I tried Heptabase and I understand how to use all the features - but I felt the friction of always having to think about on which whiteboard I should put a card. For now I will stick with Logseq - I can just write and still use whiteboards in the specific use cases where I need them. Thank you still for this helpful video.

That's not how you should use heptabase you should start by quickly capturing idea with journal or just creating a card when you need to organize the thought then start using whiteboards and add cards into the board
@WarrenKirkpatrick11 ай бұрын
@@daniel-twI agree with you apart from your first point.. I think all journaling should be done in books, think it’s better for the mind being analogous at times but agree with the rest.

You can put cards into as many whiteboard as you want and you can even put whiteboards into other whiteboards. Zero friction.

Hi Tom, what does the Paperless Movement use for quick capture of thoughts?
@paperlessmove Жыл бұрын
In our "PKM like a Pro" course, we delve into the critical distinction between Shallow Thinking and Deep Thinking. We introduce Heptabase as a tool specifically designed for Deep Thinking exercises. When it comes to capturing thoughts, the nature of the thought matters, and we guide you in categorizing them effectively across various platforms. This ensures that you can instantly decide where to store any information, regardless of its complexity. We primarily utilize Reader by Readwise for Shallow Thinking and Heptabase for Deep Thinking. Furthermore, our course provides actionable strategies for transitioning information from Shallow to Deep Thinking systems and, ultimately, transforming that information into meaningful action. If you're interested to learn more about our approach to knowledge management, we invite you to explore the course further: paperlessmovement.com/pkm-course/ This being said, when it comes to the general capture process we have another course called "Digital Note-Taking like a Pro" in which we dive a lot deeper into general note-taking. There we also talk about "temporary notes". Tom for example uses Apple Notes a lot in order to just jot things quickly down, but then processes those notes later on. For more details, have a look here: paperlessmovement.com/digital-note-taking-course/ Does this answer your question? We are here if you need anything else 💚

@@paperlessmove sort of, so Apple Notes? Unless you also use Readwise Reader for quickly capturing your thoughts throughout your day

Hey there @@twosballer ! Paco (our Co-Founder) and I are forcing the things to really move relevant information into the correct Single Source of Truth(es). This also includes Project Management software (in our case ClickUp). If there is an idea, we have an Idea Incubator inside ClickUp. Thoughts relevant to any bucket in Heptabase, it goes there directly. If there is no time or a tool that is not easy to quick capture, then we use intermediate tools (even just Todoist, to quickly jot things down and then calmly process it later into it's final destination) What's the point of quickly capturing thoughts in an app/paper note book, just for the sake of it. Also, it's crucial not to capture everything you see. I always ask myself, would I find it faster by just googling it again, than going to my PKM? If so, I don't even capture it at all. This being said, a lot more videos are coming going deeper into the differentiation and that it's running flawlessly, without friction or overcomplicating things. So either checkout the courses as mentioned by the team before, or stay tuned on this channel to learn more. :) This being said, what do you use for quick capture? Just one tool for all or any methods?

i tumble between capacities and Heptabase. Heptabase has no graph view with links for quick overview, the maps view is quite big and overwhelming if you'd do research or thinking. capacities has a Graph view and a wall for overview. but no map. i don't know what is better for me cause I come from Devonthink but hated that there was no views just lists. a map is big and a good overview. now I am in obsidian but all the plugins , no way. canvas is nice but but but... there I no video out there for Heptabase vs capacities and both apps grow extremely fast the last months. what is you views on both. even I see your Heptabase minded. ?
