This is a great tip . Just one thing though , do you mean 20-30 times in the lifetime of the part or 20 -30 times in one visit. That's 20-30 clicks for one adjustment.? I'm assuming that a valve is being pushed in to create more pressure. If so how far in can this be pushed til it has no more push in it. ? John And PS , I was planning on making an adjustment tomorrow by loosening the screw/fastener right next to the filter opening . I changed the AtF a couple of days ago and whilst under there I decided to check the 12 or so screws {foolishly) .There were a few screws that were looser than the rest and I turned them maybe an eight of a turn. That eight is enough to jam lightly clamp up an internal piston (for lack of the correct term) which will hesitate to move for a second or three . When I got in and drove I felt the hesitation immediately and knew straight away what the problem was .Some guy on you tube demonstrated this very clearly . I wish I'd saved that vid. So it seems like there are 2 techniques to fine tuning our 01m/s Interesting! So anyway , 20-30 for one adjustment?

My 02 has 150k, dirty as motor oil, very slow shifting. i changed filter and oil, it got better. (added a treatment to fluid) Still slips, but only at stop signs, so now I will try the pressure increase. 5 clicks to start, just enough to stop the slip so I don't tear it up.

Another way to do this is to change the transmission to “sport” mode with VCDS. I think it increases line pressure without having to actually go into the transmission. It can solve some shifting issues when on a slight incline but your fluid level has to be correct to begin with.

Does that also increase the RPM for each gear between shifts as well? I had somehow put mine in “eco mode” at one point and the shift points were much sooner than standard mode

I'm going to try this on mine. It's been a decent unit but has been slow shifting intermittently to third gear. I was wondering if something like this was possible. Glad I stumbled on your video. I will let you know how it turns out.

How long did the trans last after you did this? I’ve turned mine 5 times and have been driving it but need a bit more line pressure since I’m turbo and upstairs slips a bit

Good video! What if my line pressure is up of the nominal pressure. There should be 60 psi in idle, but I have 110 psi (170 psi in reverse). How can I lower the pressure? Could it be a solenoid, witch one? Thanks

I have a slow shift only going from 3rd to 4th where it feels like the transmission almost disengages and then re-engages. Should I try this when I change my fluid? It’s a 2004 2.0 beetle

Hey so i just didnt a valve body replacement on a o1m because of a faulty sensor now it will only shift into first and third. Could it be because i didnt adjust this valve?

There hasn't been a lot of definition of what a "better" shift is though I assume "crisper" means the actual shift itself is a shorter duration. Does anyone have any experience with this mod effecting/reducing/eliminating flair, particularly 2-3 flair?

Wondering the same thing Howard. My 01 Jetta with this transmission and the 2.8 VR6 flares badly between 2 and 3. Have you ever gotten an answer or repair for that issue?

@@benjaminturrano6485 Did you ever hear anything? My TDI does the same thing and even though it's supposedly normal and not harmful, I don't like it.

@@dyoel182 no unfortunately after diagnosing and adjusting and replacing valve body and solenoids I finally listened to every VW owner with that transmission and engine combo and had the transmission removed and swapped with a 5spd stick. That automatic is apparently barely adequate for the 2.0 engine. The tdi and VR6 with the increased torque just chew up the 01M transmission.

And How many liters of fluid should be filled with 01m transmission? (3,5-3,8 liters?)

So if you turn the other way does it reduce the line pressure or can this be undone by going the other way?

You can only turn it the way it shows in video. No going back other way to reduce line pressure. You will snap the cog fins if you do go opposite way. Once done no going back to how it was before.

The biggest problem with these transmissions is the valve body. The best thing u can do is put a transgo shift kit in before you even have an issue. People think these transmissions are junk but they almost always fail because the valve body has an issue and people keep driving which ruins the transmission.

Sound like it's low on fluid if it's not engaging at idle, but does as soon as the rpms come up

+Ryan VWDiesel . Great video dude. I only pass along what the transmission guys say without comment. In CoolAirVW faq, he recommends 4 clicks. I guess it all depends how loosey goosey the valve body is.
