Great Video, When I was at primary school, "cust" school in north canterbury, i went the whole way through primary school with 1 class mate, is name was michael cotterill, he had two sisters one of which married a man with the last name of "aspinall" and she is probably the mother of the guy for the mt aspiring station, I have been up the road many years ago, thanks for sharing it brought back many fond memories and fondness!

Hi Mike, you're crazy mate. Having said that I did a quick plunge in Lake Rotoiti, St Arnaud village, during the August winter school holidays back when I was about 14 ish. Peer pressure, and all that. But now approaching my 78th summer, I figure yeah/nah, probably won't be happening again. You'll look back on these days and think, "yeah these things had to be done." Thanks for sharing mate. Take care. 👍
@leopardsgowild25 күн бұрын
ha ha, kids went for a swim in Rotoiti back in June, I wasn't brave enough even though it was a really nice sunny day. I Imagine it's a bit colder in August though, after a cold winter... It's so nice to have these memories on camera, show the grandkids one day.

Thought if anyone in new Zealand knows the best places to go its your family .

Oh cheers mate, def was a very cold dip in the Matukituki river, look forward to maybe getting up there again in the summer, when warming back up is a lot easier. Summer time is busy everywhere aye, even down here, those 3 weeks at christmas it's hard to fit anywhere, without a booking. I'd recommend Otamure bay if you could get a site, it would be very busy there, atleast with the DOC camps they have capped numbers, and they allocated larger sites.
@iamie15326 күн бұрын
Not sure if you saw it, but when you come back to Albert town there is a 4WD track / walk that you can do that takes you from there to Dublin Bay and then you can loop back around on the road. Do not take your truck down the 4WD track as it is tight and scratchy.
@leopardsgowild26 күн бұрын
Yea I did see the track, I also ran out the bike trail which takes you to the outlet of the lake, such a good area through there... Looking forward to those hot Otago summer days.

Does your wife cook or are you the resident Chef?
@leopardsgowild23 күн бұрын
She does cook, but I like to cook and now so do all our kids... So it's going to become a war on who gets to cook, not normally in issue in most house holds.
