The ones we were taught in the highest high school Spanish class were translated (or we translated) into their English equivalents, but they were not the same, so we translated them literally too. _Antes que te cases, mira lo que haces._ (Before you get married, look at what you're doing.) = Look before you leap. It was a lovely, memorable exercise. I'd love to see the originals here. (RIP Sr. Eschrumpio)

I often fantasize pulvarizing them by bashing their faces onto the corner of a desk. But l have to remind myself that they are the real losers not me. Anytime a person has to tear someone down to build themselves up, they are using their fiendish tactics as a defense mechanism to try and keep you from outshining them. Let the "pigs" grovel in their mire. If you stay away from them, you won't get dirty.

Some of the “sayings” proverbs don’t translate the same unless they are placed on context or find is equivalent. On “Courtesy does not exclude Courage” I believe it’s better to translate it as: To be polite does not diminish character. Meaning that no matter who you are or what status you hold, you should always pay respects to everyone. Specially if they are considered inferior to you.

Revenge is a waste of time and energy, better to look for why you got hurt and deal with it. Often something that was a mistake or misunderstanding. Friendships are hard to find, the older I grow the more I understand this, finding people that are worth trusting. Being capable of orchestrating revenge doesn't mean that is what he way to deal with people, and that is what revenge deals with. People often doing the best with what they've got at the moment. Practices of revenge come at the cost of resources and waste even more resources when retaliation is started, so the battle begins. But for what?
