Being somewhat of a guitar player myself, I must say but one thing: everybody comparing Andy to other players, needs to wake up and realize how clean his playing actually is. No sloppiness, hands perfectly syncronized, long alternate pick runs, excellent note choice and modern approach to the guitar. He's one of the iconic players of this decade for sure. (I know, maybe Petrucci is even cleaner, Gilbert more creative and Batio faster, but you get my point).

I would put it this way, you can learn to be more creativy simple by listening to lots of different music and studying it, but to some people that "out of the box" thinking comes more natural, and they have a way of writing that reflects their personality, which can't be replicated by others

@SchecterMongoose
@SchecterMongoose 10 жыл бұрын
EMG's needs to have the 9V changed about every 2000 hours. Some change it more often. 2 best ways to tell in my experience are to either A) Use a battery tester about every 6 months or so (depending if you gig or just practice), or B) Listen to your sound. They will start to lose tone and gain with a dying battery. I usually replace all mine once a year when I do my setup in the spring after the weather gets warm again.

He is one of the most clean players out there, and his melodic sense is awesome. He is capable of ripping like alot of the big names but he has the taste of guys like Alex Skolnick. I never worry about Andy overplaying a track. I cant say the same for alot the other guys out there. I think Andy is able to confer emotion into his work where alot of other guys are pure technique.

Every song of this guy sounds exactly the same. He has no musical dinamic. Is like a computer trying to sound human.

Kameron WilliamsI do not to like to sound like an asshole, this guy has an ability that is beyond incredible. I was just putting my point of view that It is impossible for me to listen more than 2 songs of the guy. He has an incredible technic,despite his little finger being short and kind of crooked.

Tyler J Well, I am a classical musician so I do know what I'm talking about. This guy is horible as far as music is concerned. And my oppinion is my oppinion and it is not opoen to dicussion. There are many other guitar freaks that are better than him, becuase they have the technic and the ability to do music.

Regardless of what others say, Andy has something uniquely dark and mysterious about his music and playing. I see his uniqueness shine through a lot. Guitarists have been stealing from other guitarists forever. You do it too, it's almost impossible to be completely original with guitar instrumentals and still be relevant to most listeners ears. So unless you really want to listen to a bunch of Steve Mackey guitar music, I'd stick to the stuff like this.

Can someone please tell me where I can buy Andy James tabs at? I've looked everywhere including his site, but no tabs. Ultimate guitar tab had them, but said they were "unavailable due to legal reasons". I assume that means i need to buy it, but there's no option for that! Frustrating.

I don't know why, but I find his playing boring to listen to. It's like he's trying harder to show off than make it sound tasteful. But that's just my opinion. Incredible guitar player none the less.

Don't listen to Constatine, he doesn't know what he's talking about. The song is in D tuning, or 1 whole step down. I can't tell you if it's Drop D or not but at 0:29 he appears to play a power chord using his pinky (he doesn't use it much i know) and index finger, so that's my assumption. Play your guitar, the songs base note is too deep to be an E5 power chord.
