The Doc is entertaining for sure. LOL. But I'm a believer in his product. I've been using the X3 system for about a year. It's definitely made a BIG difference in my life. I work out 3 times a week, watch what I eat (cheat a bit on the weekend) and get plenty of sleep. I'll be 67 and I'm in the best shape of my life. I get hit on NOW more than I did back in the day. As Miyamoto Musashi, who wrote THE BOOK OF FIVE RINGS said, "There are many ways to the top of a mountain." Likewise, there are many ways to achieve muscular overload, which is needed for positive adaptation to occur. Most home gym owners use progressively heavier weights to achieve muscular overload. However, this is just one way out of many ways to achieve muscular overload. Elasticity, like by using resistance bands and bungee cords, is another way. Grip compression is yet another. Self resistance by pitting opposing muscle groups against each other, like in Charles Atlas Dynamic Tension exercises, is yet another. Overcoming inertia, like in flywheel exercise machine training is yet another. Even Powerlifters use resistance bands, which they use with Olympic bars with and without weightplates for their Dynamic Effort Strength Training exercises, which is lifting nonmaximal weight or exerting nonmaximal effort as quickly as they can. Every home gym owner, who want to avoid muscular accommodation, which is when muscular endurance, size, and strength gains stop if you do the same exercises with the same exercise equipment using the same strength training method too long, should have and use resistance bands as a way to rotate exercises and exercise tools.

I have listened to this guy multiple times. He sells bands as "outrageously superior" to weights (quote from the video). He holds to a few valid points and uses them to discredit conventional ways to create resistance. I use bands. They are great. I use them in conjunction with barbell training. Calling weights a "waste of time" is shortsighted. The only reason he loves bands is because he is selling them. He speaks like he is academically motivated to change physical training, but it is all about his bank account. He attacks weights and completely ignores the shortcomings of training exclusively with bands.

Hi Mike , I’m 59 years old diabetic for over 33 years, make this a little short , I change my life in March 2022 came across on KZbin Dr Ken Berry and I owe my life to him , keto then switched to carnivore, I’m off of one of my insulin and these doctors in Barbados have no idea about reversing diabetes, on doctor told me to take my insulin and have a piece of cake 😃 I discovered Dr Jaquish late last year and invested in the X3 did it sometimes lack of energy because I had gut issues on another drug called Victoza GLP1 like Ozempic. Anyway March of 2023 went and joined the gym with a personal trainer 3 days a week and in 5 months saw no change to my body and weight had the scan before I started and 5 months in and lost a little body fat and gain a little muscle and I was training really really hard. So with that said I adjusted my med the last 3 months and started the X3 and wow I had a very noticeable muscle 💪 improvement, my biceps lights up like a Christmas tree . I reached out too Daniel Magyar to train me but didn’t follow through because of personal problems. I really believe in Dr Jaquish this is working 🙏

I’ve been using bands for over 13 years. Started off bodylastics back when Terrell Owens promoted them. Then I went to undersun bands , then made a knockoff C3 with a bar and cutting board. Next I purchased an X3 then I sold my X3 and purchased a Harambe System. Prior to the I was a gym and weight guy . I squatted 450, benched 350, and deadlifted 500+. So I didn’t build my physique from bands but I’ve always used them since I’ve started lifting and for the past 10 years I’ve not used weights and I still look better than most people in the gym at 37. It’s mostly diet the stimulus is just preferential . Just like Mentzer vs Arnold’s approaches to lifting . They all work it’s just what you like. Weights are more dangerous but make it easier to overload in small intervals that you can’t do with bands unless you’re using the Force bar which is far to expensive for most people to consider .

Awesome Interview! I use X3 for part of my training. Found that arms do better with TRX and chest is better with slow deep pushups with bars for a deeper stretch. I only do bent rows for back with X3 and tested the strength out of the last two weeks. Cut down big tree, picked up large chunks and moved them around, and then took down my chainlink fence removing posts with a lot of lower back work... I think the only reason I haven't thrown out my back the last two weeks is due to X3 bent rows.

I believe the guy from Harambe built all of his muscle from solely resistance bands and he recently took 2nd in a body building competition. He also recently posted some videos where he dead lifts like 400lbs claiming all of his strength came from only training with Harambe. One of the few videos I’ve seen where someone has only trained resistance bands then tests strength with real weights

I'd love to talk to him about that. Last time I spoke to him he was very in favor of using free weights but said more or less he wanted to show what was possible with using bands alone. I want to put any words in his mouth though. I think the only push back I hear with "band alone" results is the mass or size factor.

As a current X3 band user and former iron user, I will say weight lifting is not a waste of time but it could waste your tendons & joints a bit if you're aging. As such, I would not recommend X3 to a 25 year old, but definitely could advocate it for a 50 year old. The X3 is not as good as weights, but a good trade-off if you're trying to hold on to gains and avoid injury as an older user.

Its not the modality but how you apply it. I own an X3 bar and like it, but I love weights as well and calisthenics. Why limit yourself to just one modality instead of getting the best of all? To claim weights are a waste of time is just ignorant at best. Many people built their physiques with weights. Sure, many haven’t as well but that’s probably due to lack of consistency, intensity, sleep, food, stress, genetics or a mix of all. And if you lack some or all of that, X3 won’t help you much either. You can build a great body with just bands as well as calisthenics as well as just weights. So just play around with it, have fun and do what you like and can be consistent with.

Hi Mike, you know from my own experience I have used weights for years and I found weights punish your body and joints when I started using bands and the TRX. This type of training allows you to work more often with less pain to the body and joints. The conditioning seems more beneficial, and the results appear more lasting and continuous over time. You realize with free weights you level off over time and many hardcore free-weight users then resort to using drugs to force growth. Even calisthenics using bars and body weight you can get some incredible results and add a weighted vest to increase your body. Dr. J is using science to gain results and many people use the equipment with proven results.

I used the X3 for four months and to say that I was underwhelmed by the results would be an understatement. A few months after I went back to lifting weights again my wife told me "You look pumped up. (Something that I never heard from her when I was using the X3) I'm glad that you're lifting weights again. When you were using that band thing you lost size and didn't look as good." What she told me only confirmed what I already knew and had seen for myself. Not only that but when I went back to lifting weights I was appalled at how much strength that I had lost across the board. I also found that the X3 did nothing in terms of applicable real world strength in day to day activities like carrying bags of salt, moving boxes, etc. If people enjoy using resistance bands in general or the X3 in particular and are satisfied with their results that's fine. To be sustainable a workout has to be something that you enjoy doing (or at least don't hate doing), but don't be a sucker by buying into this snake oil salesman/con artists grandiose claims of building mass or attaining 3x superior results with his magic overpriced system.

I would be so interested in how that would have turned out if you used the Synapse CCR for that amount of time instead. This tool uses a 4:1 pulley so you work unilaterally. When you train with it your muscles are under concentric, isometric and an eccentric load that can be overloaded safely. It seems no matter how strong you get, the 4:1 leverage pulls your body / arms / legs right down with he force!

No question you’re working the same movement pattern and you could certainly build up strength to carry over to free weights to a certain degree. I just wouldn’t say they’re totally equal. with that logic if I’m deadlifting the X3 orange band, I should be able to deadlifting over 500 pounds and there’s no way that was gonna happen at least with me.

@@hybridresistance did you measure the resistance of the orange band when deadlifting to make sure that it was over 500 pounds it could be that you thought you were lifting 500 pounds but you actually weren't since they do have studies that show that people that train with resistant bands vs weights in the study there was no significant differences so it was essentially the same.There is a reason why people talk about hypertrophy with resistant bands vs weights and not with strength in general,since training for max strength vs hypertrophy isn't really the same. Like I saw one of your videos about how you say that for some exercises when you were lifting with resistant band it made you weaker compared to when you were doing weights but one you yourself even said that you don't go heavy when using bands for legs so of course you aren't going to get stronger since you aren't training for strength or trying to lift heavier when using bands. So you weren't really making a fair point and two some of your exercises or the way how you use set up the exercises aren't the most optimal since you don't prestretch the band so that you would feel resistance at the start. Look at the X3 chest excerise that you do it doesn't have much resistance at the start because there is less prestretch in the band and it's just not the best resistant band chest excerise in general . There is a reason they have different lengths of looped resistant bands since everyone has a different height and some times the smaller inch resistant bands are better than the standard 41 inch for certain exercises. Look at deadlifts for example if you are using the standard 41 inch band with an X3 footplate you aren't going to have much resistance at the bottom or maybe you wouldn't even have any resistance at the start of the deadlift at all since there is no prestretch in the band. So it's just not that good. I get that you use resistant band as a supplement so you don't really try to find tune the workout as best as possible which is fine it's just one of many tools you can use but because of that some of your weights vs resistant band comparison just isn't fair.

Ok i have read sll the comments on here and some i have to admit are hilarious.I am one of john Jaquish guys who helped him endorse his product when it first came out.I was on his wall as one of his professional athletes that uses X,3 although i cringed at his claims that it is superior to weights as i built my body from weight training before i even tried his product.i went along with putting out the good word about X3 until i noticed the man was being a complete douche to people who bought his product because maybe they didn't agree with something he claims.I also noticed some of his claims of different subjects he swore by then posting different doctors and when i investigated it,it was incorrect.He Photoshop his pics also which is a kick I asked for my endorsement to be taken down,but he never did.To wrap this up.Bands are a great training method but weight training is the king of beers and always will be that has any common sense when it comes to muscle hypertrophy.I have been training since i was a teen,i worked out under 3 different NFL Trainers,ive personally worked out with the late Mike Mentzer,Rich Gaspari,Aaron Baker .Kids eat your Wheaties,do your push ups,and don't get dupped by snake oil salesman.

REALLY appreciate you laying out it there and going into detail on your experience. I obviously have no idea what goes on behind the scenes with John other than what he tells me. I try to respectfully push back (as in the this video) and John usually seems to not care if I say negative things, but just doubles down. Which none the less I find entertaining. Things such as "the Miami Heat trains with X3" or in this video "Matt Wenning is all about bands", when I ask about it, he'll confidently just confirm.

I think 40 and above, bands are the way to go. Especially if you've lifted heavy in the past and like to lift heavy. I can push with bands in ways that I can't do anymore with weights... Or at least I wouldn't dare to try. I'm bands only off weights until spring and then I'll see how effective it is. Last time, I didn't lose strength and I expect the same this time.

Pretty much just about everybody and anybody who knows anything about training and what is a realistic amount of lean muscle that can be built naturally by the majority of the population. For those ranging from slightly below average genetics to slightly above average genetics, the general consensus is 20-40 pounds of total lean muscle mass would be a realistic lifetime goal to expect. That said, there will also be a small percentage of “genetic outliers” who will fall on the more extreme ends of the spectrum.This includes those with particularly poor muscle building genetics who may only be able to gain 10 pounds of muscle or less regardless of how perfect their program is, as well as those with exceptionally good muscle building genetics who may be able to gain 50 pounds or more even on a sub-optimal plan. And yet Jaquish expects us to believe that he gained 60lbs. of muscle while losing 16lbs. of fat using the X3 exclusively while in his 40’s and without drugs which is something that no one else has been able to replicate in the five years that the X3 has been available. If the X3 worked as well as Jaquish claims then guys putting on 50lbs of lean muscle would be so commonplace by now as to be mundane yet we clearly aren't seeing this and never will.

Perhaps this is because of what he mentions later in that the lengthened position is where we fatigue. Seriously nobody ever gained 50 lbs in a year. Read about the Colorado experiment with Arthur Jones and Casey viator. It was back in the seventies and Jones did this experiment to promote his Nautilus machines. He claimed Casey gained like 60 lb in a month. I advise you to closely listen and monitor all the straight up BS he spews. If he doesn’t go unchecked he will say whatever he can get away with. On top of that, claiming it was done using only bands is completely fraudulent. It’s unreal how popular and looked up to he is with his X3 user group cult, and that is exactly what it is. Primarily, this guy is on performance enhancing drugs and did not put on 55 pounds of muscle mass merely by "training" with his bands and band system! The amount of muscle mass this guy displays, plus the shape of his face, appears to confirm that he is using gear and training with weights. No one can build a high level of hypertrophy with bands, comparable with free weights and weight machines. End of story. This guy is a salesman, on the same level of the guy who claims Balance of Nature supplements has the same benefits as fruits and vegetables, or that Prevagen dramatically increases and improves your cognitive functioning, all of which are untrue.

@@BullyofTrolls How about Jaquish proving his claim of gaining 60lbs. of muscle while losing 16lbs. of fat using the X3 exclusively in my 40’s and without drugs. Since he says that he currently weighs 220lbs. that would mean that he would have had to weigh 176lbs. when he started using the X3. All you have to do is to look at his before and after photos to see that this clearly isn't true. If he legitimately gained 50lbs.+ of muscle using the X3 then why, in the five years that it's been for sale, has no one else been able to replicate this? If the X3 was legitimately 3x superior to weight training as claimed then guys putting on 30-60lbs. of solid lean mass would be so commonplace as to mundane by now.

Finally picked up the X3 due to the sale, and following the program. Had the same sort of concerns you ask about here, but did appreciate the sentiments he had of "Hate me as much as you want, but try variable resistance" 😂 Gotta respect that.

@@hybridresistance Responding while I had the chance to think about it. First thoughts is that the equipment alone is top notch, both the bands and board/bar. Some of the best bands I've used, and I've tried several. The bar has perfect loops, extremely solid, and the construction of a solid inner bar and rotating outer bar takes some getting used to - you HAVE to focus on wrist position, or it'll rotate right out of your grip. Heaviness of the all metal board also makes a difference I feel, particularly on calf raises. The workouts being extremely short (if following the original program) is a big change. It's made me realize two things: one, I know understand a lot more about what failure means, and two, I've been working out also as a form of stress relief, and short multi joint workouts... Not sure if I get that specific benefit out of them as much? Not sure - it takes the 'gadgety' nature out of working out for sure - no messing around, no reconfiguring, no attachments, no plates. Just swapping bands. Bands also take a lot of practice - and I've got a fair bit of experience, but I still struggle on the chest press. Never feels like I'm doing it right, but maybe my arms/chest/shoulders are out of sync or something. Not sure, and I did not have the same struggle on my longer bars - maybe getting the bands a bit further off my arms helped? Again, not sure. Gonna give it a couple more weeks and see - I like switching stuff around, but the X3 has given me significant take-aways on proper form and reps that I feel I can bring to other exercises I do with bands now. If ANY of this makes sense lol 😅

Get some dumbbells and a pull up bar to go along with the X3. Even that together doesn't take up much space in your place. Band only route should be for someone that is constantly out from home, like a truck driver. It's a great portable system, but it needs some things to go with it and fill the weak points.

I've seen repeated interviews where Jaquish has stated “I gained 60lbs. of muscle while losing 16lbs. of fat using the X3 exclusively while in my 40’s and without drugs” Since he says that he currently weighs 220lbs. that would mean that he would have had to weigh 176lbs. when he started using the X3. Do any of his “before” photos even remotely look like he weighs only 176lbs.? I guess that he (correctly) figures that few people will actually look closely at his self reported claims and do the math or will have any idea what a staggering number a 60 lbs. gain of lean muscle is. This is something that an elite super heavyweight strongman competitor (on steroids) would have to work hard to attain and yet we are expected to believe that a man in his 40's could accomplish this without drugs (or weights). And amazingly enough people do believe it which only proves that PT Barnum was right "There's a sucker born every minute". The X3 has been out for years now. If it legitimately built muscle 3x faster than weight training as claimed then examples of guys who put on 40-60lbs. of solid muscle over that time (as Jaquish claims to have done) would be so commonplace as to be mundane and yet we clearly haven't seen anything like that.

I'm not saying that you can't get some results using it but 3x better than weight training and 50lbs+ in lean mass? No way. I'm still waiting for Jaquish's supporters to coherently justify his ludicrous assertions that he "gained 60lbs. of muscle while losing 16lbs. of fat" which would mean that given his current weight that he would have had to have weighed only 176lbs. when he started which is clearly not the case judging by his "before" photos.

Believe me I really wanted the X3 to live up to the hype. I was all in and even bought the performance bands, the squat belt and the book too. After being out over $800+ who wouldn't want it to live up to Jaquish's lofty claims? What I saw was substandard results compared to weights. The deadlift, row, calf raise and the chest press were "ok" at best. In each case using weighted exercises I experienced far superior results. The triceps extension/triceps pushdown, overhead press, split squat and drag curl straight up sucked. The drag curls actually started to give me tendonitis which is something that I've never experienced from any weighted curl variation. The half reps are a joke. I also saw that there was pretty much zero carryover from the X3 exercises to everyday activities like carry heavy bags, moving boxes, etc. This was glaringly apparent when I went back to lifting weights and found that just setting up for a dumbbell bench press (without even all that much weight) was far more difficult that it had been or should have been. Why should that be? Because I hadn't been handling any real weight for 3+ months! Fortunately I was able to unload my X3 and all of the accessories (including the book) on ebay so I was able to recoup some of the money that had wasted on the product.

i feel like in most exercises partials negatively effect stabilizers (like a smith) and if you're not a stretcher some of that too. i know most of my injuries occurred to stabilizers compensating for a weak muscle: groin/hip for lower back.

I hear you. I think when you're pushing close to failure on free weights, you start playing with fire on some exercises. But I think in those situations (not saying for you), your body will at least give you some warning signs.

Look, anyone that says weights are a waste of time is a snake oil salesman in my book. Bands are terrific yes but you are NOT going to build mass like you would with weights. It's just not gonna happen.

Well time to update "your book" because I been using his X3 since 2021 and I'll occasionally be asked based on my look "how much do I bench" and they're shocked to learn that I tell them I strictly use resistance bands...not to mention I actually increased my bench from strictly doing the X3 routine, not having lifted weights since 2021.

So you claim, yet Westside Barbell Club members also use resistance bands to break world powerlifting records. If you read the late Louie Simmons book, WESTSIDE BARBELL BOOK OF RECORDS, you can read how Louie Simmons was a big advocate of using resistance bands along with other ways to achieve muscular overload. Louie Simmons was a big advocate of using resistance bands to develop strength speed, and according to Louie Simmons, to be very strong, you had to be very fast, and resistance bands is an outstanding way to develop strength speed.

I think you definitely can build muscle with bands but you're not going to build Dorian Yates muscle. I think that's why people dismiss it. I don't see why it's so hard to believe when people can get decent builds with even body weight resistance. Again not Dorian Yates but not all muscle has to be Dorian Yates.

In fact, Dorian said it himself that resistance is resistance, be it barbells, machines, or spice girls. I guess that includes bands as well. The things is, Dorian, as well as pretty much every other pro bodybuilder, used steroids. So an average person can never achieve Dorian's level naturally, either with weights or bands.

I personally wouldn't call him a "con man" even despite not agreeing with stance on variable resistance training. But a big reason I have him is because, I legit use his product, and I have had a lot of people (who are band enthusiasts) ask to have him back on for his new hypertrophy program. I'm not trying to defend John, but he's as real off recording as he is on. Also as I said at the start, there's many in this fitness product business that could be classified as "con men" but you'd never know it because they never put themselves out there.

Care to elaborate my friend? You have to bear in mind (which I tell viewers and John at the start of every interview), the questions I ask are generally meant to reflect the common oppositions and critiques of John (most of which are from heavy band users) as a means of playin devil's advocate. Although some are for sure legitimate. John knows that if I just let him go it turns into a sales pitch and people accuse me of not challenging what he's selling. Appreciate you watching.
