This Massey Ferguson MF30 MF 34 tractor has been an incredible logging machine. I say incredible because it has been so reliable and trouble free for so long. The front loader has log forks. It has a PTO driven Farmi 501 logging winch in the back.It is part of my small scale logging operation I use for managing my forest land. A lot of the timber it logs gets milled on my Woodmizer LT15 sawmill. I am doing some maintenance and repairs. Changing the engine oil and attempting to repair a leaking fuel tank with JB Weld.

I just acquired the MF 3165 with the loader missing. I'm currently replacing the pto shaft, oil filter adaptor, all filters, and the hydraulic fluid. It was yellow originally being the industrial model but has been repainted red and grey some time ago. I look forward to putting it to use on the farm yarding trees and prepping fields for planting. I'm originally from Lakeview, Oregon, and moved to northern Florida back in 2020. Back in the 90s, I worked in the woods packing saw in Lake and Douglas counties and lived in the Willamette valley off and on for decades. Oh, how different things are down here. I'll let it go at that. Your videos give me a taste of home and trips down memory lane on a wooded path. Thank you.

A big Walmart, or a Jo-Anns fabrics would have some inexpensive vinyl upholstery material for a seat cover. You can just use one piece and wrinkle it over the corners. I used to use kitchen counter -type contact adhesive, to glue around the back side onto the metal. A little gorilla tape will hold together the back while the glue sets up. Use some Bounce dryer sheets to rub on the wires, seat, steering wheel, and tuck it in a non- flammable place; to discourage four legged visitors.
@WilsonForestLands
@WilsonForestLands 5 ай бұрын
Good tips, thanks. Maybe just tuck the dryer sheets up under the vinyl upholstery.

Now that's what I call a torque wrench 🤣 I don't know if they even sell JB here in Spain but I used something similar to fix the exit from the pump of my "wheelbarrow sprayer" (whatever it's called in English). I hardly washed it, certainly not as well as you did, also it was in a harder position to apply the same methods. But hey, I can't remember when it happened, I think it was before the pandemic, and it's still working. Mind you I used it less than 10 days a year,, less than 2000 litres in total, but no leaks at all. Is it pretty? nope, does it work? yep, just like me with my PPE on.
@WilsonForestLands
@WilsonForestLands 5 ай бұрын
I cleaned this one up well but I have had some cases where I didn’t clean things up so much. It still stuck and lasted a long time. They don’t make many torque wrenches like that but this one has served me well.

Wilson I would always get on the tractor before you start it , I know 2 people who where ran over by a tractor that wasn’t suppose to start in gear .fortunately both lived but were badly injured.
@WilsonForestLands
@WilsonForestLands 5 ай бұрын
This one is very finicky about having the gear level in the right position or it won’t start. But what you say is a good point. That switch could fail. Thanks for that suggestion.

@@WilsonForestLands I wouldn't sweat it too much Wilson, it looks like you've only started that tractor in this fashion maybe about 20 000 times!! I think by now you have the stand on the ground and catch the exhaust tin down to a fine art!! Anyway I'm a real fan of this even if jackkoshollek isn't.

My question is why are the forks so short? Have they worn down that far or for maneuverability in the forest?
@WilsonForestLands
@WilsonForestLands 5 ай бұрын
Without a grapple the shorter forks work better for moving logs around in a lot of cases. Longer ones can get in the way and it does help maneuverability.
