Hey everybody! Just a quick #shorts video to show you the best method I've found to increase hang time on the bar. This is actually the same method I've used to increase reps on push ups, pull ups and other exercises too. It's all about frequent submaximal sets. Treat your fitness like a PRACTICE. It's seriously the best way to build strength. Pavel calls it "greasing the groove," but whatever you choose to call it, high-frequency submaximal training works wonders. You can do this in addition to 1x or 2x per week pull workouts too.

Can someone explain this a bit to me? Are you training your grip str? Core? Is this to help you do pull ups?

I'm having troubles for ring false grips. It slips out mostly I've a tight grip on bar but I'm struggling with ring muscle ups can you help?

Are you doing any false grip drills or regressions with false grip? If you jump straight into muscle up training it will be too much. Have patience and do drills for a while to strengthen your false grip, then return to muscle up training.

do you need a bar that is high enough for you feet to not touch the floor when keeping your body straight for a dead hang or can you use a doorway pullup bar?

Doorway is fine as it’ll still increase grip strength. The high bars allow you to engage total body tension, which is helpful for controlling your body throughout movements on the bar because you feel lighter when your whole kinetic chain is engaged.

I’ve just started hanging and I find that my inner elbow area gets sore after I release. After only 30 seconds. Am I risking injury or is this normal and gets better over time?

Sounds like a little tendonitis. It’s normal when you’re new to it. Don’t practice any more hanging or pulling exercises until the soreness goes away. Tendons take a lot longer to strengthen than muscle, so have patience and be as consistent as you can while letting it rest enough to heal each time. Eventually the soreness will stop happening (until you start adding weight with a vest 😉)

I think changing the bar diameter is actually very functional.

Functional is one thing, but it’s not ideal for measuring progress in my experience
