YOU WOULD LOVE IT!!! We're going to have to do an Airbnb online experience with Julia when we get home so that you can meet her and see some of her tricks. She's a wizard when it comes to Tzatziki Sauce!!

We went on Julia's Athens Food Tour in June 2022. My wife, Adriana, said this was the highlight of our 2 week Greek vacation. Julia was a wonderful hostess and guide. Do not miss this if you will have some free time in Athens! Julia and her husband George are so friendly. We really enjoyed ourselves.

Oooo I just came back from my first time in Greece and loved it! I will definitely be going back and when I do I’m going to book this tour. Looks amazing. Greek food is so delicious. I also tried anchovies for the first time when I was there and was shocked by how much I loved them! They always looked so gross to me but they were actually delicious!

Olives come to many sizes and many different tastes like sweet and bitter. Did you know that actually you can make a sweet out of olives? But I object strongly in the way miss Julia makes tzatziki. We don't dry at all the cucumber we add to the mix of the ingredients and we also add in it a big spoon of vinegar thus making a fresh but digestive for all that meat you accompany it.
@ProbablyLost Жыл бұрын
We tried LOTS of different olives on our tour and Julia told us all about the flavor profile of each olive we tried. Her tzatziki was also incredibly delicious. She was very generous to share her family recipe with us, but we didn't want to spoil her entire Airbnb Experience so the entire tour/recipes are not shown. You'll have to book and see for yourself! Thanks for watching!

@@ProbablyLost i don't doubt she makes a truly good one maybe excellent for some. But in my opinion it's like the commercial edition made for pitas of gyro or souvlaki skewers that it doesn't come out of the bottom of the pita. It's a lot more firm in texture but the one I prefer is more of mouthwatering especially on these hot days of summers where you need to receive as many fluids as possible. Miss Julia can serve it both with fork or spoon or even use a knife to apply it on bread or pita but what I am suggesting is only strictly served with spoon otherwise it ends up everywhere😂😂😂 literally. Also its more digestive this way.

When in Greece, we aways love to have grilled squid or octopus. Also chicken shish kebab with greek salad. We can go forever on those. :)

As a greek, we are food spoiled af. I did not realise how shit the quality of produce is on other "Western" countries and their accessible food until i moved for my master's in another country and 90% of what i was trying was just bad quality.

The Culinary Letdown: A Californian Quest for Gourmet in Greece: When our food-obsessed group, proudly wearing our Californian foodie badges, decided to embark on a culinary journey to Athens, our spirits were as high as the ancient Acropolis. The land that gifted the world democracy surely had a plethora of flavors awaiting us. Instead, we were met with a flavor plateau that left us yearning for more. The perpetual offering of souvlakis with unapologetically stale bread became a predictable fixture of our Athenian dining experience. The red and green bell peppers dolmas, while vibrant on the plate, echoed a monotonous tone on our palates. We couldn't help but wonder: Where was the fresh baked bread warm from the hearth? Or the comforting embrace of a hot soup or the gentle warmth of a well-brewed tea? Aspects that should have been staples in such a storied land. Ironically, back in the Golden State, our local Whole Foods flaunts an olive bar that is reminiscent of a mini Mediterranean festival. Yet, in Athens, supermarkets seemed to treat olives with casual indifference, limiting their variety and essence. Having explored more than 80 establishments across mainland Greece and its islands, our enthusiasm began to wane. We found ourselves booking a hasty weekend retreat to the gastronomic haven of Antalya, Turkey. And what a relief that was! Turkey, with its rich culinary canvas, proved to be a stark contrast. The food was not just food - it was art, it was a story, it was, dare we say, seductive
