Dany told a story about the filming of the enter Sandman video. She said it was filmed in a burnt out factory outside their hometown. It was kinda scary at first because the place was full of bats. All was good though after a couple hours they had made friends with the bats.

Hey Cheezy! For what I have heard, The Pretender video is indeed raw. It was done in an empty lot near their home in the hills near Monterrey. They played it live 2 or 3 times to get all the camera shots and took the best recording of the 3 takes. Absolutely mind blowing how good they are. About the Enter Sandman cover: Alessia Cara is a Canadian Pop singer/songwriter. She shares the same international management company as The Warning (21 Entertainment). The Blacklist album is a cover album that Metallica did to celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Black album. They invited 53 artists of varying genres to cover their favorite song off the album. 21 Entertainment suggested that Alessia Cara collaborate with The Warning for their cover . This was during Covid, so Producer Matt Squire flew to Monterrey to do this with The Warning and Alessia was in Toronto working with them remotely via Zoom. They stripped the original down to it's base elements and rewrote the song as a pop song, then rockified (Warnified) it. Then The Warning's producer of "Error", David Bendeth did the final mix in New Jersey. They did all this in ONE WEEK, to make the deadline for the album!! I think it is the best cover on the album of all 53 songs. BTW, Alessia finally met all of The Warning in person and joined them on stage to perform this at The Troubadour in LA. Here is the link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z33YfKyZermsetE

It’s the little ’mistakes’ like Dany’s lite finger pressure at the opening not quite getting clear notes that I really love about how they play. THAT is what makes LIVE so AWESOME!!! You nailed it Cheezy! RAW is perfection. As for their re-masterpiece of Enter Sandman… it is the epitome of artistry and realization of a vision. They risked so much in creating their own version of a rock anthem and I can’t get enough of it.

Just over 2 years ago now and not a day has gone by that I have not listened to The Warning. And Enter Sandman (this version) is an incredible film clip, beautifully shot and choreographed and a cracker of a version. Glad you got to it @Cheezyxyz. Maybe try XXI century blood next , as it's a ripper song and almost a feature movie film clip :)

Alessia is awesome!! She is a Grammy-winning Canadian pop singer. When they play this in concert, they have her part on a backing track. Back in May, I saw The Warning two nights in a row at the Troubadour, in West Hollywood, California. The second night, they didn't need her backing track. They brought her out on stage to perform it live with them!! She brought tons of rockin' energy to the performance! In "The Pretender", notice that Pau wasn't wearing a head mic. These three youngsters showed that the three of them can fight foo as well as six grown adults!!

Their live performances have been evolving, you can see this along their Mayday tour, then with the Halestorm tour. They switched the prayer from Pau to Dany and they dropped the ethereal 3way harmony, I think it was just too subtle to pull off live. But they started to make it heavier, and to sound more confident, to the point where they now perform it almost every time. It is definitely a crowd pleaser. I love the by now traditional high-five at the end between Dany and Ale.

For the Metallica Blacklist album with 53 artist doing their own rendition of a song from the Black Album the question was asked to Alessia Cara if she wanted to contribute on the album and she is on the same agency as TW and someone suggested to Alessia Cara a cooperation with TW. The rest is history as they say. From Metallica’s point of view in an interview with Rolling Stone “We said, ‘Pick a song. Do what you want with it. If you want to play it backwards or turn it on its head, we respect and appreciate it.’ ” -Lars Ulrich The Pretender is one of my absolute favorites by Foo Fighters and as well by The Warning

The Pretender was recorded and mixed in house down the hill. During the prayer of ES, Pau said there were insects crawling along the wall, being bug phobic she couldn't wait to get away from there. The room they finished ES in was a green room and since the glass had been broken out the stagnant water smeeled like old wet dog, and was made worse when it was wetted down further for filming.

See the orange amplifier and switcher that Dany turn on at the beginning? These have been with them since their earliest videos (like those at the secondary school) and are still present in every single tour and concert. You can spot them in older videos like XXIth Century Blood, the Ted Talk etc. but also in Error and Money, in every shot at The Cave, in the tour with Halestorm (sometimes the switcher alone) etc. etc. These seem rather old, rather big and cumbersome, but obviously have a deep meaning for the girls. This video is indeed a live recording and the video was shot on top of a house near Chipinque - a protected natural zone at their home city of Monterrey.

The Pretender is my favorite of their covers. I also like the rawness in it, mistakes, blips, warts, and all. I have played hundreds of concerts and gigs, and I know I have never played a perfect performance. Those imperfections, from people who are clearly proficient on their instruments, can add to the flavor and color and enjoyment of live recordings and performances. You know they are playing for real. Exact, perfect, quantized, all sound too sterile to me. I very much appreciate their willingness to be real in this sense and leave them in. The new ESM with Alessia Cara is one of the best reimagines I have ever heard--now as a spooky, creepy lullaby told from the female perspective. Metallica said do what you want, play it backward. They took that to heart and pulled this off in one week. The half-time feel in multiple layers on this track are fantastic (The first minute of the song with Ale doing the main riff half-time on bass--love it). I didn't know how good this song could be until this came out. I like this one sooo much better than the original. Yeah, we knew that break into Dany's wail was going to get you. Works every time. Live? It is great. Others have given you the link to the Troubadour. Here is what I captured in Reading PA in front of ~200 fans. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWKUZpeAq8uIfM0 I smile a lot when I listen to them. One week. One week from the time they got the invitation to participate in recording a song for the Blacklist album to when they had to have it finished. TW in Mexico and Alessia in Canada during the pandemic. In order to make it fit with Alessia's style they first stripped the entire song down and built it back up as a pop song and then put The Warning touch on it. Their producer flew down from New Jersey to Monterrey to record the song. Alessia's parts were basically recorded over a Skype like program, and then everything was mixed in Monterrey. The most dramatic example of this is found in a very brief acoustic version of "Red Hands Never Fade" kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGWTi42VgLOqnZI There are four songs from QOTMS (totaling roughly 12 minutes) that they play in this format if you choose to hold off and react to them in a single or two part video.
