Ingredients
Lentils - 500 grams / 18 oz.
Minced meat - 500 grams / 18 oz.
Onion - 2 pcs
Peppers - 1.5 pcs
Carrots - 2 pcs
Tomatoes - 2 pcs
Eggs - 2 pcs
Breadcrumbs - 50 grams / 2 oz.
Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
Cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
Thyme - 1 teaspoon
Red pepper - 1 teaspoon
Oregano - 1/2 teaspoon
Olive oil - 40 ml
Cooking oil - 100 ml
Method of preparation
Season the minced meat with salt, black pepper, red pepper, cumin, thyme and parsley. Add 1 finely chopped onion, eggs and breadcrumbs. Mix well, cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Cut 1 onion, carrots and peppers and cook them in a little olive oil for 10 minutes on a moderate heat (5th degree). Add the tomatoes, cut into small pieces and cook for 5 minutes on a moderate heat (5th degree).
Pour well-washed lentils into a casserole, add the prepared vegetables, season with black pepper and oregano and add 1.5 liters of water. We close the casserole and put it in the oven. Bake at 220°C/428°F for 50 minutes.
During this time, form meatballs from the minced meat and fry them in hot oil for 2 minutes on each side, on a moderate heat (7th degree).
After removing the meatballs, in the same oil, but taking away from the amount of oil and leaving only about 20 milliliters, fry 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper for 10 seconds on a low heat (3rd degree).
Take the casserole out of the oven, add the fried red pepper and arrange the meatballs on top. Cover the casserole again with a lid and return it to the oven for 15 minutes at 200°C/392°F.
