Maria Brink is a metal goddess. She not only rocked this song but she even adds that personal touch of it in the song. Where it naturally does understand how you are feeling in those dark moments and depressing thoughts, so it actually speaks to how your feeling compared to someone saying that they understand what you are feeling. The depths of the darkness rising up to submerge you and pull you down and the fight and light to rise up and pull free from it like a torrential ocean. People do not need your pity or medication to help them and be saved as stated in the lyrics in the beginning. The music video’s direction and drama to grasp the music and its message is demonstrated again and again in her other music videos. Showing she understands and knows the right way to produce these videos with her music. Which this song always gives me goosebumps and hits me too.

When her voice wavers with tears in that last note. Maria is genuine n fights against a male dominated genre and much fan backlash for her creative image and still carries on undefeated!
@tattoodude8946 Жыл бұрын
I get your point, but I don't like the "fights against" part - she is fighting FOR her spot amongst a male dominated genre. I don't think she is trying to "tear down the patriarchy" here. She definitely had to fight for her spot (even in In This Moment as they didn't want a female singer when she auditioned), but the "fight against" just makes it sound like a war between the sexes. It's not or at least it shouldn't be and to break that, we need to think about it differently. I've been a metal head since the '80s and I am so happy to see more female metal singers - in fact, I actively seek them out because I actually find I prefer the range of a female singer in a metal band - and it all started with Maria.

If Floor is the goddess of metal, Maria is most certainly the seductress of metal. She is just incredible. Her raspy voice can't be mistaken and always delivers goosebumps. Her expressions, makeup and visuals only enhance the experience.

Maria’s story is incredible. Her father was abusive to her and her drug-addicted mother. After he left, she fell into depression and rebelled. She got pregnant at 14 and had her son at 15. She worked in a laundromat in New York while trying to get her mother clean. One day, after her mother got clean, she’d had enough and moved her and her son to LA to pursue a music career. She worked in stores and sang in coffee shops until she started a band. The first band failed, but then she started In This Moment and the rest is history. She’s now almost 42

Maria Brink and Melissa Bonney are my favourite female metal singers for their versatility. Patricia Pons and Iris Goessens (SynlakrosS & Spoil Engine) are my favourite death metal growlers, I also love Carla Harvey and Heidi Sheperd from Butcher Babies.

@@Dubbel12 I saw her live 3 times. First and second time she was pretty good, not the best live like Lzzy Hale or anything. But the last time in 2017... Yikes! She was like, gasping for air the whole time. I thought she was sick or drunk fr. I still love her though.
