Hulk doesn't gain friendship levels because you get him at the very end of the game, just before the final mission. Also, it's the Hulk. Hulk no make friends.

Love these guides, watched the whole series. But I was gobsmacked to see the title for this one! I find the hulk so overpowered, Ive cleared out missions on turn one with 3 cards! After using him in newgame+ it became pretty obvious why you dont get him until the very end of the game

They really should have given him a draw two-three hulk cards card, at moment it feels like he needs double support to function.

Best mods for hulk are the ones which gives on KO gain resist or on redraw so he can keep taunting freely adding quick on hulk is totally a waste since having hulk cards in your hand already will make it hard to draw cards so youll find yourself with empty hand so easily

I sub out Thunderclap for a filler card with “Redraw to gain conceal”, otherwise I run an identical build. I’ve found the cost of Thunderclap means i almost never spend it relative to other heroics I draw and rarely have enemies lined up that it’s useful to stun more than one enemy, in which i might as well use Smash. Sometimes Challenging Roar + conceal can help stall if I just can’t fish for a Worldbreaker in the first turn

Good point. The thing with this game is that there are a lot of "trap cards". Cards that play off each other that make you go ohhhhh! But in practice, don't work out well. Hulk is plagued with several of these. Thunderclap is a card I get good use out of because it stuns multiple enemies. Which is what I use hulk for, crowd control.

I built my Hulk to kind of be the "in case of emergency, SMASH" option. I pair him with my Carol and Hunter, or my Blade and Hunter. He is a good crowd control hero that can buy you time, and slow down threats, until you have the heroism or combos in place to one shot something. For this reason, I spec my hunter to produce heroism, heal, and lower the cost of cards. This way I can more quickly unlock his higher damage dealing cards, or his combo cards and take out the biggest threats on the map. Vulnerable, bleed, marked, and weak really give his cards versatility. Bleed especially, when playing with Blade, almost makes it unfair. His health pool is actually high enough that he can do *some* tanking. Buying time for my Carol to enter binary. This is where his taunt and weak mods really shine. As long as I monitor his health and cure him, he will survive long enough to destroy what my Carol or Blade didn't obliterate.

@@LynxStarAuto haha actually I now have! I spent all day yesterday getting him to champion level 25. I did end up ranking him as the worst hero in the game, however the build I came up with him is pretty fun overall!

I use diferent biuld and i am wining on the second round consistently . just build rage and killing everything Keith aoe . you forgot to mention that the hability always angry heal and give more Heath every time meaning toi start 600 Heath then hoy get more and more so you get tanky also counter is very ussefull.

In my opinion, Quick is not a valuable mod on Smash. The point of the card is not to kill minions but to Stun dangerous ennemis that you wont be able to kill. Therefore, mods like "2 Vulnerable", or "2 Marked" are actually better. Because the ennemis wont be able to act, but ton the follow up turn they will still be Marked or Vulnerable.

Also, while you can't mod chain attacks to be Quick, you can mod them to apply 1 marked. Your card will be refunded as long as you use at least 2 chain attacks on the same ennemi to kill him. (The first attack will apply Mark, and then the killing attack will be refunded).

This is pretty interesting thought process actually. Maybe Hulk can be built to not clear levels immediately, like most other heroes are helping to accomplish, but rather set up for that big turn where Worldbreaker will just decimate everything

​@@jrotvtube Exactlty, that is how i use him. I let other heroes deal with the minions, and Hulk will clear the room on turn 2 or 3. Also, i modded his Challenging Roar to +2 Heroism insted of free. I will actually taunt multiples ennemis with the focus beam item first, and then use Challenging Roar to gain 4 Heroism and to be at max Rage. Then i'm only 2 Heroism away for Worldbreaker.

@@jrotvtubethat's exactly how you play Hulk. Crowd control, and slow down the enemy enough to annihilate the opposition. As the TC said, marked, vulnerable, and also weak are Hulk's best mods. He is probably the only character out the gate that can tank (a little) right away.

the problem i see is you're not using dark hunter, pair with merciless, it deals like 450 extra damage to stunned or binded enemies on top of the 115 damage it already does(plus strengthened if you got one on), if you pop the obsidian collar which doubles damage on a non heroic hunter card FOR FREE upon using three dark cards 650 damage even more with a crit that outdoes WILD STRIKE in terms of pure non heroic damage and if you put quick on merciless it only costs one card play if you aim it at the right enemy, that's not even counting the 230 damage smash does to an enemy at full health. dark hunter synergizes well with hulk because of that card and how hard stun or bind is to normally inflict and hulk causes stuns like crazy

I ended up with a very similar deck. Exactly the same but instead of Quick Mighty Blow it's 2 copies of Quick Crush. He loses a little bit of power in comparison to your one, but it's more self-sustainable I reckon, as it doesn't need support heroes or combat items to get going. Fun that we ended up on basically the same build though lol. One thing about something you say in this video though: You said that the bonus damage on Smash never comes into play, but I've found that when you're at full Rage, it means he's one shotting the medium sized enemies (which usually have about 600 health). So the bonus damage on Smash actually elevates it from "Quick on Minions to build Rage" to "Quick on Minions to build Rage and once Rage is built a nice medium enemy Quick attack too". Definitely the last hero I ended up getting used to playing (never been much of a Hulk fan truth be told), but I'm actually really enjoying him now I've been able to Min/Max build best in slot Mods thanks to your guide video on the topic. Thanks for all the fun videos! ~ Oh, bonus thought about Hulk, while it's true the Quick Crush build doesn't need support, it's sadly the case that he can't get Strengthened on his own with it either, so it doesn't solve that issue. I tried running Thunderclap with marked and one of the Crushes with Strength on KO for a bit, but you really want your follow up to stunned target attacks to be Quick (like your Mighty Blows), and Vulnerable on Thunderclap is just so much better and more fun. Luckily my Hunter runs Strength 2 on Heal, so that's nice, but still a bummer in that regard.

They really ruined the incredible hulk. Captain American being able to out tank the hulk is just silly. Yes, I know it's a game mechanic but man they really did him dirty. When you're talking about power and durability, the hulk is at the very top. The hulk should be the tank and the killing machine. They really f-up his lore and character. The hulk also has incredible healing factor that makes him equal if not better than wolverine.

Like you I have several bugs show up in the game. I’ve been in contact with 2K for a while now. It all started after I downloaded my season pass and new DLC. I do like playing as the Hulk just to smash everything but it’s costly. Thank you for the informative video.

As evidenced by avatar, Hulk is my favorite Marvel character. He can definitely crush, but I was disappointed in him at first and still hope they make improvements and add friendship to him in the DLCs. Thanks for the series. 🤣

To me the best way to Hulk is Rampage taunt into Challenging Roar into Worldbreaker. Shortest route to Payoff Town. Just need good card cycle and heroism generation from team mates. 1x Always Angry (+1 fast on redraw), 2x Rampage (+1 chain), 2x Challenging Roar (Free), 1x Worldbreaker (+50% damage). None of the attacks are useful, you don't need them to rage up and your allies will convert minions to heroism and cards for free way more efficiently. The other heroics are all detours on your way to Payoff Town too. If your Hulk is teamed with someone who generates redraws I think the best 2 cards to finish off his deck is whatever attack you feel has the prettiest art with +1 heroism on redraw mod and never play them, just like Always Angry.

For such a top billed character and late addition to the roster, you'd think he should be excellent at what he does even *before* optimizing the hell out of him with mods to make him busted. (and also be more than just his Ult really)

Different kinda game, but a great example of what playing as Hulk should feel like. I get it's hard to design a game with a character clearly meant to be OP, but his cards are just a little underwhelming.

Hard disagree on Always Angry. If you get it off early in the game, before Hulk is even damaged, it's a straight pump to his max health. You do NOT need to burn 5 rage on it (but if you can, you become a monster tank), and for the remainder of the game your rage can get to 6. I've considered putting two of these in, but I think trying to actually play both would be (as you say) too much work. So just relax and enjoy the bonus max-HP and 6-max rage.

I'm with you. This video missed out on other build options. I have my Hulk absolutely incredible with 2 Always angry cards that both give him another rage. So, in tough battles my hulk can get 7 bars of rages which currently can get him over 4000 health & his abilities for damage are off the charts. The Hulk I have created fits the mold of the comics and the idea that Hulk definitely smashes. I have found that most of the characters can have amazing builds, but you need a bit more of an open mind that the gentleman that made this video. He makes some good points but missing out on other views & other strategies that are possible.

Seems to me that Hulk was primarily made thinking of Lilim as enemies, where you can actively taunt a group of enemies just by doing things like hiting Nest Mother, or by gaining attention of the pack of dogs. Not very good type of setup they've made for him, but he seems more of a support for Hunter with all his stuns than anything else really. And IF you can use a very high damage ability here and there, you use it. So far it has been like that for me with him. Pretty underwhelming unless you play mostly to feed everything to him.
