Slowest Fire Department I ever saw! Moving their trucks over 10 minutes in different directions, no platforms with massiv water attacks, etc...
@Aprilsraven6295 жыл бұрын
This was not 1 building but several so attack has to be done on all 4 corners to cover all exposures at risk, the building flashed over at 10 min so trucks move to were there needed most hence moving them and depending on what type is needed...slow no cautious calculated assesment was imperitive for safe ops and maxium attack
@Feuerwehrmann945 жыл бұрын
The first time of any kind of incident is called the chaotic time. You have to check several points: - Are there any civilists or casualties - Where to locate your ressources (trucks, manpower, water supply) - Protect the environment In this case it was a really big structure fire and you need a lot of time to check of those things. And if you still believe they were too slow just join your local fire department ;)

If that location had a water supply issue I can see the lack of master streams early on. Other than that, ... well I got nothing. Early on, a hard exterior attack in to the top floor windows from the A and D sides may have darkened it enough to buy time and get the ladder pipes in to play. At the very least it would likely have postponed the collapse long enough to get the ladder pipes elevated and positioned to tackle the roof collapse and the bonfire that followed. Looked like no pre-plan, no strategic placement of first due engines and ladders, not sure what that truck company was doing that roll by early on. The BC that took the A/B sidewalk corner seemed lost. (B-side is the one facing the camera for arguments sake.) About the only company that was even making an attempt was in the A-side parking lot with either a 2 1/2 or a ground master stream. It was hard to tell. The FF’s on the B/C corner were obviously not getting water pressure, although unless they were trying to protect come cars or something that stream was not going to do anything but quash some ground embers. Over all, that was painful to watch and will be used for my next training as a table top WWYD event. And yes, I am a certified FF with a degree in fire science.
@trevjr Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. I am new to fires but I assumed they were doing an inside attack because of the white smoke. When the fire broke thru the roof none of the tower ladders were in position. A view down the street shows at least 4 towers on the street. Why weren't they prepared? Plenty of time to secure water supply and position towers before it broke thru roof. I was just yelling at the screen 'where is the water?' Roof is fully involved and there is a tower truck moving into position on the street. Someone needs to be fired over this incompetence.

Total Incompetence, 15 Fire Trucks sitting around with no clue what to do for 30 minute. Quick Tip is to actually squirt the water ON THE FIRE. Obvious lack of Training to common in Fire Deptartments. Luckily the Fire Walls between buildings aloud the fire to BURN ITSELF OUT.

@mayki2k5 жыл бұрын

If you look it the windows early on the smoke was everywhere from were the cameras angle from three story's from the top. On a structure this size it's hard to have the resources to gain on a fire. First ..evacuation alone took up a lot of the firefighters. Send the 4th or 5th unit in to evaluate but they are only seeing 5% of the issues. The only suppression that is going on first is the standpipes. Obviously this place didn't have a working smoke or fire suppression system, if so the sprinklers would have snuffed it before the FD was called. Do your research on large fires like ybor city fire in 2000 in Tampa Florida 4 to 6 square blocks of fire extremely fast moving fire. The first unit from a block away pulled out of the station calling for 2nd alarm and a 3rd alarm within a couple of minutes after that. If I remember right it was around 7 or 8 alarms in the end but the moral to the story is that once the fire is so big you are going to fighting a uphill battle inch by inch. Once the fire broke through the roof the penetration of the streams went to almost zero. What you say about the FD is wrong you are only seeing it from one angle and not seeing the whole picture.
@Barflax4 жыл бұрын
Bad leadership, can't see any early attack. What setup if any? Firetruckers coming and goes somewere, laddertrucks don't do nothing. Did they wait for open fire before doing what they supposed to do from the beginning?

I haven't watched the video yet, but I can give you some general information. The first arriving officer has to look for any hazards which may put his crews in danger. Wires, imminent collapse, etc. Also, the crews need to hook into water supplies that may not be readily accessible. Examples would be vehicles parked in front of hydrants, hydrants that aren't working, older buildings with no Fire Department Connections, etc. I hope this helps some.
@gpray4surff4124 жыл бұрын
Yes, you have to train and have standard operating procedures as well as sufficient manpower Most depts don’t have enough staffing to fight this kind of fire Relying on sprinklers and other fire prevention methods to prevent this This was probably literally a trash can in an upper floor office when they first arrived Could’ve put it out with a water gun lotta smoke Little fire
@thebigrighthand77284 жыл бұрын
but why start putting water on the fire then stop for 10 mins pls don't tell me they have to have a meeting first, no wonder the fire spread so fast, surely the fire brigade should already know the ins and outs of the building like where the fire escapes are where the water outlets are how many ppl are in the building at any 1 time, and i also think that if there were fire hoses installed on every floor like at my old school and my place of work that fire wouldn't of got so big so fast because any 1 could of started to fight that fire while the fire brigade were on route and had there meeting first ofcourse

I'll never understand why people, when filming something of this nature, don't just leave the camera alone. You had a clear, steady picture...and then the zooming begins, and the moving the the reflections, blocking what we are seeing. I mean, we all know that "smoke goes up, for the most part. Smoke is an end result. Or, it can be a harbinger of something worse coming- as we saw here. Why? Because this fire had not found it's food supply yet, meaning, enough oxygen to really get going. Otherwise? All the moving, zooming, etc? It makes people seasick. Frame your shot, and then let the camera do it's job. You only need to move the camera, if the event, itself moves, or something of greater importance is viewed, and you want to capture it. Otherwise? Just let us watch what you're watching, that is what you are attempting to do, correct? Just some suggestions.
