As a former HEMTT driver I value the vehicle for what it delivered. Best I ever truck I ever drove probably were the Tatra Kolos series. A bunch of Tatra T813 cargos came in for donation during the Gulf War 1991 and they quickly became favorites for us to drive. Some German MAN KAT1 trucks also came in that shipment and were rock solid.

This list is incomplete without Tatra. According to my personal experience I can say Tatra trucks are one of the best vehicle. I drove in mines in very rough terrain, even you don't need to put first gear, just use second gear to pickup because it's so powerful enough.

The Oshkosh 8x8 is awesome, and being American, I love it. So I hate to say this, but it's #2 behind the TATRA. It's a badass truck and should be #1. 2 things the former Soviet States can build offroad utility trucks and rugged utility helicopters.

Siberia is an amazing place to test trucks... that is supposed to be used in siberia. Use the same truck in Kenya and the personal is cooked alive. There is no "best" truck in general, they all have an purpose. Use them correctly and most trucks are amazing.

Most nations actually specify 'no higher than EURO 3 engine' to ensure they can run on the substandard fuel you find while deployed (or the crap that gets into jerrycans). The reason why Tatra/DAF doesnt make it is because of their special suspension which is heavy, unusual and cumbersome (though effective). Source: been working in military procurement for the past 10 years ...

5:18 - 5:22 are not HEMTT, they're LVSR, which is the US Marine Corps 10x10 variant capable of self-loading the PLS (Palletized Load System). The rear two axles are also steerable (though to a more limited degree than the front two) to help reduce the turning radius of such a long truck.
