I was once teaching in an under-resourced school in Lahore, Pakistan. I did a small project with my students. I asked all of them, while showing a picture of one of my friends from India, would you like her to be your neighbour? My students were from class 6 to 8. All of them said, no. When I inquired why? They said she is hindu and hindu are our enemies. Then my students had a one hour skype session with that friend of mine from India. After one hour, I asked the same question. All of my students said, Yes sir we would love her to be as our neighbour. So, its all about spreading love and communication. And I guess that is the only way forward for the common poor people of both nations. Peace Cheers :)

The final part of this video report was the best. It gives us hope. It is heartening to see young people on both sides change their opinion of the other side to "Hey, they are just like us!" after a simple online chat. Pakistan and India are not the lands. They are the people. I see two types of people in both nations. One, the type who keep referring to our historical and religious differences and keep asking "but what about (hate statement)". The other, and more numerous, are those who are willing to explore beyond the myths about the other side and willing to reach the point of "Hey, they are just like us!" The peace loving people on both sides should step up contact. Haters will call us names and try to disrupt any peace attempts, but peace between the two people's is the only way forward. "Forwards" should be the tag for those who want to move forward into a new, peaceful era.

Before the 1971, the state of Kashmir also had Hindu pandits living there. Once the war broke out, they were tortured and not spared by Pakistan. Therefore, many of them fled to other states for safety and Kashmir is a Muslim majority now

As Bangladeshi American Muslim born and raised in the United States I feel all three countries yes all three countries did some things good and some things bad. At the end of the day their really is no clear cut winner in this situation which has been going on for more then 70 years. I agree this 2 part document covered many of the problems between India and Pakistan because of their 70 year partition history. However, I feel their should have been a part to also talk about the Bangladesh issue because no matter what Bangladesh will always be tied to India and Pakistan whether good or bad when it comes to history. I'm not a hardcore Bangladeshi nationalist but I felt this also ties into the history of both nations but it would have been good to get the perspective of representatives from all three nations. Also how the War of 71 shaped all 3 countries and its people. Many of the problems within Bangladesh itself lies within people allegiances to India and Pakistan also Islamic vs secular aspect and how it shaped the country. Again I'm not attacking anybody from any of the subcontinent nations I want peace but I just felt the Bangladesh issue should have either been part of this part 2 or they should have made a Part 3 to discuss this topic.

If British India was not partitioned on the basis of religion it would have broken up into different countries on the basis of language and culture. There are 300 million bengali speakers between India and Bangladesh why would they agree to speak Hindi/Urdu and be ruled from Delhi. Same thing for Tamils, Marathis, Punjabis etc.

Partition was a nightmare to East Pakistan(Now Bangladesh). i still surprised, why Karimganj couldn't be part of East pakistan though it was legally achievable by Sylhet referendum. Have anyone any explanation?

I just want to tell everyone India has the right to save itself from terrorism. It showed a lot of patience last multiple decades, which is obviously useless. We Indians dont care what the world is thinking about us right now. We stand by our soldiers, our real heroes and our Government who is protecting us from Terrorists and the country which is supporting, babysitting and nurturing them. At least India is taking the action and standing up to them. Have western world forgotten all the terror strikes on their lands. Aren't they the victim too? @Zubair Khan India has been classified as the world's only functioning Anarchic government, due to the chaos in their political system. Not to exalt Pakistan, because a Theocracy isn't much better. At least you stand a CHANCE in an anarchy. If you "commit apostasy", you can be imprisoned or killed. So as bad as India may be, you don't risk death over a difference of THOUGHT. What has been ignored over the years by the world is that the the militants are no more but kashmiri locals who want independence from India. Pakistan plays a role in which it supports the local narrative and is totally agreed to give independence, with no military violations.
