Two nice things about this board: 1. YOU CAN TAKE IT ON AN AIRPLANE(BATTERY MEETS LI-ION LIMITATIONS) 2. YOU CAN USE IT LIKE REGULAR BOARD AND ACTUALLY USE YOUR LAZY BUTT TO POWER THE THING DOWN THE STREET WITH NO RESISTANCE FROM A BELT OR CHAIN DRIVE IF THE BATTERY DOES DIE. 3....JUST SAYIN"

We were pleasantly surprised to find that even after it dies, it is still charging as long as the wheels move. Pretty slick.

I've had 3 of them for several years. Fly with them and use them all the time. 7 batteries and I've never been stranded. Best boards ever.

chybagus that is awesome to hear. We feel the same. About to go on a trip and we have no worries about bringing them on board.

Did I see FLL Beach in there for a second? Great place to ride, especially the back streets behind the hotels just south of Sunrise.

Well since I can't get a Back to the Future 2 style hoverboard, this is probably the next best thing.

Ha! It is almost as close. A hoverboard from Back 2 the Future would be pretty awesome. But even that one didn't have swappable batteries!

321 Kiteboarding & Watersports 37 seconds ago 135 subscribers Everyone has their own opinion on which drive system is better. I can tell you that the 2 boards we use every day and officially have over 200 miles on each of them have had no major issues. I will list my gripes for those of you who care: 1. The grip tape is really nice and grippy, good wet or dry. it does however peel and bubble easily. I will at some point replace it with aftermarket tape. 2. It gets dirty being black and I have to clean all the road grime off eventually 3. It does not have huge range. We are averaging 4 miles full on mode 3 and 6.5 miles on mode 2. We are fat (185lbs) so we have a spare battery charged. 4. And lastly, you cant go for more than a mile without someone stopping you to tell you how sweet the board is. we are always late.

@321kiteboarding
@321kiteboarding 7 жыл бұрын
Hello Sangam, yes I would, (for most people). 1 real advantage for the Boosted is if you live in a mountainous area and need actual hill climbing ability. At the same time, it will kill your battery on a Boosted and you don't have actual swappable batteries. ADVANTAGES M1: -airplane compatible (bring it anywhere with no fear of getting it left at the gate) -Swap batteries (no range anxiety---EVER) -Smooth acceleration and braking -super stealthy look, won't draw attention as an electric (unless you turn the headlights and tail lights on) -$100 less than the Dual + and it includes travel bag

I own one also and agree with you 100%. Another "pros" to the Inboard M1 over the Boosted Board is the firmware updates. This is a big deal for a consumer because they can update your board mph, torque, and many other things related to the board without having to release a whole new generation board like other e-board companies and charge you 1k+ dollars again. Amazing review Kiteboarding! Love your company as well.

Great points @jsl . Inboard started as a technology company, not a skateboard company, so their focus is on personal transportation. Much like Tesla only made cars to prove its battery technology, Inboard has built the board to grow with tech. Although it ships with a Flight safe battery now, it wouldn't be hard to make a denser and higher mileage or higher output battery as well.

Any chance you could be looking at the Raptor 2 from enertion? Seems to be its closest competitor in terms of price and motor style.
@321kiteboarding
@321kiteboarding 7 жыл бұрын
That board is way more expensive and very low production. I have not had a chance to ride it, but the M1 is super sleek, almost stealth. If you want people knowing you have an electric board, those styles call a lot of obvious attention to themselves vs. the Inboard.

321 Kiteboarding & Watersports I thought brand new M1s were around $1400 then a spare battery pack for $250. And the Raptor 2 finally hitting customers, albeit slowly, going for $1500-1600 currently and topping at $1700 at some point (shipping disregarded on both boards.

Good point. There will always be competitors, what the M1 does well are ride quality and portability and technology. I just flew across the country with mine as a carry-on. It was nice being able to have superior transportation anywhere I went. The board has many advantages when it comes to obsolescence. The battery can be upgraded for distance. Aesthetics are always a personal choice, but there isn't anything prettier than the M1 in my opinion.

this board is NOT water resistent, mine broke driving on wet streets - waiting for 3 days for an answer ("support will get back to you in 24 hours") - the battery is WAY underpowered compared to an evolve carbon street which lasts about 3 times what the inboard can handle...which will end up in you buying another 250$ battery...which puts you again in the ball park considering costs of a way better evolve (which I also own). If you make a paid endorsement at least mention it - you found no negative bullet points on the board
@321kiteboarding
@321kiteboarding 7 жыл бұрын
Not a paid endorsement, as you can see, we ride and sell them. I can assure you they are "splash resistant" and they have an IP rating. Of course, you can't get an electric longboard submerged or prolonged exposure to water, that is just common sense. I just flew across the country with my board and I am glad I could. That is one of the reasons that they have a flight safe battery and I was able to bring 2 packs with me, so I rode for hours. We didn't find any negatives, but with anything, power and acceleration are personal preferences. This board has as much power as any of the brands you mentioned. Torque and hill climbing are adequate for most areas (I was in Portland) they are based in Santa Cruz. If you need a hill climbing monster, Boosted or Evolve may be a better option, but they have comparative drawbacks as far as usable range, noise, maintenance, and features. That does not make them bad, just different.

Sangam Chouchan Mine had 2 issues in the first month of owning it (1. front truck broken + motor issue, 2. headlights dead). Meaning I had to send it in twice. Every owner I know had to send it back at least once (needless to say that all of them had it for less than a couple of months).

shady 1080, thanks for the input. Tons more mileage and abuse put on them since making the vid, and still going strong. Most electric boards are going to be complicated and I know they have done their due diligence, but things do happen. How long ago were your issues? Did they resolve them quickly for you?

Agreed, everyone who bought it had to send it back. I had to send mine back after a month. The clean look, and battery is amazing and i really want it to work but im starting to get a feeling that it just doesnt. The durability of this board is just plain bad.

Battery really sucks. You'll be spending more on batteries than the board. It's 2019 and Inboard has reach the end of it's life time.

Jane Smitherson thanks for the comment. We sure haven’t seen that. we have been on the same 3 batteries for over 1 year and they still provide 5-6 miles at full speed for 180lb rider and a solid 10. miles on mode 2. we really love the fact that we can swap them out and bring multiple batteries with us for as much range as we need. at $99 for a battery, this board has been our go to electric along with the OneWheel for our Off Road needs. Let us know if you have had an issue with your battery, I bet we could get that resolved for you if there is a malfunction.

Wow amazing how people think this board is good, had the chance to ride one and it's amazingly garbage won't go up 15% hill grade the hub motor make a nasty sound not even a smooth sound, and it's very slow. the only cool thing about the board is it looks sexy that's about it, people do your homework before buying this board that's all I ask, I even thought the koowheel for $500 was a better board ..

Tone Touch we are all entitled to our own opinion. There are plenty of other reviews out there and none of them will say this board is slower. In fact last time I checked 22mph is a standard measurement. Acceleration is of course less aggressive than belt motors, but it is much smoother and more manageable for most riders. There are really only 3 top line board brands right now and Inboard M1 is definitely in that group. The other 2 are belt driven and have their own pluses and minuses.

@321kiteboarding
@321kiteboarding 6 жыл бұрын
justforthetv we have been using ours for about 1 year, everyday. At 180lbs in mode 3 I get about 5 miles, mode 2: 9-10miles. They are the only turkey swappable battery I have seen. I carry 2 of them if I am going around town exploring and can ride all day. The BIGGEST benefit is that if you forget to charge one battery, you always have the other, unlike a board that only has an “internal” battery. If you forget to charge that, you have instant Range Anxiety!

Bonzo Bonzai I can tell you haven’t ridden one. Great hill climbing, swappable battery is the way to go. You mention update, it’s nice to have a board that hasn’t gone obsolete just so you have to buy whatever new version comes out every 8 months, but yes, the grip tape sucks.
