I watched this twice when I was young. Now, nearly a decade later, I've come back to watch it. And like other comments state, quality is not just in the sharpness of the camera lens, but with in the spirit of the writers, directors, and cast that give it life. This has life, because all involved love Tolkien, Lord of the Rings, and their message. Thank you a thousand times, for a job well done.

This is the proof that original content of Tolkien's Work can be created but always taking into account The heart and the true message of the Author... Great Job. For me this is a Prequel from the Original trilogy and it's magnificent.

The acting, scenery, costumes and well choreographed fights to a beautiful musical score are a testament to the amazing talent put into this film and show that limited budget is nothing compared to unlimited imagination and the love of a story. Thank you for making such a wonderful independent movie like this. Having read Tolkien's works over and over, it really felt like you captured the feel of his stories, weaving in the joy of Arathorn and Gilraen along with the ultimate sorrow that we already knew must happen. Kudos to the writers, producer, actors and all involved in this project. I think Tolkien would be proud and so very pleased with your work.

(a little piece I wrote for my OTP in this movie!) "When she dies, she will shroud her eyes in the last moments with thoughts like skeins- the way the willow lattice looks against a dusky summer sky, the sharp drifts of autumn constellations. As she withdraws from her broken physical body, she will enfold her spirit with that which has brought joy and is now tangible to her bodiless form. The spiral of sparks from each past winter bonfire, the sleek crisscrossed skin of the full creeks in spring. She tilts her head back against the wall, catching Dirhaborn’s eye next to her with an answering smile as the bard’s crescendo begins its descent over Feanor’s deathbed. He’s tired after the extra hunt he joined after she returned in the afternoon, but as he reaches for his drink again he pulls her close; that steady arm she knows from sparring and trusts from battle, snug and strong about her hips. Maybe she will ascend amidst scents, too, she thinks, turning her her head and catching the warm, familiar fragrance of his body. It reminds her of the cool river-smell, the musk of the forest, the grounding of moss and crumpling leaf skeletons and woodsmoke and horsehair. Body odours reassure her, a distinction after experience with too many orcs or other human odours. The bard has cried out his final stanza, and Dirhaborn draws his arm away to join the applause with her. Still smiling, dreamy, she nudges the sharpness of her hip into his side and allows her cheek to settle against his shoulder. There would be sounds, too, she supposes, so she departed to fairer flutes than her own death rattle and that of her battlemate- the swaying harmonies Halbaron and and Halbarad weave together when the son joins his father in training, the poplar leaves singing in the breeze, Aragorn’s shrieks of joy when a patrol returns. Asquiescing to the crowd with sighing nods, the bard begins another ballad. Dirhaborn settles his arm around her again, and the wine from her own cup slides in droplets of a smile past her lips. He mutters something about the damned bard, but through his words and weariness she can feel the heat of his smile beneath, the kindness that has always been part of him. Safe. Her head snaps up from his shoulder. Of course she would do it again, leave her chest a gaping bloody cavity simply because someone cared about her existence and was kind enough not to leave her completely alone. Worse, she realises just how content she is here, none of the anxious whirlpool that was being around Arathorn. Was. She bites down on her lip, fierce, as the moisture stings up in behind her eyelids. Why does she fall for the kindest, truest men, those who would never hurt her but are trapped by her girlish emotional desperation? Swatting at his shoulder in wordless farewell, she pushes herself free and strides to the front of the corwd where Aragorn is starting to make a tired fuss. Neither of his parents are in sight, so she swings the toddler into her arms, pushing down on the renewed wave of feeling that causes, and steps out over the threshold to the great hall. Across from her in the dusk, untouched by the pool of rushlight she stands in, she sees Arathorn and his wife wrapped up in each other’s arms and speaking fast, intimate words. Her arms clench about Aragorn as loneliness cascades down, pressing her under until she feels this pool has no areas of light green water, no spiral of white bubbles to show her which way is up. When I go to meet Ilúvatar, she tries to repeat, tries to picture Feanor like she had earlier, it will be to- but she can’t, if she goes it will be with memories, and she wants so many more of those. She wants the intimacy of the couple close to her, she wants a child of her own wrapped to her breast; she wants to fight, she wants to make love, endure. And suddenly the vision she’s been groping for so long is sharply articulate in her mind. She wants this life, and she wants her best friend at her side. She wants to fight and love and live, not alongside their hero but her equal. Her mate. Applause comes spilling from inside, and with her free palm she grinds the sadness from her skin. She can’t have any part of that vision, he’s only kind, and she can’t risk more of his pity or the disgust if he ever found out. And so she will leave. ______________________________________________ When she dies, she shrouds her eyes in the last moments with thoughts like starry veils and memories even more radiant, words of love and faith and future, a necklace more precious than any promise. Even as his scent fills her senses, so many beloved pieces of their lives, she hears his voice, growing stronger as their captain’s fades. “We will see each other again.” _____________________ As her eyes are unwound again, her senses fill and she inhales for the first time without a body. It is to a fragrance of horse and man, woodsmoke and steel, the river and the forest floor. As she gains sight he is laughing, reaching for her already. “El, do not run!”"

For the longest time, I held off viewing this motion picture (and I call it that, because it rises above mere fan-film or homage)... I remember watching this many years ago - and I found it to be an excellent story, telling of Aragorn's father and his own great deeds among the Dunedain. Yes, there were a number of memorable lines. And the writers honored the poetic language and cadence of Tolkien without it sounding like a bad imitation of a Shakespearean-like play. I wish there were a way to do more than just click "like" for this film. It is an excellent interpretation; both heartbreaking and hopeful at the same time, just the way Tolkien wrote it. I wish this director could take on more stories from the Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales of Numenor. She did a marvelous job with a low budget. Imagine what she could do with a heavy bankroll behind her.

This was wonderful! The costumes, sets, props, and cinematography were all believable and grounded the film. And the characters, dialogue, and story brought it to life. It really felt like another chapter of the beloved movies, and while we didn't have as much time to get to know these characters, you still made us care deeply for them. Thanks for creating this and letting us see this story come to life. It is a hard thing that so much sacrifice must be made, but to preserve hope and a future, it is worth it in the end. Very well done indeed.

Here's my spin on the movie. I am not a professional in this field but I am an avid movie fan. It isn't exactly what we would picture an Oscar. But this movie brings me back to English class. When the teacher would read us a book and then we would watch it on screen. But looking at it, for the way the movie was done with the resources given them, they did a very good job. The acting surprised me the most. The acting was well done as well. There needs to be more support for films like these, and I would love to see something like this make it onto the streaming services with their digital effects. This movie/series would launch onto another level. Overall, a great film, and I look forward to seeing more of these movies!

Me. This was shot on a shoestring budget and still manages to even look better than RoP most of the time, even though some shoddiness would absolutely be excusable in a production like this. 10 minutes in we already know the main characters and what motivates them. They are likeable and relatable. And the storytelling? Legitimately very good. This script is much better than anything Amazon was able to come up with in RoP or Wheel of Time. Give them at least a decent budget and the rights to, say, Story of Children of Hurin, and we will definitely enjoy the best Tolkien movie since the original trilogy. RoP on the other hand has so far used five hours on nothing of note happening, and the show's idea of character development and storytelling is apparently 100% about insufferable douchebags being nasty to one another and explaining everything we see on screen anyway.

You cant expect much more from them. Especially if you look at budgets and what you get for it. Also, it explains why Breelanders were so on guard for Dunedain Rangers. Because they lived secretive lives.

So much brilliant care and attention that, sadly, was simply not taken in the bigger commercial venture. The fluent Sindarin (among many other things) is amazing and so well done. Bravo! 🙌🙏

This was amazing! It did not seem like a fan made movie at all! The story, music, fight scenes and dialogue were all cinema worthy! This should very well be a canon movie. I hope you continue to make more like this because this is just amazing.

If Amazon had tasked Madison with making Rings of Power, we could have had a genuinely good show, instead of the massive clusterfuck it was. Born of Hope is truly an outstanding production, considering the budget. *Major respects to all involved.*

Agreed. Tried to watch the Amazon production one more time. I’ve not gotten through it yet. I don’t feel anything for the actors and the plot is a convoluted mess without the incredible spirit of Tolkien! I can’t believe how an experienced director could have produced that piece of trash. Horrible, absolutely horrible writing and the constant switching between stories can give you whiplash. Not going to try a third time. I can’t stand that they turned Galadriel into a hate-filled feminist without any charm or mystery. One of the worst productions ever. Worthy of a Razzie Award.

I did not expect this to make me tear up but it did. Especially at 37:18. Halbarad is one of my favorite background characters in LOTR and to get a glimpse of what Halbarad and Aragorn standing with the Banner of the King would be like was amazing. Thank you for making this wonderful film.

Obviously this film wasn't going to be a Hollywood filmed style film with high budget wardrobes and cameras and scenery and everything that is in a big movie But it was really good for what it was and everyone needs to stop having a go , everyone who is saying it's bad how many full length movies have you created ? Loved it

I remember watching this YEARS ago and I still can’t get over how good the Orcs look! I know this was released b4 The Hobbit films, but what was the concept behind their costume designs? Are they meant to be Orcs of Gundabad, remnants from Angmar, or are they just random tribes from the Misty Mountains that swore fealty to Sauron?

I really think this was better than some elements in the LOTR movies. The music was one thing I loved. It was light and easy instead of Mr. Jackson's approach of loud and forceful and in your face. The fact that it was more subtle made it more emotional at times. I really loved this film. 5 out of 5 stars. And oh my god the troll! So perfect to was was presented in Fellowship. I really did love this.

Remember LoTR was a massive epic trilogy and the source material spanned many books; it deserved an epic orchestral sountrack to go with sweeping landscapes and involved war scenes. The story of Arathorn is but a chapter in Middle Earth and better served with an intimate, heartfelt music composition.

I know this is late, but I AM HAPPY that no PALANTÍR was in this. I admit I have too much time on my hands, but when I see it in my head, wow, awkward: "Wait...wait, this cannot be right-That is our SISTER!! Who is that guy she is with? Why is she allowing him to see her in such a manner by the waterfalls?! Arwen, STOP THAT!! You are a Lady of the House of Elrond!! Put those bosoms back in your....GREAT ELENDIL'S FLOPPY BALLS!!" ...That is not the raiment of an elven man; he is unworthy of you....the cloak of a ranger? He looks like one of your people, Arathorn...same height as you, Arathorn and.... _Takes look at Arathorn, takes look at man in the palantír, does a double take at little tiny Aragorn with his toy sword_ "Oh, my, GOOOOODDDD!! ELROHIR!! ELROHIR!! PLEASE TELL ME I AM SEEING THINGS!!" _For the record, Elrohir has already fainted to the ground in total and utter shock: he was looking over Elladan's shoulder the whole time. The little boy is poking him on the ground, thinking Uncle Ellie is pretending to have been felled by his teeny wood sword again. There are certain things a brother should never see his sister enjoy. The contrast between this, and watching the hungry look on adult Aragorn's face in the palantir was just TOO MUCH. The little creep is going to grow up to be a pervert who shall try to shag their sister!! Little Arwen is going to do that beastly thing the race of Men cannot get enough of and, and and, IT DOES NOT INVOLVE ETHEREAL SONGS THAT LAST DAYS ON END AND WRITING POETRY !! THUNK!!-out cold_
