Those fish are aggressive! Nice fish Michael. We were thinking about going fishing at Boone before the water gets warm soon. If we do, you are invited.

Hey Michael, is now a good time to go after the browns in Boone? Are you looking for a certain surface temperature? Was this near Bluff City or at least the South Holston side? Can the dam area be productive? I have an Old Town Autopilot so I want to put in somewhat close to a productive area.

Thanks for reaching out, I typically start fishing for brown trout around January 1. That’s usually when a lot of the shad are pushing up near the damn or even further to Misty Waters or candy creek. Start looking for a giant piles of Shad and you will start finding more and more brown trout. January is when they return to the lake to gorge themselves after spawning. In the winter i usually focus on the middle sections of the lake.

Thanks! What would you troll in January if not live bait?

small plugs that look like 2-3 inch threadfin shad. They eat smaller profile bait in the winter. I would go with Silver, Gold, and Copper colors. @@jeffroyce5945
