Most are going to moan @Mos TV but you do have a solid point. I do agree. Don't get me wrong he has tallent and for a tallent show he should win it hand's down. But all will say a voice for the voice is what it says on the label and i get that also. But a DJ as even Boy George said its two differnt styles and it changes the dynamics of singing for the show. If the winner didnt have the technology his capabilitys would be less then an avg singer. Its THE VOICE and he used his own damn voice to do everything, starting from the soundtrack. I fully understand why he's a controversial contestant, but despite being called The Voice, we all know it's more than that. The Blind Audition is mostly about the voice, yes, but what we also end up judging is the song choice and the style and the stage presence and everything that makes up an artist. Sam was so successful on the show not just for any one aspect of his artistry, but all of it together. He had a "gimmick", yes, but more importantly, he had a style and a perspective that is fairly rare on these competition shows where the artists are very green and they have very little creative control. And, in my eyes, the board he used for looping is no different than allowing contestants to play their own instrument. If it was truly about just the voice, we would never see a contestant until they won.

New? The worldwide known former street musician "Dub FX" is performing like this for more then 10 Years (8 studio albums, 18 releases in total. First release 2007) and his video uploads on youtube of his performances are clicked in the high double-digit million range. And for my taste, he is on a higher skill level doing masterpieces with the loop-pedals. Dub FX is not such a good singer like the voice guy, but listen to his tracks - he creates magic and everything written on his own.

He thought outside the box, used his skills to his advantage, and was original. Sometimes that’s how the cookie crumbles. It was unfair for the other contestants because they solely had to rely on their voice alone. He brought another dimension to the voice. He was in 3d while everyone else was stuck in 8-bit graphics.

Joshua Bedford Yes but as you said he was judged on his looping abilities on a show which is designed to judge singing ability, regardless of how good/bad contestants are on their instruments. If someone went on and was a terrible, or even an okay singer but was extraordinary on their guitar they would not get voted through on this show. He is extremely talented but he should be on a show like Got Talent or X-factor. His performance is far better suited for the design of those shows.

Of course he is looping it but what is the difference to someone who just sings on a given beat? Isn‘t it extraordinary to produce the whole song just with your voice? Honcho39 what does “his voice only” mean to you? He had studio grade effects available to him at his fingertips the entire time. Tons of processing goes into all the contestants voices but it should still be an even footing for everyone. The guy is incredibly talented and he’s going to do very well for himself but I’m just not a fan of his raw vocals. Strip away the equipment and he wouldn’t have gotten very far at all. You don’t see pianists or guitarists go rock a 3 minute long epic solo, hum some vocals overtop and then make it through on a show like this. This was literally no different lol again.... dudes super talented, but he would’ve been better suited for a Got Talent type show. He still won at the end of the day though and he still worked damn hard to get there

Ron Samba except for the fact that it records what he puts into it at that very moment and it doesn’t alter his voice in anyway, it just repeats it. Therefore the only difference would really be breathe control, but even then he has to be very skilled in that because he has to do so much more with his voice.

@@AravindMadhav this isn't just a looping station, if it was "just" a looper, he would have ONE machine and nothing more... forgeting the fact that most looping stations have some effects on their own you can put above the sound/voice just like you can with an guitar amplifier... he got another machine, which is no looper but a Guitar Effects Processor called "Boss GT-8"... which yeah... gives him pretty wide control over his own sound... so yeah... i don't think this is anywhere near fair against those that really just use their own Voice, but he is great at what he does!
