He just released his 4th mini album HELLO WORLD and you should definitely check out PINEAPPLE SLICE, COLD HEART, ALL I GOT, CRY FOR LOVE by Baekhyun. You'll miss out a lot if you don't listen to this. Trust me. The guy in all white is CHEN who's the no 1 vocalist in K-pop. You'd definitely wanna react to him performing in concerts and live. Well, Sehun and Chanyeol can definitely go lower than Chen, they just didn't try so hard. Chen's low is still impressive for a tenor though.

@@toriecarter2711 tbh I don’t get caught up in what note is being hit -high or low. I often hear singers trying to hit high notes and you can hear the strain. With EXO you never know which direction they will go. E.g “papercuts” is one of my favourites ballads as it reminds of my sister. Then you hear “baby don’t cry” & the r&b vocals hit u. Today I heard “Let Me In” where I felt EXO gave us a 3D master vocal performance. I truly believe there is no grp to match EXO vocally worldwide today. But feel free to remind me

EXO is massive. The 3 top male vocalists are in this one grp. As EXO_Ls we don’t stream obsessively to get numbers. But this was just 10% of their hits. Every genre is covered. Military service 2019-2025. So u have fandom waiting for their concerts which hold the record at 0.2sec & 1.41 sec sellout. For us EXO_Ls it’s the music. EXO have never failed to deliver. And even this yr there solo vocalists dominate. 150 brilliant songs exc solos, subunits, osts & covers. B sides allow them to flex those vocals. That coupled with ability to sing in Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, English

Note. BTS comparison is not good. BTS are a rap line with one established singer who doesn’t need auto-tune. That’s junghook. He is viewed as a great performer but not vocalist. When you hear a wider range of EXO songs u will understand. Also when comparing with US A listers. EXO as a grp don’t go down that route. But vocally they can hit those Adele/kelly Clarkson/Sam smith/bruno notes. Only have to hear DO version of perfect to understand why they have kept growing despite minimal promotion.

Whoever decided to bring these guys together and form a band is a genius. You mentioned how well they sync, and I totally agree. One thing about EXO is that, no matter the genre, they absolutely nail it. Their voices blend so perfectly that I get goosebumps every time they release a new song. It’s like they were made for each other. Plus, every member contributes to the vocals, which is awesome. Even if some might not have the strongest vocals, they still make use of everyone’s talent. Take Sehun, for example-mainly known as a dancer and rapper, yet when you break down some of EXO's big hits, you can hear his voice supporting in the background. This isn’t something you see much with newer K-pop groups these days. Some producers only spotlight those they think are the best fit, leaving other members out. It’s frustrating because those members have potential if they’re just given the chance. Without it, they might end up feeling like side characters, getting lazy, and not improving what they can do. But that’s what I love about EXO and most older generation idols. Even after being in the industry for 10 years, they still work on themselves and keep learning. It’s crazy how hard they work, and you can really hear it in their music. They make truly beautiful songs.

I think Chen is trying to not get his voice picked up by the other members' mics so he doesn't project as much or open his mouth as much. When BTOB did their Killing Voice their mics were too close together plus they all have really loud voices so their audios overlapped and there was some post production editing done because of that. I believe Chen is trying to avoid something like that, we all know his voice resonates a lot.

There are so much content to analyse their pur talent...🤣 If we are still here after 12 years, 3 members leaving at the few years of their debuts, all the dramas, the long hiatus due to their military services etc....if it wasn't because of how good they are, there wouldn't be still as much fans as of now...a lot of people are still discovering Exo now and loving their music...their b-sides, be it from their group albums or their solo albums...masterpieces after masterpieces...you'll see as you dig in it, how sophisticated and brillant their music can be...

Thank you so so much for your analysis. It always makes me happy when someone discovers how amazing kpop is. Exo are absolutely amazing and deserve to be known worlwide on par with western artists. First of all because from a vocal point of view they are exceptional and much better than most American, English, Italian, etc. singers (I'm Italian and, trust me, Italian music nowadays is crap). If you want to listen to actual opera singers in the Korean music industry go watch the Phantom Singer performances and check out the groups that were formed from it, like Forestella, La Poem, Crezl and more.

You’re definitely right about K-pop mixing the traditional and electronic instruments and making a unique sound from that blend. It’s something that 2nd and 3rd gen groups did especially. One group that comes to mind is Infinite, who’s just a little older than EXO, super famous for creating this orchestral electronic thing in their music. Destiny, Bad, Back, and The Chaser all come to mind from them as songs that would be good examples. On the girls’ side, The fifth season by Oh My Girl would be a good one to check out. Thanks for a great reaction to the vocal kings. The guy with silver hair is Baekhyun, main vocalist of EXO and critically acclaimed as one of the best vocalist in all k-pop. He is also the best soloist in the industry breaking records left and right since 3 years now. This video shows very little of what he is capable to do vocally. You’ll become addicted to his solo music if you listen to him because all his songs are non-skip. To get you started and for you to have an idea what you’re in for you MUST MUST MUST react to his solo “All I Got”. You’ll have a field day analyzing it. Also, being that you mentioned League of Legends, Baekhyun is part of their group Heartsteel that sings “Paranoia”. It is a great song and you’ll really miss out a lot if you don’t react to it. Have fun with EXO and their solo projects because they are all amazing.

Chen (high tenor in the middle) has the widest range in the group and can actually hit the lowest notes! He does some things when singing that kind of defy logic (such as keeping his mouth closed when most would open it wide as you pointed out) bc hes one of those golden throat people that doesnt really need to follow the “rules” 😅

The group originally had 12 members, 3 of them (China line) fell out because of mishap with the company while Lay (last Chinese member) was stuck because of his political position in China (both countries have a beef with each other so their artist can't continue their profession in other country), meanwhile Kai was in military when Killing Voice came out. Exo is still 9 members groups, just that because of issues they can't be whole.

This reaction and analysis is so enjoyable. I can tell how much you love singing and music and how interesting you find them. Exo is my favorite group and I’ve listened to all these songs hundreds if not thousands 😅 of times since I’ve been their fan for over a decade. Even so, I learned so much and “heard” new things in these songs because of your analysis…. Now what if I tell you many of exo’s b-sides are just as good or better than their tittle tracks! Please do listen to their discography and also their solo work… as of this comment 8 of 9 of them have released solo albums, some as many as 4 solo albums. And every member has solo songs. I clicked so fast when I saw you were reacting to EXO!! While I adore this Killing Voice it is more of a EXO "greatest hits" more than excerpts showcasing their crazy vocals. Believe it or not they can sing much more impressively than this. If you wanted to check out more EXO I recommend Tempo MV, also maybe a live concert performance (like MAMA + Monster + Wolf In Japan or Acoustic Session + Lady Luck) or a compilation like "EXO's Vocals Are No Joke".

I love your in-depth analysis! I really hope you can check out BTOB sometime in the future, they're really talented vocalist and have also done a Killing Voice video. Their type of music is different from EXO, it's not as groovy but they do have a nice variety of styles. BTOB also have nice vocal range and some great harmonies

They can all hit an incredible range of notes, but Chen (centre in white) is the one that hits the highest and lowest consistently and comfortably within songs. Baekhyun (silver hair) also has a huge range and is often given the higher ad libs. Male Kpop traditionally, and especially SM groups, aim for tenors who can hit the high notes. Having singers comfortable in lower ranges is more unusual. This Killing Voice performance allowed Chen and Baekhyun to shine, which is always a good thing, but if you want to see more of the skills of their third Main Vocalist D.O. (next to the tall rapper on the left), you should check out their concert acoustic medley.

This is my first video of yours I've seen and I have to say I really enjoyed hearing you give such detailed analysis of their vocals as well as the music production! As an exo-l of 12 years I've heard these songs probably thousands of times but you pointed out things in the production that my music-novice ears haven't even picked up before and that's really cool!! You will really have fun reacting to exo. The best part of them is that you'll notice how much they improved over the years. They just keep unlocking new levels skill wise. It doesn't matter vocals or dancing. The very kpop groups I see have true passion for music and you can tell that they love their job.

some vocal power song recommendations by the silver haired guy, baekhyun, are : all i got, cry for love, bambi, and pineapple slice (his newest single). I also recommend ATEEZ's and BigMama's killing voices. you'll be blown away. ATEEZ's main vocal and baekhyun were trained by the same vocal coach, and are his top 2 favorite students LOL.

One of the main rappers, Chanyeol and one of the main vocalists, Baekhyun recently released their solo albums. You should check it out. Though Chanyeol is the main rapper is the group, his album is more singing focused. Only one song in the whole album is rap based.

I've noticed Asian male voice boxes from singing to modal is vastly different... the resonance that comes out of a small frame vs big, it seems like the opposite. Chest cavity insane.
