The wheel on the flag is supposed to be the Ashoka Chakra actually. Ashoka the Great, one of the Maurya Emperors, installed several pillars and inscriptions which had that symbol. So it's from the BC era. There was a version of the Indian Flag which held a cotton spinning wheel though, but that was replaced. Kinda like how the US flag of the 18th century isn't the same as today.

21:54 No that's not what happened. 1 Buddhism became state religion at one point, however under the Coup of Pushyamitra Shunga of the Shunga Dynasty and through the philosophical efforts of Shankaracharya, Hinduism was re-established after Buddhism was defenestrated both politically and philosophically. 2. Buddhism also has a caste component, for example the fact that a Buddha cannot be born in a lower caste.

14:15 ganga river dolphins are evolved from indus river dolphins. Even if they were found to be different species in 70s since their dna is similar to indus dolphins both were considered same species till 2021 when they found physical difference . Both indus& ganga river dolphins commonly called South Asian river dolphins, are native to freshwater river systems in Nepal, India, Bangladesh and Pakistan. They are found in the Indus River and connected channels, in the Beas River, in the Ganges and Brahmaputra rivers and their tributaries in Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Nepal. They live in water with high abundance of prey and reduced flow. They migrate seasonally downstream in colder conditions with lower water levels and upstream in warmer conditions with higher water levels.

He does videos all about Jewish history, but some of my favorite videos of his are the one-offs he sometimes makes about such "pockets" of Jews in the places (mostly trade routs, as you said) most people don't even know of, like the ones he did about Jews in India, as well as the trilogy he made about the communities along the silk road (Iran, central asia and China). So many stories of communities most people don't even know used to exist or even exist to these days!

The Northwest Angle in Minnesota (also known as that little piece at the top) is only accessible through boat when it's free of ice or by ice road via Lake of the Woods, flying there, or driving though Canadian highways. In the North-East Seven Sisters region, there are people who belong to the Sino-Tibetan branch of the Mongoloid race. So language spoken here can be of the Sino-Tibetan branch. Christianity, Tribal Animistic Faith are much more common here. I belong to a Sino-Tibetan tribe from here.

So my understanding of the geology concerned is this: The Himalayas are so tall because of the collision of the Indian plate into the greater landmass of Asia. However - what makes the Himalayas (and Karakorum, and Hindu Kush) so tall? Is because they are new. And also because they are relatively close to the equator. The older mountains are, and the further they are from more consistent weather patterns? the more they weather and erode. Take - for example - the 'trans-pangean' mountains, that formed the backbone to earth's last super continent. Running more or less North - South? They were the Himalayas of their day . . . But millennia of continental drift and erosion means that today they are - the Applachians - the lesser Atlas mountains & - the Scottish Highlands

Some information which will help you to understand the Kashmir issue 1947 India under the British Raj consisted of two types of territory, British India and 550+ Princely states. British india was under the direct rule of the British crown and Princely states were in subsidiaries alliance with the British india. As per the Indian independence act of 1947 ( pass under British ) 1) British announced the Division of British India into the Dominion of India and the Dominion of Pakistan. 2) The treaty relations between Britain and the Indian princely states would come to an end and Princely state would be free to accede to one or the other of the new dominions or stay independent But independence was never an option for the princely states as per the Mountbatten plan. ( Mountbatten was the last viceroy of British india ) 3) the Princely states who shared borders with both india and pakistan could only decide, whether they want to join either india or pakistan. That means Land locked princely states who shares borders with india couldn't join Pakistan and vice-versa 4) Legally , the rulers of the princely states (not the population) had the right to accede to india or pakistan or stay independent. Coz princely states were still the authoritarian states and king/prince had the decision powers And as per the point no 4. Hindu Maharaja of princely state of Kashmir had the right to choose the fate of his state not the population of Kashmir. Btw sorry for grammar errors if there are any 😅

I think ashokas reign was the largest in terms of land area. Hindu kush in Afghanistan to myanmar and Indonesia in east. That’s where you see budhhism spread through all these areas.

Your assessment on cast is missing the timeline by 1000 years the caste ossification in India started from 5 th to 6 th century C. E , that's what the genetic data shows, but buddhism started almost 1 millennium before.

When it comes to the Genji river dolphin it is also referred to as a South Asia river dolphin, due to the fact they are also found in Bangladesh and Pakistan. There are four different types of river dolphins the southeast Asia river dolphin, the Amazon River dolphin, the Baiji a river dolphin found in China and the most critically endangered one, and finally La Plata dolphin but that one isn't a freshwater dolphin since el rio de la Plata is more of an estuary where fresh and saltwater mix and they also live in the sea next to Argentina and Uruguay.

You should study empires before Mughals. Like Gupta empire, Ashoka empire. They were huge and those were prominent for the subcontinent. Mughals have been glorified a lot. But sure you can start from the Maurya empire.

Indian culture has also massively influenced Southeast Asia (from religion, to vocabulary influences, to food, to political structures), most of which came through centuries of trade and commerce (same with peaceful Muslim traders bringing Islam to Southeast Asia). Also at 18:56, that's a Hindu monument in Bangkok, Thailand, called the Erawan Shrine.

I've seen escaped cows on the road in Wisconsin. You don't just kill them to get them out of the way. You wait for the farmers to get them back into their pasture. I don't think you'd want to pay for destroying a farmer's animal. I sat on a school bus for half an hour because a whole herd was out.

As someone who grew up watching Indian movies on a Sunday, I can confirm there is always gonna be some kind of song and dance number in their movies. Im Trinidadian, by we have ALOT of Indian here so Indian culture is strong. Hell, Im half Indian and my mom side of the family are both Hindu and devout Bollywood fans.
