Thanks for this. I started watching this before I got my T8 delivered and just completed today having now got it. I’m also missing CarPlay which I hope will come. My other main gripes so far is the under use of the central driver display and unless you are in Media playback of Radio or Spotify, there is no way of seeing what you are listening to

I would like to say that the dealer and Volvo have helped reassure that the system will improve, but that would be a lie. The system has had one update in 2 months the addition of speed cameras. I hope over time it's vastly improved becasue in many ways it is currently worse then sensus. The only things that stand out are google maps and google assistance. Music options are terrible and I agree with your points. Very dissapointed to date in Volvo. Hope you enjoy the rest of the car, T8 should also have the drive modes that are missing on my B5 that were included in the sales brochure 😒👍

I am 100 % happy with the previous system, wherever you are doing with your Google now you can do it very similar with you carplayer app and communicate with your voice control plus alexa. Also it was more fun to scroll left and right and see actually your car app. I got a brand new 2022 model, very disappointed and for this reason I'll take it in back to the dealer. Im going to buy a E-Class instead.

How did you set the driver display to have the maps show so big and the speedometer so small? Is there a setting to do that? I've seen a lot of videos with the maps a lot smaller and the dashes bigger. Thanks

Hi Andy, this was when the system launched, volvo have since updated it that the speedo and rev counter are bigger including numbers and the map smaller. They make changes it seems without feedback from customers.

@AndyFerdean the volvo system is very limited, the only thing you can do on the drivers display is have maps on or off, if off, its just a blank black screen in that part. The main display is used for everything really.

Good news..my hb. just fix it. Turn of the engine.... its happen when he try to start the engine with his phone.. so turn off the car.. wait for 5 minutes. Turn the engine my phone again... get in the car and turn off. Then start the car by the buttom it self.... then the dispay GPS on the screen at the driver side is work... 😅

Volvo app is currently useless, all it does is lock and unlock the car. The car has built in modem and Internet supplied by Volvo (Lte), it operates music apps and google assistant and live traffic. You can not use the built in internet as a hotspot and connect other phones to it to use instead of phone data. It went down the other day for 40 mins so lost all those functions.

What I hate about the new Volvos, is they have taken the drive modes off. I have ordered a V90 and it simply doesn’t have them. Dynamic makes a bit off difference so that will be a miss. Also good music taste there, Digweed is a legend 🎵

Yep, had that digweed cd since 1994, brilliant. Yes I miss drive mode in my 2022, dynamic made a big difference as the 8 speed in volvo can be slow to kick down sometimes and leave you panicking a bit pulling out in to flowing traffic.

@@tastyf1974 I picked up my V90 last week. I got them to add the Polestar mode and it makes a big difference. Nice to have the option to stick it in that. Check out Hernan Cattaneo. He’s my favourite DJ. Amazing prog house.

I believe at the moment, the only models with android are xc40 recharge, xc60, xc90 and V90. Not sure when it will release on other models. Volvo are currently building many cars due to the semiconductor shortage worldwide

No drive modes on the 2022 models unless you have top engine spec. I have sent email today to dealer about many things will update once I have a response from them and Volvo

Hey there. Ive been searching the internet for an answer on this but cant find a thing... On the old Sensus system you got a "driver performace" app to show fuel consumption over time. Does the Google system have anything like this?

No, sadly its extremely lacking compared to models pre google. The Volvo app is pointless, sensus used to show trip data, mpg each trip amongst other things. The google OS in combination with Volvo app allows you to lock the car that's it. Very very very dissapointing 😒 there is no driver performance in the car either, just oil level and tyre pressures.

Hi again. I’ve been tracking the release of the OTA updates from a link on my phone and I saw that a new version, 1.7, has been released this week so I excitedly went to the car to see if I could download it. I can’t. So unless it has been installed already and I can’t tell, the car is saying that there is no update available. There is no place I can find that lists the current version either. Having only had the car a couple of weeks, this is frustrating. Any ideas please?

Hey Matt, I think by going through the extensive menus you can see what version software the system runs from my memory, best suggestion is speaking with your dealer to find out what the new update has changed on the car. I need to book mine in a will upload another video as I have some major issues with the car, now winter is upon us, one being the passenger heated seat is linked to the stop start function meaning when the engine stops, the heated seat switches off 😒

@@mgraham111 this was a issue that Volvo fixed by running the software again at the dealership. The seat is not meant to turn off when the stop start kicks in as it was only the passenger seat that was affected. The car functions as it should so the seat heater stays on even when the stop start turns the engine off

Unless you have top engine spec T8 then the drive modes have been taken away from all models, sadly volvo have cheaped out on the car and added things to options list but in return put the price of the car up. If you have drive modes, i believe they are accessible in the menu screen

Sorry, i have not tried, you can have separate profiles and separate keys that set your mirrors and seats but different google accounts I can't answer,.maybe someone else can help you with this query

PHEV VERSION. The singular most disappointing aspect of the charge system is it inability to set a charge timer either through the car or app. So unless you have a smart home charger people like me on an economy 7 tariff need to be nocturnal to benefit from off peak charging. Volvo UK offer no solution. A retrograde step from earlier models and spoiling my enjoyment of a brand new car!

Terrable car. So much wrong with the infortainment system. It's as if no one has even tested it before they sent it out - or Volvo just don't care. Each day something new is found not to work or a design oversight. The options in the manual don't exist. Online reception works only 50% of the time for maps and Google assistant at best. Volvo keep on telling us new updates will be launched to fixed the problems, but never when and what it will fix. Wish we had read more reviews before buying this lemon. On the plus side, it's pretty - but dumb!

I feel your pain, I wish I could take legal action if I knew who is to blame? Volvo UK tell me its not their fault that the car was sold with function's it did not arrive with, Volvo santander finance have gone quiet on me, they are beyond useless anyway and just say, take it to a dealer, the car should come with the function's it was advertised. I am at loss, it seems to have patches when it works then days it just does not want to work. I have also had errors with the rear camera, yesterday had warning on screen for blocked parking sensors. I feel like no one cares. Terrible service from Volvo as a brand. It will be my last Volvo as these issues along with very poor fuel economy (some days i get a reading of 13mpg when I drive like miss daisy).

I sent an email asking a simple question - 5 days for a reply telling me they'll reply in two days. The thing that really gets me is the dark blue fonts on a black background. Who the F thought that one up? My infotainment screen sometimes reboots on its own. I've had the A/C just stop working, and then start again a half hour later. 8 months, 3k miles. And the depreciation is absurd. I can't wait to get rid of it. At least the seats are comfortable.

@@tastyf1974 I’m pretty disappointed with this system, thus far. It constantly freezes, won’t play music unless I turn off the car and turn it back on. Turning on/off the seat heaters there’s a lag and often freezes the system. Definitely buggy

@@dannyheff1 take it back to the dealer to look at as these could be resolved with a plug in to their software, but yes its a beta version for no. I dont have the issues any more, only one at present is the internet losing connection and most functions not working until I have signal. Do you have a battery symbol that shows charging under braking? If not then you do not have the latest system update. My battery symbol appeared after the dealer ran diagnostics.

How do I turn off the start stop feature

You can't turn it off, the electric motor is part of the engine, their is no starter motor so it is constantly on as the electric motor has replaced the starter motor. When you turn the car on the engine is instant, no cranking/turning over sound.

Owning an XC60 for 2month now, and it's the worst purchase I have made in my entire life! 1- You buy a Volvo for its safety. However, for a very simple task like switching steering assist on and off, you must go to the deepest parts of the menu via the touch screen while driving. That's not what I call the safety focus of a brand! 2- Android system for cars is a joke at the moment. In the past two months, I had to hard reset the infotainment system (I learned it thanks to the Volvo owners forums) to resolve issues like Lost GPS signal, Malfunctioning Air conditioning in the middle of summer, voice command not responding etc... Have I not known about this hard reset, I had to take the brand new 90K car to dealer at least five times! 3-There are buttons that do nothing, and I have the highest spec possible. There are two on the steering wheel, as arrows to the left and right and do absolutely nothing! Why? Is it because you deleted an option or changed some setups? Then respect your customer and remove those buttons! 4- Driving dynamics aren't comparable to the ones of BMW, Build quality is not close to the one of AUDI and design is not close to GLC... Safety is what remains, and You buy Volvo because of it! Then, with that touch screen and removing every single button on the car, safety is more of the past story for Volvo! Worst and the most expensive purchase of my life!

Look at that gear shifter. More trashing on Volvo's part. As a long-time Volvo driver, I can't and won't recommend the brand, unless perhaps it's pre-2015. What's does that leave us? Toyota? Lexus? Definitely not Range Rover (one of the MOST unreliable vehicles in the world). If you don't mind their thin paint, maybe Mazda.

Wish I had seen this video before I ordered a new V60 recharge PHEV, would have bought something else. The volvo implementation of AAOS is chronically bad, amateurish design and missing functionality that we have got used to in the last 10 years or so. The mobile app is even worse in that it lacks functionality that is provided on cars half the cost. A major step backwards and your video is way too uncritical and complacent. These cars cost a lot of hard-earned money and frankly not worth the price paid.
