Thank you, Tom and Evelyn Cox, for this wonderful mini tour of the Cox Arboretum. Jim and Stephany, it was a pleasure to listen as Tom talked about the various trees and shrubs in their landscape. Frosty is an adorable rescue dog, and I'm guessing that he's probably a delightful addition to Tom and Evelyn's household. I planted my first (with more to follow next spring) ginkgo tree 2 years ago. It's a ‘Mariken’ Dwarf Ginkgo Biloba, and I love it, so naturally, I’ll need to plant more ginkgo trees in my landscape especially after seeing the 'Saratoga' Gingko. I purchased mine online from Matt and Tim at Mr. Maple. Thanks for another fascinating video, Jim and Stephanie. Also, I loved the dance at the end of this video! ~Margie💃💐🤗

I also love my Mariken dwarf ginkgo, just moved it last month to a sunnier location, so I have a bit of worry for it until it shows new leaves in the spring (as would any tree parent).

I definitely can relate to Mr. Cox when it comes to conifers. Here in zone 6b we've been adding many of them to our garden for winter interest. I enjoy looking out the window this time of the year and not seeing a 'horror movie' type of landscape where is everything is dead or dormant. Thank you Jim for this awesome video.

Princeton Sentry ginkgo that I had in New Jersey, would be yellow one day and the next day bare with a circle of yellow leaves on the ground. The leaves really did fall in 24 hours and usually over night. Have never seen another tree since that did that, so some of the "what they say" is true!

Wow!! Thanks Mr Cox for allowing Jim to share this beautiful garden with us! It sure is eye opening! With the array of gorgeous conifers Mr Cox has in his arboretum, I’m even more fired up to plant more trees especially evergreens. I hope one day down the line, my yard will be near 10% as beautiful as his yard! It’s absolutely breathtaking mix of colors, sizes, shapes and heights of beautiful trees!! I’ll be looking for Mr Cox’s book as I’m in process of selecting trees to plant in my yard. I don’t have the luxury like Mr Cox’s big yard and am in zone 8b where zone appropriate conifers are much more limited. I’ll have to do some homework to find the right mix of trees to create a colorful 4 season canvas! Mr Cox and Jim, I’m really drawn to spruce trees, especially the blue ones. Would you help me find a few where I can safely plant them? What happen if I plant anything that is zone up to, say, 3-7, in zone 8b? Thanks Jim for another great tour of magnificent gardens!! Thanks again and please keep it coming! 😃👏 🌳 🌲🌲🌳🌲🌲🌳🌲🌲🌳

Hah, Stephanie! What a great video. I knew that about gingkos, so I have the tiniest little gingko in a pot in my yard. I'm nervous to plant it out because I don't want it to die! Great tip about adding lime - my clay soil is surely acidic but I'll measure the ph when I pick a spot just to be sure it's necessary.

A conifer garden tour just fills my heart. This garden tour is one of your best. I too have had a conifer garden for many years here in now zone 6a eastern Washington. I loved to hear that expression when growing conifers of falling on your face means you are moving forward. This is what I have experienced and now I do not feel so bad with all my loses. I have to tell you that I too have experienced in a very different climate and region than you all, that I seem to never fail with Cryptomeria's. It does not matter sun shade bad weather, too much water, frozen long winters, the cryptomeria always comes through. I only wish I could get a hold of more, except that Black dragon, it is a "dog". Thank you for showing that truly you cannot go wrong with all year interest with conifers.

I love hearing about the design process and why people selected which plants and how people discovered what was an unexpected standout in their garden. Keep developing the great content - return visits are always welcome :)
