Have you ever wondered what other therapies to pair with hyperbaric oxygen therapy? There are several modalities that have synergy with the hyperbaric chamber, and in this video we’re going to discuss how to increase the benefits of hyperbaric oxygen therapy with red light therapy.
You'll often hear me say that hyperbaric oxygen therapy is not treating disease. It's not a cure for illnesses. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is a tool designed to improve the amount of oxygen that we can drive and absorb into the body.
Our cells that require oxygen for functioning, healing, regeneration, and energy to do their normal tasks benefit greatly with a little bit of extra oxygen that can be delivered by the use of something like hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
This can massively improve the performance of our cells, and can initiate a lot of really positive health changes.
While the hyperbaric chamber is an amazing tool, there are so many great modalities out there today, and several of them have powerful synergies that can add up to major health benefits.
In this video we're going to talk about the specific synergies between hyperbaric oxygen therapy and red light therapy, and why you should consider pairing them together.
Red light therapy is an amazing modality. There's a ton of information out there about red light therapy, but not a lot about how it works well with the hyperbaric chamber (and why).
On their own they each have some amazing benefits. There are a few things they BOTH do well, but in slightly different ways, which is why this combo packs a powerful punch:
-They both increase the performance of our mitochondria, resulting in more energy production.
-They both reduce inflammation.
-They both reduce free radical damage.
So let’s discuss WHY they work well together, and how red light therapy can increase the benefits of hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

Yes I have used lasers, large magnets, auriculotherapy, and placed the hyperbaric chamber on a large programmable vibrating table all at the same time. From my personal perspective it produces a profound synergistic effect.

I have been experimenting with using oxygen every 5 minutes and then not using it for 5 minutes. From my personal data experience 5 minutes on and 5 minutes off produces higher spo2 readings then being on oxygen for the entire 60 minutes

I have tried doing Hof breathing technique while in the hacker Berry chamber. From my personal experience it does not work very well. The spo2 during the recovery between each breathing cycle never goes low enough to get the profound effects that hof promotes

@@drdemko1 😄 isn’t it wonderful? I listen to ocean sounds with headphones & get the best restful sleep in there. I honestly it helps everything in the body. Recently fractured my wrist from a fall. Ligament damage takes a long time to heal but my orthopedic doctor said I was healing really well at my final check up. I did lots of red light & about 10/12 hbot sessions in a 2 month period.

Nice combination. Some clinics in the states are already doing this. A fantastic resource would be the The ILA. They have numerous experts from all over the world with great knowledge and experience on light therapy spanning decades. Red light therapy was the work of the brilliant Russian scientist Tina karau. She is actually Estonian. The Russians have done a lot in this field and there is so much we can’t get access to. Some red light therapy beds I have used are Novorthor and Lightstim. Most of the brands have suntan styled beds but Lightstim is totally different. Hue light a South Korean brand has added Nogier frequencies. A German product takes it much further with soft laser, pulsation, magnetic therapy and homeopathic transmission. And in Hungary there is the Sensolite light therapy which uses polarized light covering the entire light spectrum and have had great results. That was the work of Marta Fenyo. Polarized light is used in Bioptron.

I'm currently using HBOT for Radiation cystitis from proton laser therapy for prostate cancer in 2014. I've had two cystoscopy and cleaning bladder with zero signs of cancer. Additionally, all PSA since 2014 have been near zero at, 0.02 Thirty-five treatments in and not noticeable reduction of passing blood. I'm not sure if it is that my radiation damage was not treated with HBO earlier that might be the challenge. I'm hopeful that time in the chamber will correct the damage to the small vessels surrounding the prostate and I can stop passing blood. Any input regarding this treatment would be appreciated.

Doctor I am a sports massage and cupping therapist (both wet , massage and fire cupping) in the UK and I was wondering if you could shed more light on HBOT plus wet cupping/dry cupping and sports massage - could both therapies augment or increase the therapeutic effects of each modality? (if combined with HBOT) I also utilize led light therapy during treatments. I'd love if you could do a video about HBOT combined with other modalities.

awesome content. Starting my HBOT next week for post concussion (4 years). This in combination with on going neurofeedback training and just bought myself the MITPRO 300 red light series. Question; as it not the size of the full body, but strong enough to reach the complete head / neck area. You would see value in this as well? Thanks

Great videos Doctor. I have debilitating Tinnitus and a local Chiropractic Doctor has a new red light bed. Did some quick research and read that the red light therapy does create ROS … and my inner ears were originally damaged via ROS production of Gentamicin. Would you recommend red light therapy and / or HBOT for Tinnitus? I’ve seen some studies where the outcomes were beneficial. Thank you in advance. Regards , Dr. Joe

I would recommend yes. Oxygen delivery for increased healing is a challenge here and hbot has been shown to help drive oxygen more effectively to the cochlea. Red light and cold laser is known to increase nitric oxide and would help increase vasodilation of the area. It makes sense to two could work together for this purpose as well.

Great video Dr. Sonner. We love all your videos, it is so easy to understand! My son, Daniel, had done both HBOT and mHBOT for years. Recently, we switched from mHBOT to Red light, near inferred, and red infrared light therapy to give our body a break. I've a question, can we shine the Red light and near inferred red light through the soft chamber window (about couple feet away from the chamber) on our head outside of the chamber for 15-20 minutes? Because Daniel has severe cerebral palsy and has limited amount of time for therapy session. This way, I can cut his therapy time for 20 minutes. Do you see any harm in that, as long as we don't heat up the plastic on the chamber?

The power and benefits of red light are also based on the distance that light is away from the the body. In my opinion it is worth separating these therapies and getting the red light closer to him and his body before the hbot sessions. I know it’s time consuming but I think more benefit will be had!

@@HBOTUSA Thank you, we now do 15 minutes of red light/near inferred light therapy just before mhbot. I've also added Red Lamp Infrared Light Therapy as well, because, I try to remove as much clothing off him as possible, so that his body can expose more of the red light therapy; however, doing so he get cold easily due to circulation problems and dystonia. That's why I added the red infrared heating lamp to keep him warm with the green goggle to protect his eyes. Do you see any harm in what we are doing? Does it matter when he does his Red Light therapy, such as, would he more beneficial if he does it right before mhobt vs light therapy in the morning then mhobt in the evening? If I could do red light therapy in the morning, I can also add castor oil pack liver detox to boost his healing, then bath him afterward.

Have you tried the Theta Chamber for Daniel? It was invented by a gentleman in 1989 for his (then) 4 year old son who also had cerebral palsy. The son is 39 now, speaks 5 languages, is a second dan black belt and has no signs of cerebral palsy. Worth watching some of the videos online - hope it helps. Best, Brett

Dr. Sonners - My sister is currently using the Vielight light therapy device for MCI and receiving HBOT. Since the device is battery powered, do you think there be more benefit to using the Vielight device while she's in the chamber, assuming the chamber is air filled and not O2 filled?
