INCREDIBLE 747 ENGINE SOUND - 4 Up Close 747-400 Takeoffs at Manchester Airport - CF6-80

During the busy summer season and the increased route demand, Virgin Atlantic increase the number of 747's based at Manchester with up-to 4 flights on certain days with flights to Orlando, New York and Barbados. This offers a great opportunity to see these aircraft depart up close, with the sound of the 4 CF6-80 never ceasing to impress as the aircraft spools up and departs.
For years the 747 has been operating to Manchester with numerous carriers. Unfortunately as these aircraft are being withdrawn from commercial service Virgin Atlantic remains the only operator left at Manchester. However with daily flights there is no shortage of 747's, with up to 4 flights at anyone time.
Virgin Atlantic last month announced their retirement plans and process for the 747 as the aircraft is replaced with the A350-1000. It is therefore great to see these aircraft operating out of Manchester and it will be a great loss when they go.

YES the Mighty Ole BOEING 747 it's from my Era the 60/70,s when everything was Big, Bad and the Best !! I like 4 engines and all the other Airplanes R Dinky Toys except the Airbus A380 but that's NOT from my Era and the 747 is much Nicer !!! Thanks for the video clip I enjoyed this a lot, I just Love the BOEING 747 !!

Hard to believe the first flight of this Big Bird was 52 years ago; I flew on one from DFW to Honolulu in the summer of 1972 and mostly I was stunned by the interior space. You could remove the seats and hold an NBA game in there. Lots of improvements over the years but the design endures. Nice video, by the way.

The last takeoff must have been a positioning flight. It lifted off really quickly... rotated while still in the runway touchdown zone. Awesome airplane since 1969. Nothing comes close.... actually I did love Tristars too.

Lovely film of that graceful jumbo. It just shows Boeing once made brilliant craft. First the Dreamliner battery fiasco which they did fix now Max.
