Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first stage of the Delhi-Mumbai expressway on February 12, 2023. The 1,386km (861 miles) route is the country’s longest expressway, and will cut travel time between the two major cities in half, to about 12 hours. The US$13 billion project is part of New Delhi’s infrastructure push to catch up with geopolitical rival China.

China has already maxed out on roads, rails, and apartments infrastructure. Which is truly remarkable for a nation of 1.4 billion people. India has also begun its journey of improving the infrastructure, and in a decade's time, we will achieve 50% of what China has done. India will not invest much in bullet trains, though, as they never recover you, the cost of investment as we see in China. Instead, we will see a large number of airports in the country. The unifrom distribution of people in the country coupled with the high population density, our infrastructure will pay for itself like it is doing already. Indian companies will buy thousands of planes, and with time, we will produce them in-house. I'm hoping for a future where we stop all crude oil imports and run the country on electricity and batteries. We have ample sunlight and wind, large thorium reserves, and a vast coastline. Only sky is the limit for my nation.
