Incredible Hoher Kasten to Saxer Lücke Ridge Hike

It's been a while since I published anything and to be honest, it might be an equally long while before I do so again.
But who knows - I didn't plan this one either, it just happened. The stars aligned I guess.
And I'm glad they did. The hike from Hoher Kasten to Saxer Lücke is one I wanted to do for a long time.
Now that I finally did, I'm happy to have filmed it. It is absolutely fabulous.
The views are stunning throughout and although it's not easy, I loved it.

Thanks, happy to hear that! Yes, it's been a long while and I felt the urge to flex my video-making muscle for a change. Hoping to do more in the future - it's actually fun and I like it, but KZbin is still not a priority at the moment, so we'll see how it goes.

Thanks for this great video, but is it legal to fly a drone there? As far as I know nearly the whole Appenzell region, from Hoher Kasten to Mt Santis is in the natural protected region that even drones below 249g cannot fly, is that true?

The ridge where the hike is, is right at the border of the canton. So the way I interpret this, there are no restrictions on the southern-side slope of it. But if you want to be 100% sure, I suggest contacting the authorities.

Do you know if it’s legal to wild camp there? I’m planning to go but there are some reviews saying its illegal?

I haven’t personally camped there but from what I know it’s legal. There were definitely plenty of tents there, as you can see in the video

it is legal.. but for your on peace.. just make sure you r a bit away from the path.. 😁 not everybody knows it s legal, neither do they appreciate it (if u stay longer).. but there r plenty of great "hidden" spots where u can enjoy your camping.. if u have the chance to go there in the middle of the week.. or outside of the official holiday time.. choose that... have fun (in general.. just don t ask ;)) copied u something principle In principle, wild camping is not prohibited in Switzerland - in contrast to many other countries. Rather, the Swiss right of public access allows anyone to camp for a night or two on uncultivated land. restrictions However, there are numerous limitations to this principle. 1. A general camping ban applies in Switzerland to the following scenic areas: Federal no-hunting areas / wildlife sanctuaries nature reserves in the Swiss National Park in biotopes (fen, raised bog biotopes of national importance) in military restricted zones

It it is prohibited to camp there! Dont come here with tents. Just come for a nice hike and then sleep in one of the nice hotels oder alp houses that are available.

@@PAN_Outdoor wrong! its not legal. Its prohibited! Please do not encourage others to camp there too. It is forbidden and nature suffers as a result. There is rubbish from campers everywhere and there are plenty of other places where you can camp, just not here! Leave the tent at home or in the car and just enjoy the view on a great hike! Thank you And dont spread false informations if your not sure about what u talk.. =)
