Why Backlinks are Important (And How To Get Them)

I Noticed something extremely interesting today at work.
If you search Italian Coat Brands (Search volume around 100 per month) Then both IsuiT and 2Men appear on the SERP.
This is interesting because first of all it’s a buyer keyword, and we’re dominating the SERP.

But it’s interesting for another reason.
If you search Coat Brands (900 searches per month) then only IsuiT appears on the SERP, even though the article is much newer.
This is because the authority of IsuiT generally is much higher, both because of backlinks but also domain age.
This is how authority actually works, and there’s really nothing better than having a matured or aged domain with some good backlinks.
Once you understand what authority actually is, it’s time to increase it
Now, I focus on topical authority, which means building authority with blog posts - this is the part of SEO and authority that I have covered completely on my channel.
HOWEVER - it’s well known in the SEO Industry that if you want to compete for super competitive keywords, then the best way to do that is with Backlinks.
Now let’s talk about it
If you look at the example of Kiton on IsuiT, we were originally ranking extremely well for it. However, ever since more and more people started selling this brand, with websites that are much more authoritative than IsuiT, we dropped out of the top rankings
However, with the strategy I’m going to show you in this video, we managed to scrape back to rankings and we’re not back on the top page of Google.
This strategy is as follows
Set up a PressWire press release and give the main pages and anchor texts as the keyword you’re trying to rank for
This is a fairly simple process, you just need to write a description of your brand, and give them the keywords and anchor text you’re trying to rank for. The costs are relatively low as well, and this is a great boost for a new website, but it’s not enough to rank on Google for competitive keywords
The second part of this you have a choice, either you can do manual outreach and say you’re a freelance writer who wants to practice, and ask if you can post to their website. The incentive here is that they get free content that will rank on Google, and normally if they’re not in direct competition with you, they will accept. They may sometimes ask for a small fee.
The other option here, is to sign up to HARO and respond to their requests. This is potentially slower, but you can get much higher quality backlinks this way.
Overall, it’s advised to take a balanced approach, not build too many backlinks at once, don’t buy backlinks from backlink sellers, and to use various methods to build the backlinks.

You can offer to post their socials and no follow their backlink. That only negatively affects SEOs and at the end of the day HARO is not for backlink exchanging. You’re also just asking for a backlink in return - or a “link to my website” as you should probably call it. A lot of HARO is convincing noobs to give you a link without them realising the use of it for you. Also you have to consistently hide who you are and lie about your intentions which is just as greasy (you have to lie about not being an SEO.) SEO is pretty cut throat at the end of the day. Especially backlinking which is why I’m always hesitant to make these videos. Also why I don’t personally do it. But I’m seeing the power of it on 2men/isuit and I’m definitely up for it now. HARO isn’t for backlinks we just use it for that. And if you just do a straight up link for link then it’s not going to add any juice. So yeah - I don’t think it’s fair, but it’s the way to do it. I probably didn’t explain myself clearly in this particular video as it was an overview - I’ll explain it in more detail in my follow up
