Just to be pedantic, the mountain block you keep pointing to and calling Saxer Lücke is actually the Kreuzberge block. Saxer Lücke is the gap between where you camped and that limestone block.
@jochemschut20009 ай бұрын
Ah I didn't know this! Super nice to know, thanks for sharing :)
@CyclistRick9 ай бұрын
@@jochemschut2000 Well I have one, and possibly, two advantages. 1) I live near Alpstein, I could be hiking there in about an hour, so I am quite familiar with the area, and 2) I am fairly good at German (Lücke is a gap, and its origins are related to Loch which means hole, and Saxer means it belongs to Sax, and Sax is a town in the Rhine valley just below the gap, so Sax's Gap is a literal translation).

Hi!!! Amazing! Where did you exactly camp ?
@jochemschut20009 ай бұрын
I camped on one of the hills on the Rhine valley side of the trail. So if you hike up from Bollenwees and you follow the trail, you will find two relatively flat spots to the right of the trail which are super to pitch a tent :)

What season would you recommend to go camping at saxer Lücke?
@jochemschut20009 ай бұрын
Depends on your tolerance for lower temperatures 😉 I went in the spring which was still quite cold, and think the same holds for autumn. However, the benefit of this is that the area is not crowded yet 😊 Would still say summer is the best, though, but as the spot is quite popular it is important to be there a bit early I think.

Questiion: Why is the view of the Kreuzberg peaks and the Mutschensattel reversed in time stamp19:44? As opposed to the actual view from your spot in the very next scene?

Is it the stick? Again from Staubern to Hoher Kasten the Rheintal should be on your right not left.

I think it’s the difference between the front camera (mirror view) and the back camera of the iPhone 😊 Sharp remark 👀

Great video! We’re planning to get there in mid June. But we recently saw that this area might be illegal to wild camp. Do you know if this is true?
@jochemschut2000 Жыл бұрын
Thanks! As far as I know camping there is not illegal, as long as you set up camp above the treeline 😊 Enjoy!

@@jochemschut2000 How do you check if it's illegal? I just went to Meglisalp with all of my gear only to be told camping there is illegal even though I had also heard camping above the treeline is perfectly legal. I'm trying to figure out how to check beforehand in the future. Also are there any farms up on Saxer Lucke? Thanks! LG aus Konstanz.
@jochemschut200011 ай бұрын
@@miabashich Sorry to hear you couldn’t stay at Meglisalp! In general wild camping above treeline is allowed in Switzerland, but there are exceptions in certain areas (like natural parks - see the link below) or on private land (maybe this was the case on Meglisalp). I always check the map in the link below, and try to see whether I can find some info using Google about whether it is allowed. If you’re not sure whether it’s private land, I would just ask someone who lives there whether you can camp there 😊 About farms on the route to Saxer Lücke - there’s the Furgglenalp which is on the way to the Saxer Lücke, but in the “valley”. I don’t think this should be a problem as you normally set up camp way further. Let me know if you have any other questions! @@miabashich in general we got the Jedermannsrecht (right of public access) in Switzerland (as the scandinavian countries have)... so, there is no problem to wild camp. but as always.. not everybody likes it or appreciates it.. so, if u don t see any signs which tell u U CAN T... enjoy your camping :) just don t ask first (people like to say it s not allowed, even they don t know) and stay away from the path. i always try to be hidden es good as possible.. for my own peace.. specially if u stay a few days.. i copied u this principle In principle, wild camping is not prohibited in Switzerland - in contrast to many other countries. Rather, the Swiss right of public access allows anyone to camp for a night or two on uncultivated land. restrictions However, there are numerous limitations to this principle. 1. A general camping ban applies in Switzerland to the following scenic areas: Federal no-hunting areas / wildlife sanctuaries nature reserves in the Swiss National Park in biotopes (fen, raised bog biotopes of national importance) in military restricted zones
