For those who are sad The last dwarf will die out, slowly, and soon bursts and goes out of existance. But it's not that bad. Think of it as your mom turning off the lights in your bedroom and going to sleep. After a while, you'll wake up, and it is morning. After a long time, something will come, and the universe will begin again. Soon, as time goes on, it's time to go to sleep again. Time to turn the lights off. The last star will die, and the universe will rest again. And soon, it'll wake up again.

With entropy, that's unlikely
@jackf86688 жыл бұрын
@mikejacobs14 Well, if the end of the universe is the opposite of the Big Bang, then Emerald's right. The Big Crunch, the opposite of the Big Bang, is when the universe becomes so large it can't expand anymore, and instead starts to contract. Black holes begin to come closer and closer together, eating all the matter and becoming bigger. They then start to combine because they're being pushed together, and form into the biggest supermassive black hole to ever exist, which finally eats the last of the matter. The black hole finally dies due to Hawking radiation, and then the universe sits still for a few seconds before another Big Bang occurs, creating the universe anew. Same universe, same explosion. It's possible that everything will form just like it did with the last copy, and the copy before it, and the copy before it, etc. etc. (That idea is the most beautiful theory on how the universe will end because the rest usually involve the universe getting too big to support regular matter and everything gets ripped apart 'n stuff.)

For anyone who didn’t understand the convective part: Stars fuse hydrogen in their cores. More massive stars only fuse hydrogen in their cores, so only the core hydrogen can be available for fusion, even though there is many hydrogen in the outer layer that can’t be fused unless it reaches the core. Red dwarfs, however, are able to mix the gas, bringing in fresh hydrogen from the outer layer to the core so it can be used for fusion. That way, they don’t waste so much fuel and so they are able the last longer. They also burn slower, making their fuel last even longer.

it's a "star" that failed to fuse the hydrogen inside. And not to say it's basically a useless gas. Gravity so weak, they can't hold a planet. Give a planet so close that it could orbit, it will burn them to crisp. A bit further it will be cold as at least pluto. And not to mention the planet would fly off out of the star gravity effect.

You kidding me? We're amazing. If other races don't do it before us, we're the only hope this universe has of surviving. Look how far we've come technologically in 500 years or so. Give us a tiny, tiny fraction of 500 million years and we've got this existence thng on lock. We've got less than a billion left on Earth. There are dozens of ways we can save Earth from being cooked by the brightening of the sun long before then. All life on Earth needs us, and it's sad that we'll end up killing a lot of it before we figure out how. Even now we can bring back many recently extinct species, only governmental law and conservationalists won't let us yet.

I remember when I was young "I don't wanna die I want to live where poeople are immortal" There's no way to beat life you will die no matter what. Just enjoy your life while you can.
Wilbur Holton idk why kurzgesagt highlighted your comment because he knows that we won't survive after the universe ends.
@1yougotrickrolled6036 жыл бұрын
Wilbur Holton do you really think everyone's going to get a cure for aging just like that.there will obviously be a price and it's not worth it. You'll most likely have depression because majority of your friends in your lifetime (the universe does end remember) won't be able to afford this and you'll attend alot of funerals before you end up dehydrated, starve or die due to any other cause.
@heek89646 жыл бұрын
the goat, depression ends, no matter what the price is it would be worth it, as if you are immortal you can pay off any amount of debt, and I don't think you can starve, get dehydrated, etc etc if you're digitally immortal, which would be the most likely form of immortality for those of us that are currently alive, as genetic modification would only really work on unborn children.

I won't be around for that, but if someone in a billion years looks back on this when they visit what's left of Earth to examine the remains of our civilization, I'd like to put this out: Good job, you made it.

Imagine being alive right before the last red dwarf is about to burn out. Whatever species is still alive at that point is gonna have to (figuratively) sit back, hold hands, and watch the end of the universe. By that time though, those species would be robots so they won't feel depressed about it, unless robots by that time are so sophisticated that they'll feel human emotions too.

+Arnold Palmer Yes, yes, the US is the only reason the world hasn't erupted into violence, as the US has a purely stabilizing effect on the world /sarcasm In all seriousness, no, the world is unlikely to fall to chaos if the US scaled back its military. The US antagonizes roughly as much as it stabilizes. How many of the US's enemies have either been directly created by it, or indirectly thanks to rather poor management? How many of the remaining threats only have the arsenals they have because the US has the arsenal it has? Really, if you consider China and Russia to be major threats to the US, then clearly there are massive inefficiencies. The US spends 3 times as much as both of them combined. If you're spending that much more than all of your potential enemies combined and still consider them such major threats that prohibit lowering the budget, then you have a major failing and it's not something that more money will fix. It's an indication that somewhere, there's a massive inefficiency. Now don't get me wrong, I'm against cutting all funding to the military. I am all for bringing it more in line with the global average for military spending, cutting it by a third. That still leaves the US with twice the military budget of China and Russia combined. And we're ignoring a rather important point while we're at it, the US has allies, and shockingly enough they have substantial standing militaries of their own. Turns out they aren't reliant on a couple of little US bases sprinkled around the area for all of their defensive needs.

It's fascinating that our baseline measurement for time is an Earth year, so that our simple minds can somewhat understand the concept of how long these stars live. In the future, when we are no longer on Earth, I wonder how we'll measure time

Humans are good at one thing in particular surviving at the mist extreme conditions, so it's not hard to believe that in the far future some guy will see the last star burnout in the universe.
