Britain has done her part. Before they took over, not "almost everyone was hungry in India". The famines were created by the British during ww2. They took away the crops for their army and left the people who grew em starve to death.

What a comedy show, _"The British GAVE INDIA"..._ It sounds like how generous were these Brits. Factually, they came to loot India, and did so open-heartedly. The road, rails and irrigation etc were the tools to ease their looting, which they left behind. Irrigation was to feed the Brits NOT to feed India. Churchill alone was responsible for Bengal famine when he diverted all the food and left 3 million dead of starvation.

Due to what reasons Britain was forced to leave India, this subject was discussed in detail with Attlee. I asked them directly that "The Quit India Movement started by Gandhiji in 1942 was losing its edge. There is no other reason in 1947 ? What was the reason that suddenly the British government decided to free India ? In response, Attlee gave many reasons, but the most important of them was the British in the Indian Army and the Navy ... Growing dissatisfaction with the government and breathlessness. The main reason for increasing this distrust was the Indian National Army of Subhas Chandra Bose. I asked Attlee at the end of the discussion how much influence Gandhiji had in the decision to liberate India ? After listening to this Attlee taunted softly and said ' [ m - i - n - i - m - a - I ] . -: Justice PB Chakraborty(Chief Justice of Calcutta) Source: Bose: An Indian Samurai

@@mogznwazBut at the time when India becomes independent, there is a situation of anarchy all around India. Was this the administrative efficiency of the British rulers, that while leaving India they left India in a chaotic condition?
@VivekMishra-xz7bf

@@mogznwazThe British government itself wanted India to remain a member of the Commonwealth after independence. The then British Monarch George VI himself had asked Lord Louis Mountbatten to convince Indian leaders for membership of the Commonwealth. To ensure that India remains a member of the Commonwealth, the rules for membership of the Commonwealth were changed in the year 1949.

As far as railways are concerned, it is absolutely true that railways expanded during the British rule. But its objective was not to industrialize India but to exploit Indian resources at low cost keeping in mind the development of United Kingdom industries. Apart from this, the entire expense of the development of railways was being borne by the then British government from the revenue given by Indians. Apart from this, the then British government paid for the development of railways at a higher price than the actual cost, which benefited the British enterprises expanding the railways. The truth is also that even though railways developed in India during the British rule, everything from railway engines to railway tracks and all types of components were manufactured in the United Kingdom and not in India. By using the money which the then British government used for the development of railways, they could have encouraged the development of agriculture in India so that people would not have died of starvation on a large scale. If this money had been used for India's industrial development, India would have been an industrialized country like Britain. But industrialization in India became possible only after independence. If India is counted among the industrialized countries today, it is because of the hard work of Indians and the policies of the Government of India after independence.

The story of Indian independence: A free deer(India) was hunted down by a group of wild cats(rulers before the British), but a group of hyenas(the British) chased the cats away only to have the deer for themselves, and when they were done with it, they left it for the vultures(leaders since 1947) to finish what's left of it.

@dharmveermodi

@@mogznwaz In jungle ecology, hyenas don't usually hunt, they prefer to steal the prey of other animals by either shooing them away or just wait until the original hunter has had its share and no longer wants the remaining food. Here the British fits the hyena metaphor because they were not the first predator, they stole it from the preceeding predator.

It’s remarkable to look back and see this video and imagine for a second how we were and how we are now. That too when Boris Johnson is in Delhi. Salute to all our ancestors for being resilient despite going through all atrocities and inhuman crimes committed against them by thieves who looted them. To all those asking why India is not supporting Ukraine 🇺🇦.. look at this video ..imagine the feeling of helplessness faced by these people.. knowing that there is no one to save them, help them .. but they are just left to die by the British thieves and political stooges and families appointed by them. My request to all Indians. We should never feel ashamed to teach this history to our children. Teach them what Brits did to us! Teach them what Islamic tyranny did to us! Let’s bring back the glory of this land 🙏

@Tyt Xlx In their entire 200-year rule, they made up no more than 0.05% of the population. And, yet, for most of that period, no Indian was allowed to join the Indian Civil Service, in part because the British could not bear to take orders from a brown man. When they were finally admitted, more direct racism was in store. High scorers in the civil service examinations were accused of cheating, for how else could brown men do so well. The few who survived the cheating charge, then faced discrimination back home by being barred from the gentlemen’s clubs of the districts they governed.

@Tyt Xlx Consider, for instance, India’s famines during the Raj: Between 1770 and 1947, the oppressed suffered at least 11 major ones and many minor ones, resulting in 35 million deaths. For comparison, Stalin’s purge killed 25 million, Mao’s Cultural Revolution killed 45 million, and World War II killed 55 million. How can we be sure that the British were to blame for those hunger deaths? Simple. There’s been no major famine in India since independence. Worse still, the British notion at the time was that governmental interference to prevent a famine was a bad idea. The Economist, for instance, attacked an official for letting Indians think “it is the duty of the government to keep them alive.” (The Canadian author, Malcolm Gladwell, has a great episode of his podcast Revisionist History looking at how the worst Indian famine, between 1943 and 1945, was precipitated by British prime minister Winston Churchill.)
