David Attenborough is one of my heroes. Crazy that he's 98 years old and still advocating for our planet. A whole lifetime of education and service. Big thanks Sir!!
@forestdweller5581

He mainly started advocating because of all the criticism over him neglecting the problems and just showing pretty pictures. Eco-pornographer they called him....and the plans he is now advocating to save nature are totally silly. Great documentary maker and biologist though and he should probably just stick with that.

@@forestdweller5581 i know it sounds disingenuous but surely he's still benefitting the cause, regardless of intention? many with his status wouldn't even donate a penny to charity at a supermarket checkout. giving something a little bit of fame can make it go a long way, and at least people give a second glance to the planet's welfare after watching his documentaries (i'd hope)

@@kickflip2000 Dragging a film crew around the world is pretty destructive....And wether or not people give a second glance at the welfare of the planet is pretty useless....but hey, there' s much worse happening than that anyway. Sir David's big ideas about saving said planet are where he really goes wrong imho.

This wonderful man has tought millions of children, teenagers, adults and old ones a lot about our beautiful planet and its flora and fauna. I am still amazed and greatful to hear this man and become every single time a child. If someone would ask me, a personal trainer and nutrition coach, who his biggest hero and idol is, it is this man. Was my childhood hero and still is today. As only David Attenborough can do so beautifully......🙏🏼 I grew up in the diamond city of Kimberley in South Africa in the 60s & 70s. We had a public library across the road from the Kimberley Club made famous by C. J. Rhodes. They would show nature films there during the school holidays. These were B&W mostly. I remember listening to David Attenborough say that quite possibly we would never know the extent of the incredible creatures living in the Amazon, the Congo, Borneo etc That perhaps we might never penetrate the depths of these vast jungles. And here we are - 50 years later, 8+ billion human destructive virus's destroying everything that we see & touch & can influence through our greed & uncontrolled breeding. 3.6 billion of us in 1970.... 8.1 billion of us in 2024.... What a delightful species we are!

FROM MY BOOK In the summer of 2002, as I stood alone upon the shoreline (of Hidden Lake) coaxing a reluctant trout, there was a flurry and rustle behind me in the brush. I turned to see the commotion and there staring right back were two wolverine kits. If one has never seen a wolverine, one would be pleasantly unafraid of this supposed predator. They exude a certain raccoon curiosity and playfulness. I’ve never felt threatened in the numerous encounters with my wolverine friends at Hidden Lake, and we’ve had many an encounter over the years since. On this occasion, while I fished a brushy shoreline across the outlet, the kits were only checking me out. When I put my fishing pole down to grab my camera, they quickly hid in the underbrush, out of view. I’d wait, and then return to fishing. They would come again. I’d put the pole down; they’d disappear. I’d start fishing; they’d reappear. We played this game for nearly an hour. I could almost hear their laughter as I was fooled over and over again. I eventually tracked them to their den (on another day) and discovered over the years that this den site, away from the shore and tucked into a rock pile beneath Bearhat Mountain, was used most every year. Not every year, but more than not. I miss them when then gone, but so enjoy them when they are present. There are times when only their interaction can fulfill my needs, because it means that nothing else matters. I seek that mindset to clear my thoughts.
