What is your opinion? Do you like the idea of an Inbox in Heptabase or do you have a different workflow to capture incoming information?

100% Agree with this vision. For the most time I feed Heptabase through reader, The handing over of information could extremely profit from an inbox like you suggest. Hope the cry is heard ...

First off, love your videos on the subject of Heptabase. Thank you. Second, I love this idea, and I like the idea of the Inbox being another meta app creating a segregated area for incoming notes outside of the card library. Seems cleaner. Although adding card library functionality as you describe might make the implementation faster. Thanks again and look forward to more insightful videos.

I think I quite agree with you about an inbox in Heptabase being very useful, as I also like myself to throw quick notes and thoughts somewhere safe where I can get back later to put things in order. As I said here earlier on, what would be really helpful in my opinion and which is quite related with the matter of an inbox would be Heptabase to offer the possibility to quickly capture audio notes that would be automatically transcribed into text (using OpenAI's Whisper for instance) and stored in the inbox. This way users like me who like - or have to - capture audio notes would be able to do it, on the move for instance, and have it stored directly to their favorite note-taking app. I suffer from muscular dystrophy so composing text is very difficult for me and has to be done using voice anyway. So having the capture and transcription done automatically for me in the app would be a tremendous feature which would truly benefit my note taking process and make it way more efficient.

Good idea Tom because right now I am using Notion as my inbox or slipbox for ideas so I don't lose anything (being that new notes would be inputed in a Notion database) and then I use Heptabase to focus on current writing and pull from Notion when needed.

The inbox concept would be a great addition. Right now I use the TWOS app for quick notes which then get copied and pasted into Heptabase. Would be so much smoother with a well designed and implemented inbox.

I agree! I’m very interested in Heptabase but ease of capture is critical. I do have another question. ?? Does anyone have any concerns about the data security of the company ?? I would like to recommend the app for my wife, but my reading of the company policy did not reassure me.

Yes, this being missing is problematic to my workflow, presently, without an inbox it means I have to not only move something into heptabase, but also take time to think about how to link it in with other things. This takes me away from where I am in something else, resulting in context switching and loss of flow. Would be much easier to throw into heptabase, then go back into an inbox to decide how to use the information within heptabase at a different time. I can only assume the purpose of this video is to try and win favour to push on the dev team to add it - whether that is the case or not, my vote is for add it - it wouldn't be difficult and would save all of us used to having an inbox having to change how we work to use the tool

I agree. It would be great to forward email into Hb the way I can with ToDoist. I also love the task surfacing in Hb, but that feature doesn’t exist in the mobile apps. I hope that’s in development too.

There are various problems when moving highlighted text from Pdf to whiteboard...and then creating a card. 1. Keeping Pdf location 2. if I just drag it into the card, I can't change the text. Pdf highlight location is kept. 3. Before making it a card, I can't make a connection. 4. To create a connection, you need to create a card individually and put it in. Conclusion If the inbox system can act as a filter for highlight texts and quickly turn them into cards It would be more consistent if the inbox system could act as a filter and quickly create cards...

The team of Heptabase is working on making any highlight into a card item, which should make things a lot easier.

I think more than an inbox, I am missing quick capture function! In iOS and iPad OS I can’t find a way of capturing any information without leaving the app I happened to be working on and going to Heptabase. This is why, as much as I love the other functions of the app, I am not using Heptabase.

I don't agree. I rather have the journal as a "timestamped" inbox. Ease of capture is important though but doesn't require an inbox per se. I think Capacities nailed the capture part tbh. Would love to see more way to capture info to "today" in my journal in Heptabase.

Why doesn't the journal serve the purpose of an Inbox? You get a new card for every day and you just dump your ideas into it and then organise them later.

It’s really more an issue when capturing data on mobile or via a browser extension. Which isn’t possible yet…but hopefully will, together with a proper inbox.

I agree we need a fully formed but simple inbox function for fleeting thoughts, websnips, screenshots, audio notes, and other information shared via Apple-share mechanism in the simplest way possible ( I also agree with other comment that journal/daylog is a perfectly acceptable place to deposit these items as long as it is possible to flag up unprocessed items in heptabase) So that I know what to look at at review-inputs time. Alternatively (and maybe better)😢 all source material from any feed including Readwise etc should ask appear together in a single inbox for consideration and processing. Mechanism should exist to prevent duplicate entries If all entries are dated then this tired back to any other journal entries
