I truly appreciate Coach O'Boyle's honest evaluation at this point. That word will not be said come September. These young men will put in the work, they will improve and the toughness will evolve overtime (you want them to all have it now, but the world/some of these young men are a lil different now). We got less than 6-months before TCU; we will need each practice to remove the weak and loser mentality from their minds - and it will happen. Keep up the great work Coach O'Boyle.

Boy, they have a lot of work to do to get many of these kids up out of there. Even if you’re not familiar with the finer points of football, you can see that he’s not just saying these things to be a hard ass.

One of my biggest challenges when I played organized football was developing and maintaining a healthy and beneficial nutritional plan at the training table (but especially when I was not around coaches and teammates). I'm positive that it was the excessive consumption of the following items that curtailed a promising football career: eating 6-8 honey buns, a whole box of banana moon pies, 3 sleeves of oreo cookies w/1 half gallon of milk, snacking on multiple bags of M&M's, drinking quarts of fruit punch, wolfing down whole pizzas, inhaling four Big Macs w/2 large orders of fries, scarfing down Jethro-size 'bowls' of spaghetti, devouring buckets of Kentucky Fried Chicken w/mashed potatoes & that thick brown gravy...don't forget the 3 orders of cole slaw and the buttery rolls, chomping down on 5 McDonald's fish fillets w/6 apple pies and two milk shakes, etc. You get the picture. Is this mostly hyperbole? Yes. But my point is, I didn't begin to understand and take nutrition and dietary choices seriously until the damage had already been done. My coaches apparently didn't feel the need to place emphasis on eating balanced, healthy meals (and snacking on fresh fruit and yogurt). Therefore, I and other teammates of mine didn't make it a habit to consume healthy food when away from home. Now that we are older, many of us avoid conversations about (dietary health) as if we were discussing politics. Definitely a subject to avoid. Right? WRONG! While high altitude can affect a players cardiovascular conditioning, so can the consumption of lots and lots of starchy, sugary foods. But in America, we're oftentimes afraid to tell the truth because it may offend someone --- even if that truth can potentially change someone's life for the better...totally change the trajectory of a football team. I say this because I care, not to offend anyone. I hope this message is taken in the spirit in which it is shared. One love fam.

The whole country soft these days even the adults are used to getting most things for no or little work....

I think when it was told to us, we simply did it. I think the mindset (Player) now is to question mentally if it's feasible to do this. There is a chasm. What they don't understand is at this point, Coaches are nice. Wait until JUN/JUL. Fellas, I'd suggest getting that mental callus hardened REAL fast. Mediocrity doesn't exist with Coach, Challenge each other...hard. You covering? Talk, get into that head, you get beat, shake hands and let 'em know you coming right back. Receivers, once you get that Gap? Talk to 'em, let 'em know they ain't catching you. LB's, tell that Lineman you're about to get him real bad, if he beats you? Thank him, because that's what you want, you want him angry. Chips are huge guys. Don't let Coach down....

Multiple facets of conditioning. They have only been running and doing weight room. Now they are actually getting pads and banging shoulders which is also more conditioning. so they are gonna have to get their conditioning up in this area as well with repetition. They are not attacking hard yet and their shifting is weak still which means Shedur would be doing a lot of running. I agree with Bill that there is a lot of work to do.
