One of my favorite Mandela quotes : “No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.” Nelson Mandela, Long Walk to Freedom

I did not feel welcome there as if I don't belong. I heard even people whisper behind my back: "Again such a f**** foreigner who does not understand anything" I hope Jane put them all into their place. My neighbors were natives and they were one of the nicest people I met in Regina.

Jane Elliott is right on the ball as a teacher and mentor! To use features or characteristics of a small number as a stereotype and apply those to whole groups is discrimination; in relation to racial characteristics is racism. The person commenting above should watch the whole video and think beyond a superficial character assessment of Elliott.

results of this abuse which namely is that people tend to give up when they are tired and start avoiding the conflict which makes them feel better. So indeed, if you after years of bumping into this stuff, stop fighting it takes weight of your shoulders which is what Elliot also argues: people are PUSHED OUT and when that has happened they don't have to fight anymore. You have to explain your arguement how I am being racist. I would love to explain it to you on FB since you dont get it.

@goldschle You're right, we are all different from each other. The problem lies in the assumption of inferiority based on arbitrary physical traits that we're born with. If you can accept that within any given race you can find smart people and stupid people, then why would you ever presume that race is what causes those differences? You judge based on character, not color. People aren't "equal" - we don't claim that to be true. But we have equal rights because anything less is an injustice.

@anahi_naya_ledesma
@anahi_naya_ledesma 4 жыл бұрын
@@lynnhathaway3755 She only did that with her students when she was a teacher in her hometown, which was a white population only. Being all white students, the next day she had to reverse the experiment so that everyone could go through the experience. But when she started implementing the exercise in other settings with groups that included people of color (who already know what it feels like to be marginalized), then the logic of reversing the experiment was pointless. Also, they are more intense exercises because they are with adolescents or adults, and they are generally more defensive. In addition, Jane has said that she always suffers from migraines after exercising. For a matter of mental and physical health, it is better not to extend the exercise.

If you think that darkness is not apart of you then you are blind to it and you can not control it. But as you may of heard before, "You can only control yourself and what you do". But then the Question is...."What are you?" "Who are YOU?" You are everything my friend. But the catch is that....You're not the only one....You have many different faces and each one has its own free will and choice and life path it can choose.....But dont think for a second that all these things are outside of you....Because then you let them take you over....You cant control other people and you shouldn't want too, but you can control the good and the darkness in you because you are those things. Good is you. Darkness is you. You have the choice on which one you manifest. And when you know that you are everything and everything is You, You have no intention of doing any wrong, because you love yourself and you love others because they are you and you want to grow and mature and evolve. But not fore a selfish reason. Selfishness is an Illusion that takes place when you still believe that you are separate from the rest of Existence. When you realize that there is no separation from The Source except for the one we make ourselves, You see that there is no One Self, And there really is no Self. Self is an Illusion albeit an important and helpful one. When you see there is no self, You cant be selfish. When you live in the Truth of the Real world....Selfishness is a made up word for a non existing idea that only exists in our imaginations unless we bring it into fruition .....If i cut your arm off, My arm will not then be cut off by this action alone......But by hurting another , which is really just another version of me, the same thing in a different package, I inevitably am hurting myself, And even if we were not all of the same source, we would still have no reason to hurt one another. Thats why we are born into the illusions we are born into. If we knew that everyone is You and You are everyone, They might love out of selfishness instead of out of true selfless Love. Loving so you dont get beaten is not True Love. It is a Coping Mechanism, An a defense tactic. True Love Is true Because it is not forced and has no motive besides Love. So Our task is to Be in The illusion that we are all separate, But still find the love to love another like we are all One. THE TRUTH AND THE GREAT COSMIC SECRET THOUGH IS THAT WE ARE ALL ONE. Just like an Orange is made up of trillions of trillions of cells, they all make up the orange. Take one, just one, of those particles away and the orange ceases to be. Each particle of the orange is a copy of the whole orange itself. The orange is made up of orange, lol. What a novel Idea, lol. God is simple yet Complex. God is A Divine Contradiction. Scientists keep trying to break the atom down into smaller and smaller pieces to try and find the tiniest piece that they believe wont get any tinnier. They will never find this because there is no such particle. It just goes on for ever and ever. Everything is relative in this world. Something the size of a flee could be a black hole in another universe. If you split a number in two over and over again until you get to zero,.....You find that you never get to Zero......Interesting. Nothing Doesn't Exist. If anything, It might Anti-exist, But it doesn't exist. Nothing= NO-Thing. Opposite of Some-Thing . That is part of the Meaning of Nothing, NO Existence......That doesn't mean its not real, it just means it is a fundamental building block of matter that we cant see, you cant have something without nothing. But nothing Doesn't exist. Something Exists. Find it! Let it Free You. blessings to you

@KingMacintosh You clearly missed the point--it's not about guilt. That quote you pulled (out of context) has NOTHING to do with any sort of guilt, but with frustration, anger, and pain. It's about understanding why minorities are more likely to fail or drop out--and since their brains are exactly the same as ours, it has to be environmental, like Elliot says. This experiment really is about opening your eyes so that you can recognize racism today and work against it. That's it.
