I loved the fact that I didn’t see one flower! Well, there might’ve been few, but there’s barely any annuals in this garden. I love my annuals/flowers! So for me to love this space and have it hold my attention the whole video, says a lot! Stunning!!!

This garden is a work of art. I was hanging on every word of Mr. Sifford’s descriptions and landscape design insights. I also love that he achieves so much color variation without relying on annuals. Wow, wow wow!!!

Mr Sifford's work is exceptional! He has managed to weave an Asian inspired garden into the Carolina metroplex with West coast DNA. Notice how he's able to completely blot out the traffic noise (Steph shows us just how loud at the end) while keeping the design soft, not claustrophobic. Jay's work immediately made me think of James Van Sweden. Really superior design❤

NO LANDSCAPE FABRIC!!! Thank you so much for talking about that. I don’t know why ppl are so unbelievably obsessed with fabric. I’ve never once used it in my life. As long as you put down at least 2 different sizes of rock/gravel/stone, preferably 3 different sizes, it WILL NOT move around and weeds will not be a problem. This design is genuinely impressive. Its VERY eye catching and has many, flashy, and picturesque “frames” everywhere, yet it shows so much restraint and is never overwhelming. As someone who has been doing landscaping and landscape design for a long time… I can tell you that finding the balance between a “filled in” design and overwhelming chaos is extremely hard to pull off and very rarely witnessed. This place should be in an educational textbook somewhere and should be the standard. I’m bout to watch it again.

Gorgeous! Entirely integrated repeating forms, shapes and colors. I love the water sounds throughout the backyard. Sifford is very talented. His comment about the importance of downspouts reminded me of when they were first called to my attention: a visiting faculty member who had a strong interest in architecture pointed out to me the copper downspouts on a guest residence at Stanford University. I was in my twenties. I'll never forget that moment.
