A great score for a great scene by the great John Barry.

Great film that only gets better every time I see it. It's unfortunate that it wasn't received well by most critics, however, they almost seemed to WANT to find fault with it. When I first saw it, I couldn't get past moore's and Redford's characters. I LOATHED them, and I hated watching Harrelson's character get hurt by them. However, once I saw it for the second time I appreciated how much these character actually reflected a more HUMAN quality where people aren't completely "good" or "bad", but simply flawed. I still cringe watching Moore and Redford, but I understand how complicated love can be, and how difficult it can be to walk away after being crushed by someone you trusted. All 3 characters had serious flaws, and that is what makes this film so great.

@@avinashbasetty i agree. That is why the film is rich and near to us, besides most of us were just common people just living our common life. C

Just finished watching it for the very first time and MAN, it's an absolute hidden gem! It's already one of my favorite movies! I first came across it on Netflix 5 years ago but decided to pass on it because it had a 12% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. I know, it's foolish, I use to Google the rating of a movie first & if it wasn't at least a 50%, I would pass. Smh, what was I thinking back then! The sad thing is after all these years it still has a low rating, 35%. Some advice for anyone that reads this comment, don't pay attention to the ratings of a movie & don't listen to the critics, JUST WATCH IT. You'll be surprised, some of the BEST movies I have watched these past handful of years were poorly rated.

It was a hit and most people saw it doesn't matter if critics praised it.

you say he was crushed by someone that he trusted, and yes that’s true, but however he was also to blame for this mess, and the problem here instead of talking through it and working through it, they decided to split, yes he trusted her but she also trusted him, and together they both broke the trust of one another, John saw that and then made his move, throwing all his wealth and his lifestyle towards her, and of course she enjoyed what he had give her, but however once David sorted himself out and she saw that, unfortunately for John he couldn’t hold onto her even with his money, I guess her love for David was too strong and she just wanted to be with David as of course we saw at the end of the movie, but as I said they were both to blame for all of it, not just her but David too, by taking the devil up on his offer, But you’re right great movie and thoroughly underrated

This is perhaps one of the most meaningful scenes in the movie in that the metaphor that one can achieve greatness transcends all barriers in life. Despite the fact that some of the buildings may had been built with iron and steel; that's not the point. Harrelson's speech about "a brick wants to be something" has a deeper meaning in itself.

:18. Great acting. He's spent his life trying to "be something". She's discarded him anyway. Surprised by an incongruous moment of their lives in his slide (she's smiling in their garden having coffee)...he smiles through the pain. Next shot, he's standing, teaching what he believes in. That smile he makes, brilliant and beautiful and good.

Brilliant lecture but wrong slides..most of the images are either metal structures as the Chrysler buildings, stone and conrete as the Pyramids and other Kahn's examples..???
@DanteDAnthony6 жыл бұрын
Said someone who never actually went to the Chrysler building. But friend, it's a METAPHOR for the creative instinct in the Human spirit. There are actually a lot of bricks in the Chrysler building. They were all fired somewhere. Glazed somewhere. Carried and loaded and trucked, and carried and loaded and set in concrete. Every. Single. One. upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/20/Chrysler_Building_motifs_detail.jpg
