@@snatcher8517 I'm the same way with Spanish as a cashier. Anytime I tell a person that mainly only knows Spanish that I can speak it, without fail the conversation goes to "how'd you learn it -> where are you from -> are your parents from Mexico? where?" which, as an extremely introverted person and a cashier trying to ring people out, isn't the greatest situation to willingly put yourself in.

I hope she does. I met a german lady at my gun shop once, she struggling to find english words to explain her predicament with being new to firearms. But I would catch her muttering German curses under her breath while trying to think, so I told her she could just speak German, that I understood and could speak it as well, this woman literally broke down in tears on the spot cuz she had been struggling for days trying to explain her issue in other stores. Just having someone be able to understand u in ur own tongue while ur still adjusting to a new place and language is a huge deal.

Man I love doing that to people. Being able to speak 4 languages, I love just messing with people. Not in like a mean way, but it's like fun seeing them scramble to speak another language. For example, I went to a healthcare store and there was a Chinese girl at the counter. I don't look Chinese, so I went up to her and started speaking Malay (I live in Malaysia). And she was scrambling so hard to look for Malay words to help me find what I want and it was very cute. After I got everything I paid at the counter, and out of nowhere I thanked her and told her like "If I need anything I'll come back here" in fluent Chinese and her face lit up. She's adorable. Y'know maybe I should ask her out sometimes, she's like super cute. But yeah, it's fun messing with people.

True. Learning a language like Japanese as an American is much more impressive than a lot of others since we're far less likely to ever need to know it than languages like Spanish, plus, East Asian languages take about twice as much time to learn as European languages. Takes a lot more dedication, which most Americans lack when it comes to learning foreign languages.

Breaking borders in communication can be one the greatest things Hololive has done. So many strong fans of the community from around the world has dived into multiple languages to try and communicate with others... I feel like Ina wouldn't be so flexible with Japanese if it wasn't for her being in Hololive. I dunno why, but I'm just super happy about this simple positive outcome Hololive has brought to the world.
