Speaking as a professional symphonic player in the US.... I challenge ANY!!!! professional orchestra to play this with the precision and passion of this high school orchestra!! Wow! wow! I cried and laughed and danced along:) I've loved Dudamel since these beginning days and hearing these young folks play gives me so much hope in the human race... we can all achieve to be this amazing in whatever field we choose. Bring love and passion to everything you do!

One of my orchestra teachers once showed me the documentary about this group. They come from a program called "El Sistema". These musicians all come from underprivileged background and were practicing with essentially plastic due to low budget. It is so amazing to see the passion and drive for music can bring these kids together and reach for their dreams. Music really is a universal language.

No matter how many times I hear Maestro Dudamel and this magnificent orchestra of young people from Venezuela it’s never enough! They put many other professional orchestras to shame with their precision, intonation and ability to follow their conductor. But in the USA time and financial budgets are being cut for public schools and students are turned out to the world without an experience with the arts and especially music. Kudos to Teacher Abreu, these talented children, their parents and all those who poured their support, blood, sweat and tears into making their Venezuelan “System” so successful.

Ha aumentado los becados de 250,000 antes de Chavez hasta 800,000 con Maduro. dudamel is such a genius conductor and brings the genius out in these kids. nobody can make an orchestra sound like dudamel. a thousand hours of technical accuracy and practice cannot make you understand how to put your soul in your music. life teaches you that. it is just as important if not more important than technique, music theory, muscle memory, scale practice, and so on. in a single word: emotion. the same pieces from many other conductors do not illuminate the heart in the same way; rather, they have a certain flat quality to them. these performances always remind me what being a musician means. to master your craft is to listen with every atom in your being. to become the music. you don’t learn this without blood sweat and tears.... which only end up making you better in the end. as a musician, music drips from your pores, vibrates in your words, subtly emanates from your every action in the world--especially your silence. so much of music is about silence. organized silence. to listen to the wrong song at the wrong time doesn’t work. even if you love the song. silence is so important.you also learn early on that few people notice for a long time. but those who get your style really get it. you are able to give them something. you just do it because you have no other choice. it is who you are.

I teared up a little. This is the BEST I've ever seen. Especially when the girl around 11 minutes has her solo. It's beautiful.

Gustavo should record Shostakovich's Symphony No.10 with the amazing "Teresa Carreno Youth Orchestra" so that fans like me could rush to the store to buy copies. This is by far the best rendition of this magnificent movement I have ever heard including Mravinsky's monumental interpretation. God bless you Gustavo and God bless the musicians in the "Teresa Carreno Youth Orchestra" of Venezuela. Bravo!
