My son is a quarter Polish on his mom's side. So it's been excuse for me to pay a little more attention to Polska when it's in the news or something. For years now I've always found the undiluted, undying distrust/hate of Russia to be rather endearing, adorable even. Ah look, the Cold War was over 30 years ago but Poland still has that grumpiness, that grudge. For a Millennial like me, it was just kinda a charming, silly anachronism. And then this happens and without blinking they flip around and criticize their buddies in Hungary, take millions and millions of Ukrainian refugees into their homes, and ship 'em massive amounts of weapons. Immediately. One of the clearest and most famous videos from the early phase of this war was of a helicopter being shot down by a Polish-made and Polish-supplied MANPADS. Yeah, you should be proud. And as soon as I get the chance I'm going to teach my son all about Poland. Slava Polska, też.

I am Irish and needless to say our history books are full of stories related to persecution, oppression and occupation from one invader or another… technology today on the battlefield will record the events in Ukraine, providing future generations with the true facts of what really happened and why… I have no words to express the amount of admiration and respect I have for the courage of the Ukrainian people and their brave fighting men and woman. It should also be highlighted the astonishing assistance Poland offered to the civilian population on their borders when it mattered the most, without question they opened their doors and welcomed everyone in. The Poles have distinguished their country by accepting refugees and caring for them. No hesitation, complaints or whining. They still remember the atrocities of Germany invading in 1939. Notice how Putin is staying away from Poland. If the Polish military has to get involved in this war, there will be little to salvage of the Russian military in Ukraine. Determined, fearless, trained and well-equipped, no one would ever want to face the Polish military in a shooting war.

Jonasz is Polish for Jonah. They first began with "Poland In" -- an English language channel that was more or less a rehearsal before the "TVP World". But already there Jonasz Rewiński was particularly keen on puns, irony and sarcasm, very much Chris Chappell style. I remember that I once criticized them for poorly imitating Chappell's style, and they scolded me for that quite a bit. They were like, "STFU & show some support, goddamit!" :) But now, it's a whole another level. A truly refreshing experience.

Is it true? Last time I checked a few weeks ago, Russia was in 5th, slightly behind Germany, which put Russia at around a billion dollars in military aid. Uk has been in second with 4 billion. Both sides? Trump went on about how much of a genius Putin was when he invaded. The most popular fox host Carlson openly rooted for Russia and then switched to saying we shouldn't care about Ukraine. Trump actively tried to dismantle NATO and even engaged in blackmail with Ukraine's president when he threatened to block military aid (passed by Obama btw). The courage of Ukraine and action of conservatives politicians should cause the MAGA crowd to take a long hard look in the mirror. Trump is out for good, and his love affair with Putin really has come to light with recent events. Putin being related to things like this war and the Bucha massacre, more signs of war crimes being uncovered daily has the crazy half of the right tight lipped about Putin now. The true malicious intent Putin has toward America and West all along is now no longer just conspiracy theory but fact. All this combined with the epic failure in holding classified documents at his Florida mansion has even some of the more hard-core MAGA crazies scratching their heads thinking "maybe this guy wasn't Mr USA after all". Trump is out and a dark chapter in American history, He attempted to hang on to power just like Putin or Lukashenko, Orban guys he admires. But things don't work that way here, you don't simply hang on to power because you want to or make threats of removing the U.S. from NATO (like any sitting President has the power to achieve such a move). Trump learned that just by having the top job here in the states does not make you all powerful, there are many moving parts to the U.S. governing body and the President is just one gear in a much bigger machine. But it's not all doom and gloom for the GOP, Republicans like Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is a staunch supporter of Ukrainian military aid. Infact he's even pressed the Biden Administration to supply ATACMS Ammunition for the HIMARs to give Ukraine 300km range with the weapon. The man even traveled to Kyiv and met with Zelenskyy and top Ukrainian Government officials. He is not alone either John Barrasso and John Cornyn are also in strong support of Ukraine and others as well. Like I mentioned before this stir of guf from the right about supporting Ukraine is just Trump goading his faithful few into making waves toward anything the Biden Administration supports, he's a child that cannot accept defeat. The real strength in U.S. support for Ukraine is in the U.S. people, the large majority of Americans believe in supporting Ukraine even after being affected at home. What I said in my original statement about Americans loving a fighter, it is very true and Americans absolutely love a fighter that wins even more. You win the hearts of the American people and you get the keys to the vault my friend, few foreign politicians figure that out. Politicians in the U.S. must vote along with their constituents views of the world if they seek reelection, win the people win the support. Now we do have our propagandists here as well, not near as bad as the Kremlin lol.. but we do have politically driven media (driven not owned). Some media professionals here sell their souls to a party and only report views and not news, but we still have a solid core of media outlets here that stay true to their work unlike Tucker Carlson. He works really hard pushing this scary picture of a "Destroyed America" into people's homes everytime he's on air. He is all doom "oh no Biden is giving your money away he's going to cause WW3". He is popular but not everyone agrees with everything he says, not even his fans. Argument is good, it's a corner stone in American politics.. you have to be prepared to have your view challenged in America, that's what sets us apart from places like Russia. We can have open opinions and challenge the ones we don't support, debate whatever you like.
