US, UK and Australia formed the AUKUS to deter China in the Indian Ocean. But the AUKUS is big strategic blow to India as Australia get 8 nuclear submarines which India has been demanding for long. Why does India need a nuclear submarine and who can provide India with one. All this and much more in this episode.

If you actually believe the US assasinates your nuclear scientists, you would also have to admit that the Indian government's intelligence agencies are so bad they cannot investigate who did it, or even collect the tiniest of evidence so it will be recorded in history for the modern age to learn about. Alas, Pakistan is more likely to assasinate your nuclear scientists than the US.

Drawing parallel between AUKUS and India France JV is an absurd thing to do. Australia doesn't even have any SSBN or SSN. India on the other hand has INS ARIHANT and INS ARIGHAT, the two nuclear powered SSBNS which are the main workhorses of India's nuclear deterrence, for now. In 2022, 7000 ton S4 is gonna get launched. BARC has made nuclear reactor for these SSBN programmes already. But we are at 2nd gen level when it comes to those reactors. France stands at 9th generation standard and they use Low enriched Uranium for their reactors. India is looking for similar kind of tech as we have an ocean of thorium ore here. Plus this reactor will be standardized for all the future SSNs and SSBNs that IN will operate. And looking at French desperation after Aussies ditched them India fits right into the place for France to move ahead with.

After hundreds of years under the colonisation of the Brits, Indian psyche has more or less been imbedded of seeing european as a higher caste, as a strong race, as an intelligent race, etc, forgeting that they can excel much better than the european, just like it had been before the colonisation.

@@Liboch take your BS to somewhere else my friend. We are already in talks with Brits to develop fighter jet engines. On the other hand, apart from Russia, no one is gonna help you with their super secretive submarine based Nuclear reactor technology except France(upto a certain level). A country which has one of the most advanced 9th gen nuclear reactor technology, similar to what US has. There's no shame to accept the fact that we are way behind French technology. We gotta move faster and we also have to build some of the best state of the art assets to equip our armed forces with. European help will accelerate that progress by many folds.

If it's too good to be true, then it probably is. A lot of countries aren't very transparent with how they do things and they differ a lot in morals. If they are allowed to enrich uranium, they can choose to create a nuclear weapon in secret. And possibly the secrets will be revealed to the world so every country (and terrorists) will be able to learn this procedure. This is how jihadists learned how to build missiles. It's better for the entirety of humanity for a small group of countries to have it because it is easier to keep track of.

The difference between AU and IN and the US is that AU has had a long standing incredibly close relationship with the US and the UK as well as the other members of the 5 eyes, auscannzukus, ACP, ABCANZ, ANZUS, SEATO etc. Australia has fought alongside the US in many major conflicts (WWII, Korea, VIet Name, Gulf I, Gulf II, Afghanistan/"GWoT"). Of course Australian forces did not make a huge difference in many cases, but the presence of our forces showed resolute political support. Australia has been politically aligned with the US (for better or worse) for decades and we have had alliances with the US as long. India on the other hand has been unaligned for many decades. The situation is totally different. Now India suddenly says we want to be treated like your longstanding allies even though we have been indifferent or mildly oppositional for maybe 40-50 of the last 60-70 years. Additionally AUUKUS is as much about what the US gets as what Australia gets. The US will have a parnter nation which touches both the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean that will be able to service and support US subamarines, surface vessels as well as air platforms. The RAAF operates many of the same ait platforms as the USAF and USN as well as the RAF and RN. And of course the US has had longstanding use of Australia for communicating with their own SSBN fleet as well as their listening posts at Pine Gap. What has India given or offered the US as a strategic ally over the past 60-70 years? The closeness and length of the US/Indo relationship does not really compare with the US/AU relationship. It's just not a valid comparison. India wants someting now and is crying like a spoiled child because they are not instantly given what they want. Real friendship takes time to develop and is a two way relationship. What has India offered that the US should give them the "crown jewels" after decades of indifference or at best an on again/off again relationship?

No. In addition to mutual defence AUUKUS is all about reducing the transit time for US/UK forces and thereby letting them be more effecvtive with less platforms - less time in transit means more time on station. Australia is well placed with bases on both the Indian and Pacific Oceans as well as good access to SEA and reasonbly close to the South China sea. Location, location, location. Manufacturing subs in Australia also re-inforces that as it means US/UK SSNs will be able to be serviced and possibly undergo refit in Australia. And the AU subs means the US and UK won't need t0 buy as many. Australia will pick up some of the cost.

It isn't like India can't build SSN, which stands for Submersible Ship Nuclear, but it is exigency which is forcing India to look for these. India already operates SSBNs, which stand for Submersible Ship ballistic missile nuclear, and India is trying to build a fleet of 6 SSBN. And the reason behind India's supplication for SSN from the France and the US is China's aggressive behaviour or posture in Indo-Pacific. So what India is asking for is legitimate and is within its rights to do so, although the USA and France wouldn't be rude if they denied transfer of technology, it would only be ill-advised and myopic vis-a-vis China.

If really China has SSN Technology? they need to give answers for some unanswered questions. 1) Their submarines are easily detected by Japan, UK recently. 2) Their submarine disasters are not revealed to public, but everyone know disasters happened to USA, Russia, UK, France. 3) China has a huge no. of naval assets, but are they reliable in a war? 4) Do they have experience in maintaining those assets? 5) History tells us USA defeated in Vietnam War? 6) Russia, USA countries have also lost some wars. You know they started proxy wars. 7) So, if we look and think realistically China has no quality material in weapons, then no one will fear of their weapons.? 8) Some paid news magazines say, china has lot of weapons, china has bombers, do you really think they will work in war like situation? I sincerely believe no. 9) In ancient times, many kingdoms collapsed because they do not have the quality leadership, even though they have large no. of armies. So, better stop believing that China is superior economic, technologically country. Because if it can't avoid Evergreen company 300 billion dollar debt, how it will become world's second largest economy. who knows how many financial scams are happening in that country. Remember Covid-19 it has origins in China, and they claimed only 3000+ casualties. They have more casualties but they never reveal the figure. So, wise people understand that what china is capable of? If you have any doubts, study their history, they shamelessly betrayed their people to protect corrupted ones.

After a decade when govt cant build first SSN, L&T made the first SSN with in less time as well as low cost. Still no further projects were given to them we are so full of shit the person who do the work dont give them work but the one who protest every day give them all our projects let them get delayed by decades.

New Delhi is just going to be compelled to up its game. It needs SSNs that can hazard Red China's economy at the Strait of Malacca. Diesel-Electric power plants just cant' get that job done. Beijing does not fear New Delhi's SSBNs. The CCP figures on its aggression staying below atomic release. BUT, Beijing does fear having its single most critical trade route utterly shut down, single-handedly, by the Indian Navy... with SSNs. That Australia is going to soon have such a capability is driving the CCP crazy. The deal obviously sets the stage for the UK to base its SSNs -- on rotation -- in Australian ports. Perth and Darwin immediately spring to mind. Further down the road, look to see Taiwan and Japan fielding SSNs. I don't see how they won't. This is the natural result of Wolf Warrior diplomacy.
@1337flite
@1337flite 2 жыл бұрын
More likely US/UK SSNs and any major surface combatants would be based in Perth and Sydney as that is where the RAN main fleet bases are, so that is where the logisitics and expertise to support them would be best. Air assets are more likely to go to Darwin and the more northern bases (Curtin, Tindall) And Perth and Sydney as a lot closer to Adelaide in South Australia where the shipyards that built the existing Australian SSs and DDGs as well as which will build the Australian SSN when that happens.
@davidhimmelsbach557
@davidhimmelsbach557 2 жыл бұрын
@@1337flite Within the USN, tradition tells us that SSNs // SSBNs are kept AWAY from other fleet combatant ships -- even in port. There's not a lot of cross-over in terms of support functions. Whatever they do need will be custom to their ships. ( At 10,000 tons + , you can't call them boats anymore.) So, it's anyone's guess as to how basing will be worked out. I can say that in the grander sense, any submarine response to a CCP provocation will be an emergency if not a panic deployment. So having bases close to the Strait of Malacca is a serious consideration. SSNs are the obvious and primary threat to any PLAN scheme to steal the South China Sea. It may come to pass that it's re-named the ASEAN sea.
