India has had its share of memorable victories, but this one will go down as truly special. Missing stars like Rohit, Gill, Jadeja, Ashwin, & Shami, they still managed to deliver a commanding performance, completely outclassing the opposition in their own conditions. Full marks to the selectors & Gambhir for spotting players who could rise to the occasion. Everyone chipped in..Nitish & Harshit impressed, & Washington Sundar quietly made his mark. Even DDP showed glimpses of potential with the bat, and Jurel, despite some misfortune, pulled off a key catch at the right time. But the match belonged to Bumrah. His sensational bowling rescued India when the game seemed to be slipping away. It was his effort that turned the tide, and his leadership shone through. Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Kohli & Siraj added their brilliance, but Bumrah was the heartbeat of this win. For Aus, there was a small silver lining in the middle order & tail showing some resistance. But if the top order continues to crumble to 30/4, there’s only so much the rest can do. It’s a long road back from here for them...
@Aaykayy72632 сағат бұрын
Took the words right out of my mouth. But I'd say, Bumrah aside, the Aussie batters did not look all that bad. All 22 players struggled in the first innings, but they did take the attack to India in the second innings. My only surprise is that Marnus was the one who looked lost and flat footed. If I was Cummins, I would consider revisiting his batting order.

While everyone else was busy analysing, India got busy preparing! That is the hallmark of a team whose chips are down. Also, this team takes Australia tour damn seriously and wear an extra layer of skin when they travel down under. A team that typically starts with loss, has actually started with a solid win. Australia will have to play out of their skin to save this series now coz India knows Australia will come and will prepare accordingly. Brace for impact Aussie!! Kudos to the grit and resolve of India to just fight!

I'm sick and tired of oldies like Harsha Bhogle and Sunil gavaskar wax eloquent Indian teams because they never expect India to beat Aus based on their experiences of the past. It's what happens when your baggage and memories of the past are too many to count. Time to get younger commentators in, who would be disappointed if we lost.

The thing about Travis head is that in the last few years he’s really been the only batsman willing to attack bumrah which not only sometimes puts bumrah off but also the other Indian bowlers shit their pants when they watch someone hit bumrah. Tldr: Being courageous against bumrah wins him the mental battle vs the Indian bowlers

Gilly did give us lots of nightmare. I think we learnt winning from this aus side of Steve Waugh and just like Aussies are hurting right now we indians have seen the same pain. But now times have changed. Harsha is great as always. Nice 👍

Congrats to team India. I am really surprised that someone like Harsha, who have been watching this game up close and personal for decades,did not expect India to win at Perth. To me, the new Indian team always have a chance to beat Australia in Australia. Here are my reasons. 1) The Indian pace attack and Bumrah in particular. If you look at the Australian batting performances in the last two BGT in Australia, their top batsmen including Steven Smith and Labuschange struggled a great deal against the Indian pace attack, particularly against Bumrah. I was fully convinced that on a green top Smith and company will struggle against the pace trio lead by Bumrah. If CA prepares flat tracks, then Aussies could offer better performance with their bats. 2) If the Aussies are posting mediocre scores against Bumrah and company, then all it takes is 2 or three Indian batsmen to fire. And India bat deep with Sundar coming at 7. Cricket predictions can go wrong as well. That is the beauty of this sport.

I don't know if Virat will be able to continue his good form after this century but I can't remember the last time I saw him being this good at boundary hitting like this whole year across formats like playing sweep shot so consistently and so well, playing reverse sweep, playing backfoot aerial shots, playing cut shot quite well against spinner and not just relying on cover drive which literally destroyed his test career in last few years. After 2016, this is peak Virat if we talk only in terms of boundary hitting ability.

He, like many his age, are still stuck in the 90's mentality when winning abroad was simply not a possibility, and winning against Australia at home was just a dream. India has changed since then, and so has Australia, but some people cannot shake away those memories.
@nishant-m4z2 сағат бұрын
Why you being harsh on Harsha ? Everyone tries to act cool post the win. Any cricketing expert picked Australia as favorite for this match and the series for various reasons. Even I expected Australia to win. Regarding series, let's not jump the gun and wait. Although india is a poor starter in overseas tests, remember the England tour 2014 when led by a brilliant ajinkya rahane 100 and ishant sharma 7-for india won 2nd test at lords going 1-0 up in 5 test series eventually losing 3-1 and didn't even compete in those tests.. The main difference was the opening partnership in 3rd innings and none expected india openers to do this well.. KL Rahul was uncertain both in the playing 11 as well his batting position. Jaiswal was playing his 1st test in aus and had a very poor away series in SA. That made all the difference.

Ausssies are not average team. They have beaten everyone else in recent past. It is the Indian cricket team which has really elevated itself to a much higher level. Inspite of 4-5 regulars missing they outclassed Aussies in their home turf. Well done team India. keep it going
@rorschach172414 минут бұрын
Agreed. Ponting was an absolute beast. Anything marginally short against him, will be a boundary. Langer was the pressure absorber at the top playing all the shots,while Hayden takes his time to construct his innings. Gilly at 7 will put the opponents under his sword.

The pink ball test will be a completely different ball game altogether. Pun intended! Team India cannot afford to be complacent after this win. If we can fashion a win at Adelaide, panic will set in the Australian camp. Pat Cummins words of November 2023 still ring in the ears of Indians, "I like to silence the crowd". They were like daggers stabbed into our injured hearts. Now, with it's confidence back, Team India needs to give it their all, in all the remaining Tests.
@Vikasjose66Сағат бұрын
The slow death of test cricket is what we see here. 15 years back most of the test teams would have taken a lead in after a 1st innings after restricting opponents for 150. IPL auction is going on in the backdrop, so don't worry about test cricket..
@dennispicone6801Сағат бұрын
You can blame the death of test cricket, ( the ultimate form of the game ), on t20 and one-day cricket, and too much of it. It's ruined the batting techniques of too many promising first class players, who were potentially good test players. Now with the money involved in the IPL, the current crop of players don't even need test cricket, which is quite sad. It's always been the best to watch, for the purists. 😢😊
@Vikasjose6641 минут бұрын
@dennispicone6801 yes, I agree, I find solace in watch old test cricket videos and one days. Old one days. One day cricket was far more competitive than todays test cricket.

Harsha should start living in the present and look at the future more than the past. It appears that he is just not referring to the past, he's still living in it. We are a young country, 60 to 70% of our young guys (including me lol), don't even remember what happened in the 90s and early 2000s. For us it's all about staying fightingly competitive, and the competition among us internally is so strong that when the actual competition starts we are already ready for it and not afraid at all. When Harsha grew up and was maturing, he saw a lot of fear of competition and lack of confidence, so the fear that eminates from Harsha when he talks stands out and reflects in his commentary. One way it's a good learning for the young to understand where they stand and where their dad's and grand dad's generation stood.
